Everything happened so unexpectedly. Mei Mei slipped and fell when Mother was mopping the floor. She broke her arm. Dad wanted to fetch her to the hospital but his car wouldn’t start. I called for a taxi but today being a public holiday, it wasn’t easy to get one. We waited anxiously for almost an hour before one turned up. My parents followed Mei Mei to the hospital. We keep a pet dog, Lucky. Lucky was walking restlessly all over the living room as if he too was worried for Mei Mei. Not long afterwards, he pooped on the carpet! I screamed at Lucky to stop him from doing his business, but it was to no avail. I felt like crying. I stood there staring at the poop and my mind went blank for a while.

24th Canon Lion City Cup: Brazil’s Vasco da Gama U15 Narrowly Defeats Singapore’s NFA U15 Brazil’s Vasco Da Gama U15 scored a 2-1 win over Singapore’s National Football Academy (NFA) U15 at the Jalan Besar Stadium last night. NFA, coached by ex-national captain, Nazri Nasir, was more defensive compared to Vasco who kept attacking and making long-distance shots. NFA forwards like Hami and Syukri had to work extra hard to guard their side. Singapore was continuously threatened at the goalmouth and her defence gave way at the 12th minute when Luan Martins slammed in an angled shot that hit the top of the net. That incredible shot left NFA’s goalkeeper, Rusydi, baffled. However, Rusydi displayed commendable skills when he kept NFA safe against Vasco’s Martin’s and Evander’s unsuccessful pounding at the goal line in the first half of the game. Two minutes into the second half of the game, Vasco added another goal through a free kick. Not long afterwards, NFA defender, Amer, brilliantly capitalised on Vasco’s weak defence and gave NFA their much-awaited first goal. Vasco continued to dominate the rest of the game and could have added more to their tally if not for Rusydi who made a couple of good saves.
