Encouragement

n the midst of our hurried everyday lives there are always a few moments that either miss us or jump at us. It’s these moments that often hurt more or less, but when all is said and done we often can’t do much more than whisper to ourselves “hang in there”. For some, their endurance has been well conditioned and it’s easy to wipe the dust off. But for others, a single blow can leave them breathless in shock staring at the wound. “The heart” is a fragile piece of flesh that is in ever need of a consistent cool substance known as “encouragement”. We can pour in encouragement every morning in every new day and along every step of the way. Really every second is another chance for encouragement when we are feeling down. “The truth is, there has never been a weak person on this earth, only a person lacking encouragement.” Don’t accuse yourself of being weak, because that’s not true. Don’t tell yourself that you’ve already lost, because in only a moment you could win. The truth is today we may have taken a fall, but believe me that you only need a second to find the encouragement needed. There’s still always “tomorrow” for us to pick ourselves up again.

Thailand Tourism sees Russian Market boom once again and the Brazil Market on the rise Statistics from the Tourism of Thailand Bureau for the first quarter of the year revealedthe top 5 tourist nationalities as follows; 1. Chinese at 2.43 million a decrease of 7% as result from the tightened laws against zero dollar tours 2. Malaysia at 900,000 a 1% increase 3. Russia at 460,000 a 28% increase 4. South Korea at 440,000 a 3% increase and 5. Japan at 390,000 a 4% increase.

As for foreign revenue gained during the first quarter, the countries contributing line up as follows; 1. China at 1.3 trillion baht a 4% decrease 2. Russia at 380 billion baht a 3% increase 3. Malaysia at 250 billion baht a 4% increase 4.The United Kingdom at 220 billion baht a 7% increase and 5. South Korea at 195 billion baht an 8% increase. From the numbers shown it is quite clear that Russia has made a comeback. Russia’s numbers from just last year held it at 8th with a mere 1.08 million tourists. Also, last

year had Russia ranked 3rd for highest foreign revenue brought in. Another interesting market on the horizon is that of Brazil which is currently estimated to grow at a rate of 49%. Also, looking at Brazils stats for last year the last two months of the year showed tremendous potential for future growth. In response, the Tourism of Thailand Bureau is aiming towards opening St. Paulo Offices to help strengthen this market.

ส่วนตลาดที่สร้ างรายได้ มากที่สดุ 5 อันดับ แรกในไตรมาสแรก ประกอบด้ วย 1.จีน มูลค่า 1.3 แสนล้ านบาท ลดลง 4% 2.รัสเซีย มูลค่า 3.8 หมื่นล้ านบาท เพิ่มขึน้ 3% 3.มาเลเซีย มูลค่า 2.5 หมื่นล้ านบาท เพิ่มขึ ้น 4% 4.สห ราชอาณาจักร มูลค่า 2.2 หมื่นล้ านบาท เพิ่ม ขึ ้น 7% และ 5.เกาหลีใต้ มูลค่า 1.95 หมื่นล้ าน บาท เพิ่มขึ ้น 8% จากตัวเลขดังกล่าวสะท้ อนให้ เห็นชัดเจน ว่า ตลาดรัสเซียเริ่ มฟื น้ ตัวกลับมาอย่างชัดเจน แล้ ว โดยจากสถิติในปี 2559 ที่ผ่านมาพบว่า รัสเซีย ติดอันดับ 8 ของตลาดที่มีนกั ท่องเที่ยว สูงสุด 10 อันดับแรก โดยมีจ�ำนวนนักท่องเที่ยว

กลับมาอยูท่ ี่ 1.08 ล้ านคน ขณะที่ในส่วนของ รายได้ ก็พบว่า รัสเซียติดอันดับ 3 ของตลาดที่ มีรายได้ สงู สุด 10 อันดับแรก ที่นา่ สนใจอีกอย่างหนึง่ คือ คาดว่าตลาดที่ มีแนวโน้ มเติบโตที่สงู มากในไตรมาสแรกนี ้ คือ บราซิล ที่น่าจะเติบโตได้ ถึง 49% โดยพบว่า ทิศทางการเติบโตของนักท่องเที่ยวจากบราซิล สูงมากในช่วง 2 เดือนสุดท้ ายของปี ที่ผ่านมา จึงมองว่าบราซิลจะเป็ นตลาดดาวรุ่งในปี นี ้ ซึง่ ททท.จะเปิ ด ส� ำ นัก งานเซาเปาโล เพื่ อ สร้ าง ความเข้ มแข็งของตลาดนี ้ในปี นี ้ด้ วย

he issue of public litter is a common one among every country across the globe and in many there has been much progress made in hopes to make home more visited. I would like to share regarding this topic yet again since Mr. Naraphat Plodthong the new Governor of Phuket recently left the following remark upon being instated. “I would like to solve the issue of public litter, cleanliness and orderliness for good because this is a true key to tourism growth. There is a standard that we must reach if we are aimed towards becoming a world class tour destination. I want to see every department whether state or private to take part in putting an end to public litter for good.” Not too long ago a group of business owners, entertainment business staff and myself in the Bangla Rd area of Patong organized the event “Bangla Road 24 Hour Clean” aimed towards developing Bangla into a world class “walking street”. The governor’s goal is the entire island of Phuket while my goal is just 600 meters of road. The governor’s goal and mine may vary in size but the goal itself is ultimately the same!! Also, I believe that it’s not just the governor and I but many locals as well who wish to see Phuket globally known for its cleanliness. “No matter what the problem is, if you wish to solve it you must start with action.” For example, Japan an excellent model of solving public litter, first took action on the problem by announcing that trash is a national duty that everyone must work together to fix. In following, each local municipality distributed trash separation manuals to educate locals on the different types of trash and how to dispose of trash in the household. Also, a campaign was begun to inform citizens of proper trash disposal

and form volunteer teams to separate trash through town. The entire project was designed to develop proper waste management from trash separation all the way to waste disposal. When the government develops well-rounded projects, the people are able to easily take part and perform the necessary tasks until it becomes an ordinary part of everyday life. Now concerning Phuket, as I mentioned “it’s not just the governor and I but many locals as well who wish to see Phuket globally known for its cleanliness”. Because really it is going to take more than just one clean street in Patong to make Phuket a world class tourist destination just as the governor said “the entire island of Phuket” and at an “international standard of cleanliness”. “Phuket has to be clean in every area, every road and especially every tour location and the only way this will happen is if everybody does there part which means investors, departments both private and state, businesses, locals and even tourists.”

Making a public announcement that Trash is the Duty of Phuket just as Japan did in starting its campaign towards solving public litter can be a great start for Phuket as well. Therefore, it’s up to the governor and governmental leaders who play the role of “train conductor” guiding those with innovative ideas and creative methods to better our society and ultimately point us towards a more sustainable and standardized Phuket. As for me, I can confidently say…. I’m all in!!

ที่ แท้ จริ ง อยากให้ ทุกภาคส่วนทัง้ ราชการ เอกชน และประชาชน ร่ วมมือกันแก้ ปัญหา นี ้อย่างจริ งจัง” โดยก่อนหน้ านี ้ไม่นาน ผมและผู้ประกอบ การ รวมถึง พนัก งานของสถานบัน เทิ ง ใน พื ้นที่ถนนบางลา หาดป่ าตองลงมือร่ วมกัน ท� ำ “โครงการถนนบางลา ปลอดขยะ 24 ชัว่ โมง” เพราะต้ องการยกระดับถนนบางลา ให้ เป็ น“วอล์คกิง้ สเตท ระดับ เวิลด์คลาส” อย่างแท้ จริ ง เป้า หมายของท่ า นผู้ว่ า ฯ คื อ ทัง้ เกาะ ภูเก็ต ส่วนของผมเป็ นเป้าหมายเล็กๆ 600 เมตรของถนนบางลา อาจแตกต่างกันในเรื่อง ของขนาดของเป้าหมาย แต่ก็ถือได้ วา่ ... เป็ น ความต้ องการที่ตรงกัน !! และคงไม่ เ ฉพาะท่ า นผู้ ว่ า ฯ กั บ ผม เท่านันที ้ ่อยากเห็นเกาะภูเก็ต มีความสะอาด จนเป็ น ที่ ก ล่า วขาน ชื่ น ชมของคนทัง้ โลก ผมว่ายังมีคนภูเก็ต และคนที่รักภูเก็ต อีก มากมาย ที่ตา่ งก็มีความคิดดีๆ เช่นนี ้เหมือน กัน !! “ไม่ว่า จะเป็ น ปั ญหาอะไรก็ ต าม หาก ต้ องการแก้ ไขให้ สำ� เร็จลุลว่ ง ต้ องเริ่ มต้ นด้ วย การลงมือท�ำ” ยกตัวอย่าง“ประเทศญี่ปนุ่ ”ซึง่ ถือว่าเป็ น ประเทศโมเดลที่ประสบความส�ำเร็ จในการ แก้ ปั ญ หาขยะ โดยการแก้ ปั ญ หาเริ่ ม แรก รั ฐ บาลญี่ ปุ่ นประกาศว่า “ขยะ-เป็ น วาระ แห่งชาติ”ที่ทกุ คนในประเทศจะต้ องช่วยกัน แก้ ไข โดยหน่วยงานเทศบาลของแต่ละพื ้นที่ จะแจกคู่มือการแยกขยะ เพื่อให้ ประชาชน ทุกคนรู้จกั ประเภทของขยะอย่างละเอียด และช่วยกันแยกขยะจากในครัวเรื อน มีการ รณรงค์ให้ ประชาชนทิ ้งขยะให้ ถกู ที่และถูก ประเภท นอกจากนี ้ยังมีอาสาสมัครมาช่วย แยกประเภทขยะตามจุดต่างๆ ทัว่ เมือง เพื่อ ชี ้ให้ เห็นว่าประเทศญี่ปนุ่ ให้ ความส�ำคัญกับ การคัดแยกขยะที่ “ต้ นทาง” เพือ่ ให้ สอดคล้ อง

กับการก�ำจัดขยะที่“ปลายทาง” เมื่อภาครัฐมีการรณรงค์อย่างจริ งจัง ประชาชนก็ให้ ความร่วมมือ และปฎิบตั อิ ย่าง เคร่งครัดจนเคยชิน และกลายเป็ นวิถีประจ�ำ วันในที่สดุ กลับมาทีภ่ เู ก็ต อย่างทีผ่ มพูดไว้ วา่ “คงไม่ เฉพาะท่านผู้วา่ ฯ กับผม เท่านันที ้ ่อยากเห็น เกาะภูเก็ต มีความสะอาด คนภูเก็ต และคน ที่รักภูเก็ต อีกมากมาย ก็มีความคิดดีๆ เช่น นี ้เหมือนกัน” เพราะล�ำพังแค่ถนนบางลาสะอาดเพียง สายเดียว มันไม่เพียงพอที่จะเป็ นแรงส่งให้ ภูเก็ตเป็ นเมืองท่องเที่ยวมาตรฐานระดับโลก เป้าหมายของความส�ำเร็จจึงต้ องใหญ่ อย่าง ที่ท่านผู้ว่าฯ พูดไว้ คือ “ต้ องสะอาดทังเกาะ ้ ภูเก็ต” และต้ องไกล คือต้ องเมืองสะอาดใน ระดับแนวหน้ าของโลก “มันต้ องสะอาดเหมือนๆ กัน ในทุกเส้ น ทาง ทุกชุมชน โดยเฉพาะในพื ้นที่ทอ่ งเที่ยว ที่จะต้ องสะอาดจริ งๆ ซึ่งสิ่งเหล่านี จ้ ะเกิ ด ขึ ้นได้ ก็ต้องได้ รับความร่วมมือ ร่วมแรง ร่วม ทุน จากทุกภาคส่วน ไม่วา่ จะเป็ น ราชการ, องค์ กรปกครองสวนท้ องถิ่น, ธุรกิจเอกชน และประชาชนรวมถึงนักท่องเที่ยวทุกคน” การประกาศให้ ... “ขยะ-เป็ นวาระจังหวัด ภู เ ก็ ต ” เหมื อ นที่ ค รั ง้ หนึ่ ง ประเทศญี่ ปุ่ น เคยท�ำจนประสบความส�ำเร็ จสามารถแก้ ปั ญหาอย่างยัง่ ยืนมาแล้ ว ก็ถือว่าเป็ นการขับ เคลื่อนที่ควรค่าต่อการสนับสนุน ดังนัน้ จึงขึน้ อยู่กับบทบาทและภาวะ ผู้นำ� ของท่านผู้วา่ ฯ ซึง่ เปรียบเสมือนเป็ น “หัว ขบวนรถไฟ” ว่าจะน�ำพาผู้คนที่มีความคิด ดีๆ ซึง่ พร้ อมที่จะเป็ นพลังในการสร้ างสรรค์ สิ่ ง ดี ๆ ให้ กับ สัง คม ที่ มี อ ยู่ม ากมายเหล่า นี ้ ให้ เคลื่อนขบวนตามไปในทิศทางที่สร้ าง ประโยชน์ตอ่ เกาะภูเก็ตอย่างยัง่ ยืน ได้ อย่าง มีคณ ุ ภาพแค่ไหน ? ส�ำรั บผมบอกได้ เลย... สนับสนุนเต็ม ตัวครับ!! ประชุม DWP Congress 2017 ถือเป็ นโอกาส ดีที่จะได้ แสดงให้ เห็นถึงความพร้ อมในการ รองรับการจัดงานแต่งงาน เส้ นทางท่องเที่ยว เพื่อดื่มน� ้ำผึ ้งพระจันทร์ ที่พกั ระดับหรู หรา การคมนาคมที่พร้ อมสรรพ รวมไปถึงธุรกิจ อื่นๆที่เกี่ยวข้ อง อาทิ ชุดแต่งงาน ของช�ำร่วย การจัดดอกไม้ เรื อยอร์ ช เป็ นต้ นนอกจากนี ้ ประเทศไทย นายยุท ธศัก ดิ์ สุภ สร ผู้ว่ า การ ททท. กล่าวว่า ททท. ได้ เล็งเห็นถึงความส�ำคัญของ กลุม่ ตลาดคูแ่ ต่งงานซึง่ สามารถสร้ างรายได้ ทางการท่องเที่ยวให้ ประเทศไทยได้ ในระดับ สูงคูแ่ ต่งงานจะมีการใช้ จา่ ยประมาณ 5 - 20 ล้ านบาทต่อครัง้ ขึ ้นอยูก่ บั จ�ำนวนของผู้ร่วม

3 Megatrends in Tourism

conomic Intelligence Center (EIC) at Siam Commercial Bank revealed 3 main “Megatrends” that are driving tourism in Thailand. The 3 megatrends include 1. Elderly tourists 2.Tourism industry development in many countries and 3.Digital technology development. As for now, Phuket Times would like to focus on the elderly tourists trend while the other two trends will be written in later issues. Mr. Withan Charernpol, the Director of the Business Cluster EIC stated that the main tourist market across the globe is often provided by countries that have developed a good “elderly society” with over 20% of their population being elderly (60 years up). The top 10 Countries with the highest level of tourism spending are mostly highly developed countries with a large number of elderly population such as Germany and the United Kingdom. As for China, though it has the highest level of tourism spending, it is not yet in the “good elderly society” category though expected to have an elderly population of 25% in the year 2030. Even more so, the elderly tourist demographic has grown exponentially in recent years compared to other age groups. For example, the United Kingdom has seen elderly traveling to other countries up from 18% to 25% in the years 2009-2015. Also, the numbers for UK’s retired demographic traveling to other countries is up from 13% to 15%. These numbers show that there is a clear growing interest on travel by the elderly. Numbers also show that the majority of elderly tourists are from the “baby boomer” generation which have demonstrated a different style of touring spending roughly 1.5 times as much as “Millennial and X” generations. Survey results from “TripAdvisor.com” showed that the “baby boomer” generation tourists enjoy recreation and experiencing the local culture while airline tickets and hotels showed much less importance. Also, they will often find most of their travel information through printed resources. This behavior is practically opposite of the Millenial Generation which gives the most importance to airline and hotel prices while searching most information online. Generation X often finds itself somewhere in between still giving much importance to price evaluation

In addition, elderly tourists value to quality of their tour experience and can still travel during the low season as well which greatly helps the health of the tourist industry. Since the elderly often have a lot of free time, they are not only able to come in the low season to avoid tourist traffic but are also able to come for a longer period of time such as 15-30 days. The elderly’s travel tendencies often lean towards safer and more convenient travel which also contributes to their higher level of tour spending. Elderly tourists can generally be categorized into two groups. The first group is those who come out on holiday for relaxation. The second group is those who are looking for a place to spend their retirement. Many choose Thailand as a retirement destination after once spending a holiday earlier in their life. Tourism statistics show the elderly tourists on average have a 9% higher spending rate than that of other tourists and account for 13% of all tourism spending. Elderly tourists have proven to be a valuable market for the Thai economy when considering their numbers; trip averages of 10.72 days and 50,648 Baht in spending create yearly foreign revenue income of 183 billion Baht. “Therefore tourist agencies should consider the sales of “slow tour packages” to better accommodate the demands of elderly tourists while raising the tour price by 37% to cover time lost.” The majority of elderly tourists set for retirement are from highly developed countries that have an economic growth rate of 18% or higher. Therefore their home living costs are far higher than that of Thailand making our home an ideal location for a good retirement. In fact, the Global Retirement Index 2016 from International Living revealed that Thailand was ranked number 7 worldwide for most popular retirement getaways. In addition, the change in the Thai Government’s policies for the Non-Immigrant Visa O-A (Long Stay) from 1 year to 10 years has made retirement in Thailand even more attractive for the elderly tourist market. Lastly, this change has also caught the interest of many tourists who may be considering spending retirement away from home in the future.

เป็ น 15% ยิ่งเป็ นการตอกย� ้ำให้ เห็นว่านัก ท่องเที่ยวสูงอายุก�ำลังมีความส�ำคัญมาก ขึ ้นเรื่ อย ๆ ทัง้ นี ้ กลุ่มนักท่องเที่ ยวสูงอายุซึ่งส่วน ใหญ่อยูใ่ นเจเนอเรชัน่ "เบบี ้ บูมเมอร์ " มีไลฟ์ สไตล์ทอ่ งเทีย่ วทีแ่ ตกต่างและการใช้ จา่ ยท่อง เที่ยวที่สงู กว่า "เจน X" และ "มิลเลนเนียลส์" ถึง 1.5 เท่า และ 3 เท่า ตามล�ำดับ จากผลส�ำรวจของเว็บไซต์ "ทริ ปแอดไว เซอร์ " พบว่า นักท่องเที่ยวสูงอายุกลุ่มเบบี ้ บูมเมอร์ ชืน่ ชอบการท่องเทีย่ วเชิงสันทนาการ และสัม ผัส กับ วิ ถี ชี วิ ต คนท้ อ งถิ่ น ราคาตั๋ว เครื่ องบินหรื อโปรโมชัน่ ที่พกั ไม่มีผลต่อการ ตัดสินใจมากนักและยังคงใช้ สื่อสิง่ พิมพ์ใน การหาข้ อมูลท่องเที่ยว ซึง่ ตรงกันข้ ามกับมิลเลนเนียลส์ที่คอ่ น ข้ างให้ ความส�ำคัญกับเรื่ องของราคาและมัก ใช้ สื่อออนไลน์ เพื่อเปรี ยบเทียบข้ อมูลก่อน ท�ำการจอง โดยเฉพาะราคาตัว๋ เครื่องบินขณะ ที่ เจน X จะเป็ นกลุม่ ที่มีลกั ษณะกลาง ๆ โดย จะเน้ นที่ความคุ้มค่าของราคา และให้ ความ สนใจกับโปรโมชัน่ ที่พกั นอกจากนี ้ กลุ่มนักท่องเที่ยวสูงอายุให้ ความส�ำคัญกับคุณภาพของการท่องเที่ยว และสามารถเดินทางในช่วงนอกฤดูกาล (โลว์ซีซนั่ ) ซึ่งเป็ นโอกาสสร้ างรายได้ ให้ กับ อุตสาหกรรมท่องเที่ยว ทังนี ้ ้เนือ่ งจากนักท่องเทีย่ วสูงอายุมเี วลา ว่างค่อนข้ างมาก ท�ำให้ นิยมท่องเที่ยวในช่วง นอกฤดูกาลเพื่อหลีกเลี่ยงความแออัด และ มีระยะเวลาท่องเที่ยวนาน ตังแต่ ้ 15 วัน ถึง 1 เดือน ทังยั ้ งให้ ความส�ำคัญในเรื่ องความ สะดวกและความปลอดภัยในการเดินทาง ท�ำให้ มีคา่ ใช้ จา่ ยในการท่องเที่ยวที่สงู นักท่องเที่ยวสูงอายุตา่ งชาติในไทย สามารถแบ่งได้ เป็ น 2 กลุม่ หลัก ได้ แก่ 1.กลุม่ ท่องเทีย่ วเพือ่ พักผ่อน และ 2.กลุม่ พ�ำนักระยะ ยาวเพื่อใช้ ชีวิตหลังเกษี ยณ ซึง่ ส่วนใหญ่จะ เคยมีประสบการณ์การท่องเที่ยวในไทยมา ก่อน ท�ำให้ มีความคุ้นเคยและความประทับ ใจ เมื่อถึงวัยเกษี ยณอายุ จึงตัดสินใจย้ าย มาอยูไ่ ทย จากสถิติการใช้ จา่ ยพบว่า นักท่องเที่ยว สูงอายุต่างชาติในไทย ใช้ จ่ายในการท่อง

เที่ยวสูงกว่านักท่องเที่ยวทัว่ ไปกว่า 9% และ มีสว่ นแบ่งรายได้ ถงึ 13% ของรายได้ จากนัก ท่องเที่ยวต่างชาติทงหมด ั้ มีคา่ ใช้ จา่ ยต่อคน เฉลี่ยอยูท่ ี่ 4,728 บาทต่อวัน ซึง่ ต�่ำกว่าค่าใช้ จ่ายเฉลี่ยของนักท่องเที่ยวทัว่ ไปราว 4% แต่ ระยะเวลาพ�ำนักที่นานกว่า 1.25 วัน หรื อ เฉลี่ย 10.72 วัน ท�ำให้ คา่ ใช้ จา่ ยของนักท่อง เทีย่ วสูงอายุตอ่ ทริปสูงถึง 50,684 บาทต่อคน สร้ างรายได้ ให้ กบั ไทยราว 1.83 แสนล้ านบาท ในปี 2015 ถือเป็ นหนึง่ ตลาดคุณภาพของการ ท่องเที่ยวไทย “ดังนัน้ ธุรกิจน�ำเที่ยวควรเพิ่มแพ็กเกจ ท่องเที่ยวแบบไม่เร่งรี บ (Slow Tourism) ซึง่ ก�ำลังเป็ นที่นิยมและเหมาะกับความต้ องการ ของนักท่องเที่ ยวสูงอายุ โดยราคาแพ็กเก จนันอาจสู ้ งกว่าแพ็กเกจท่องเที่ยวทัว่ ไปราว 37% แต่สามารถตอบสนองความต้ องการ ของผู้สงู อายุได้ ” ส�ำหรับตลาดนักท่องเที่ยวสูงอายุที่นิยม ใช้ ชีวิตหลังเกษี ยณในไทย ส่วนใหญ่มาจาก ประเทศพัฒนาแล้ ว โดยมีอตั ราการเติบโต ประมาณ 18% ต่อปี เนื่องจากภาวะค่าครอง ชีพในประเทศที่ไม่สงู ส่งผลให้ ผ้ สู งู อายุจาก กลุม่ ประเทศพัฒนาแล้ วหันไปใช้ บนปลาย ั้ ชีวิตในประเทศที่มีอตั ราค่าครองชีพต�่ำกว่า เพื่อให้ ได้ คณ ุ ภาพชีวิตที่ดี ซึ่ ง จากการจั ด อั น ดั บ ใน Global Retirement Index 2016 ของ International Living ไทยจัดอยู่ในอันดับที่ 7 ที่ผ้ ูสงู อายุ นิ ย มมาใช้ ชี วิ ต หลัง วัย เกษี ย ณ ว่ า กั น ว่ า ตลาดนีส้ ร้ างรายได้ ให้ กับไทยราว 6-7 พัน ล้ านบาทต่อปี ทีส่ ำ� คัญ นโยบายของรัฐบาลไทยในเรื่ อง ของการออกวีซ่าประเภท Non-Immigrant Visa O-A (Long Stay) ซึ่งเป็ นการขยาย ระยะเวลาการพ�ำนักระยะยาวของผู้เกษี ยณ อายุต่างชาติจาก 1 ปี เป็ น 10 ปี ถือเป็ น แรงดึงดูดส�ำคัญที่ท�ำให้ ผ้ สู งู อายุตา่ งชาติเข้ า มาอยูใ่ นไทยมากขึ ้น ที่ ส� ำ คัญ ยั ง ท� ำ ให้ นั ก ท่ อ งเที่ ย วกลุ่ ม สูงอายุใช้ เวลาในการเรี ยนรู้และได้ รับ ประสบการณ์การท่องเที่ยวยาวนานกว่าการ ท่องเที่ยวแบบปกติ

The governor shared that a big part of increasing the quality and value of our farmed goods is the use of chemical free growth methods. Therefore, Phuket will be looking at supporting organic farming methods starting from with Phuket’s prime crop pineapples. This goal requires the partnership of various companies and especially hotels and restaurants who serve pineapples first hand.

ANZAC Memorial Day

e c e n t l y, M r. C r a i g Ferguson the Head Consul of Australia in Phuket organized the ANZAC Memorial Day event at the Phuket Yacht Club in Chalong Bay. The event was joined by high government officials, shop owners and locals. ANZAC Day is an important holiday for both Australians and New Zealanders as it marks the day in which many brave soldiers from Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain, India and France attacked the Gallipoli Peninsula and lost tremendous numbers back in WWI over a hundred years ago. Therefore, an annual memorial has been set to go respects to the soldiers who lost their lives on that day.

Pisona Group Company offers Helmets to Students 4

ecently, at Ban Kalim School in Patong, Gen Chaiwat Ueykam the Chief of Police at the Patong Police Station was the opening speaker in the event “Reg 8 Safe Everyday Every Age Wearing Helmets 100%” where Pisona Group donated 219 helmets to students.

The Patong Chief of Police shared that the purpose of this event was to encourage motorcycle drivers to see the necessity and importance of wearing helmets while driving. Also, the event will help improve clarity and/or respect for the new Thai law which requires 100% of drivers to wear helmets while driving.

Phang Nga aimed towards building the first underwater observatory in Asia

he Khao Lak Defense Foundation prepares construction plan for the first underwater observatory in Asia. The museum will present 20 2.5 ton cargo vehiclesfrom the decommissioned armory. Mr. Manit Pianthong the District Director of Phang Nga was the main speaker in the meeting held by Khao Lak Defense Foundation in order to set plans for the settling of the decommissioned armory including 20 2.5 ton cargo vehicles on April 23rd 2017. This will become the very first underwater observatory in Asia and is also designed to help the local sea environment as wished by the Princess. Mrs. Sompong Daopiset, the Director of the Khao Lak Defense Foundation revealed results from the creation of a manmade coral reef consisting of 13 retired ships

at the bottom. The results showed positive restoration and growth for sea live. The new underwater observatory will not only help improve the environment of the sea life but will also help spread out the popular scuba diving tours in the area. Overall, the project will drastically improve the long term effects of the tourism on the Andaman Sea.

The event was joined by honorary guests including Mr. Watcharin Patomwatanapong, the Director of the Operations for the Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization, the Mayor of Phuket, Provincial Assembly members, Royal Governmental Leaders, community leaders and citizens. Mr. Plodtong shared that it was

a great opportunity and that he’s glad he got the chance to meet with citizens in rather unreached areas and learn more about the matters at hand in order to seek out a solution that meets the precise needs of the people. Mr. Patomwatanapong also shared that this project has always been an excellent way for our provincial assembly and governmental leaders to meet with and listen to various issues from the citizen’s point of view by giving them a voice on the “citizen’s stage”. ne of the main things that makes Miss Grand International different is that the winner of the pageant must come and work with us for 1 year. Though we have been running for only 5 or 6 years, we still hear people saying every day that they would love to go to the Miss Grand Pageant. As for Miss Grand Thailand, Channel 7 has the rights to the show and I still get to oversee it which is great. As for Project Miss Grand 77 Provinces, we have seen much success particularly in this last year where it has really raised through the ranks. The TAT gives a New Face to the Tourism Map App

he Tourism Authority o f T h a i l a n d ( TAT ) introduces the latest version of the Thailand Tourism Map Application with added features to help tourists during their travels all throughout Thailand. Ms. Plernpit Muenpol, the Director of the Offices of Information Technology revealed that the Thailand Tourism Map Application is programmed as a “layer map” in order to give tourist more detailed information for their travels as well as an API –

Application Programming Interface. The new app research and surveying resources were providing by both the TAT and Nostra Map who have many experts in the field of information technology. The combined resources from both the well-trusted Nostra Map and widespread locational data from the TAT help insure reliable navigation and locational tools. Also, the application includes recommended tour destinations based on your location and length of stay.

he Novotel Phuket Vintage Park hosted the Planet 21, “Soap for Hope” and “Linens for Life”, demonstration by The Phuket Community Foundation and Credit Union housewives occupation group on April 19 2017. The projects, led by Sealed Air Company, provide used soaps and unwanted linens from hotels to convert them into new useful products such as new bars of soap, clothing, pillow cases or bags, which generating additional income to local Rassada community. As a result, the event raised about 10,000 THB for supporting community projects. “Jazz for the King 2” in Patong Next Month

he Andaman Nature Conservation Foundation is organizing the “Jazz for King 2” Concert on May 19-20th at Loma Park in Patong, Phuket. The concert will be performed by some of the world’s best jazz musicians both Thai and foreign such as Dr. Denny Euprasert (Jazz Quintet) from the School of Music at Rangsit University. The event will also host special guests such as Ui-Rawiwan Jinda, Ford- Sopchai Kraiyurasen, Tanis Sriklindi and Steve Cannon and

trumpet player from The U.S.A. The entire event will be filled will both hit songs and royal songs all set in a jazz style to honor the former king. For those interested in joining the event, the activities will be divided into two parts. The first day (May 19th) will be the “Natural Conservation for the King” activity while the “Jazz for King 2” Concert will be organized on May 20th at Loma Park at 7:00pm to 10:00pm. The entire event is free!
