Tunnel Bar and Eatery opened its doors on Friday May 17th with an exclusive party for socialites and trend setters, before members of the public were given a taste of the action with some of Bangkok s top Djs providing the sounds from the nightspot s play lists. The aptly named venue aims to provide a different entertainment experience from its Sukhumvit 12 home.

Conrad Bangkok Welcomes Back Tabitha King Tabitha with Kevin Bacon One of Bangkok s favourite jazz singers has taken up residence at the Diplomat Bar at Conrad Bangkok once more. Tabitha King is making her fourth visit to the bar, and her fifth visit to Bangkok in total. The North Carolina native now calls Atlanta home, but spends most of the year on the road. Tabitha has just finished stints in Russia and Vietnam, spends most of her touring time in Asia, and names Thailand as her favourite destination. The singing star has been rubbing shoulders with other celebrities recently. During her visit to the Diplomat Bar two years ago she was surprised to see movie and TV star Kevin Bacon relaxing over a cocktail. She was even more surprised when the actor joined her on stage for a rendition of Midnight Train to Georgia . And while in Hanoi earlier this month she was watched by Joan Baez, who was in town visiting the bunker that served as the set of one of her earliest music videos. Red Sky High Chef Mikko’s New Daily Menu Dining out in Bangkok remains an ever changing experience, with a plethora of new outlets opening weekly so it seems. The city is also now host to a vast selection of rooftop venues. But one of the originals still remains one of the best, with the views from the 55th floor of Red Sky being hard to beat. And there is another reason to visit Red Sky these days, with chef Mikko Kataja implementing a new menu of daily specials. Chef Mikko hails from Finland and is a recent arrival at Red Sky, joining via way of London, where he served in some of the city s finest dining establishments, becoming a master in the art of French haute cuisine.

Chef Mikko (pictured below), has created a range of dishes that are easy on the eye, but are, more importantly appealing to the tastebuds. It was important that the tastes stand out as the most memorable experience of dining at Red Sky, he remarked due to the nature of the restaurant and its romantic low level llighting. Presentation still matters of course, but the views and the tastes are what we want people to remember.
The new daily menu: Monday, White stew of Kurobuta pork cheeks with morels. Tuesday, Veal shank braised in white wine, tomatoes and herbs. Wednesday, Charcoal grilled Wagyu ribeye 26oz. Thursday, Panroast skirt steak with shallot red wine sauce. Friday, Whole fresh Atlantic lemon sole panfried in Echire butter and flat parsley. Saturday, Bouchot mussels with white wine, garlic, thyme and parsley. Sunday, French Charolais beef tenderloin baked in puff pastry, slice of foie gras, red wine sauce. Available for dinner only from 6:00 pm to 11:30 pm.
