Chiang Mai Artist Thasnai Setheseree s New Exhibition The artist's exhibition of abstract artworks is a bold statement, encompassing paintings and sculptures that vary from stark black and white to contrasting riots of colours. Thasnai Sethaseree describes the work thus: "To the extent that fear always includes imaginary, ideological, and political elements, fear is always impure. Therefore, the mechanism of fear is neither essential nor phenomenal, present nor absent. The trembling of fear is not what is produced but is what allows for the possibility of freedom and political Destabilization. By blurring boundaries between disciplines, the ephemeral nature of this project makes visible the impurity of fear, and turns it into a temporary moment that can be continuously changed.
The crucial questions this project raises are central around the debatable areas of the politics of fear and the suppression in multiple perspectives in relation to the problems of increasingly dangerous risks that are represented and misrepresented by institutional agencies to our understanding of how realistic the politically fearful climate of paranoia and distrust is." Transstructurity can be viewed at 338 OIDA Gallery in Rama 4 Road in Bangkok until August 6th. The gallery is within a few steps of the MRT metro exit at Lumphini station. The artist is one of Chiang Mai s most famous, having exhibited around the world. He is presently Faculty Member at the Media Arts and Design Graduate Programme at Chiang Mai University.
