CHIVAS 18 BY PININFARINA LAUNCH AT SHERBET INTRODUCES SLEEK NEW SHAPES Whisky connoisseurs were treated to a lavish launch of the new streamlined bodies designed by Italian car design company Pininfarina at Sherbet in Ekamai on July 17th. Three new expensive cases have been created to present limited edition
collections of the new Chivas 18 whisky. Guests had the opportunity to taste the new product in three cocktail creations: Sparkling Peach, Tom Buchanan and Army and Navy. A selection of sultry lingerie designs then introduced guests to another set of heavenly bodies.

Village s Life Paintings and Prints Exhibition by Tinnakorn Kasornsuwan La Lanta Fine Art is pleased to announce a solo exhibition featuring paintings and prints by a renowned Thai contemporary artist, Tinnakorn Kasornsuwan. In the "Village s Life" exhibition, Tinnakorn continues to bring together different memories from his childhood in rural Thailand. Tinnakorn s artwork has predominant emphasis on forms found in country living such as farming tools, farm animals, farm products, houses, hay bales, and children s toys. His work presents a naïve style with nostalgic symbols in reference to his growing up experiences. The composition of cartoonlink images is partially codified, depicting contented life in the country and a happy memory for the artist. The exhibition will be on display at La Lanta Fine Art from August 6th until August 23rd, 2013.

Contemporary New Art Form Inspired by Ancient Thai Drama Ballet and opera have been combined in Suriyothai, the latest work by Somtow Sucharitkul. Celebrating Thailand s famous warrior queen, the production has been composed to honour the present Queen of Thailand. The cast will include hundreds of dancers, singers and extras, and is due to be performed on August 24th and 25th at Thailand Cultural Centre s Main Hall. Both matinees and evening performances have been scheduled. There is also a gala opening performance planned for August 23rd. Suriyothai will also feature a mix of western and indigenous musical instruments. The music from Suriyothai was played by the Siam Sinfonietta in Europe in 2012 and won the world championship in Musikverein in Vienna. Trisdee Na Patalung is scheduled to conduct a full orchestra of almost a hundred musicians in the new production. Choreography by Phuwarade Wongatitchart will be enhanced by spectacular costumes, and suitably moody lighting. Words and photos by Paul Hutton.

MAYA Upmarket Indian Restaurant Opens in Sukhumvit After one year of architectural planning and construction, Maya Restaurant and Bar at the Holiday Inn in Sukhumvit 22 is finally ready to impress. Opening its doors for the first time last Friday, the stylish enterprise utilises luxurious onyx black detailing, rare marbles, traditional Indian steel work and floor to ceiling windows to showcase the panoramic views of Bangkok from its lofty top floor setting. As you walk into Maya you will be met by the open kitchen housing Thailand s three biggest copper Tandoors and skilled chefs manning traditional clay ovens serving succulent chicken, fresh seafood, hand made breads and much more. The menu is based on traditional Northern Indian flavours but has been enhanced with modern treatment and presentation. Inspired signature dishes include Hare Nimbu Ki Jhinga Machli (tandoor grilled fresh Lobster marinated with kaffir lime and yellow chilli) and Sarson Salmon Tikka (bishop Seed and yellow chilli spiked Norwegian Salmon, served with spicy prawn and mustard oil chutney). Maya is also an architectural feat, being housed in the largest cantilevered building in Thailand, and jutting 20 metres out on an overhang from the main building. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has joined hands with Thai Airways International, Asia Web Direct, and more than 30 leading providers of health, beauty, and spa treatments to launch a digital marketing initiative promoting the country s thriving health and wellness industry. The campaign takes aim at women in the AsiaPacific market, including Thailand, who are looking for ways to rediscover themselves, and on offer is a wide selection of exclusive deals on wellness and beauty treatments, spa packages, and hotel stays in Thailand. According to TAT s Governor, Mr. Suraphon Svetasreni, From studies on medical tourists' behaviours, we learned that most of them research and book reservations for health and beauty services online. So we launched the 'Find Your Fabulous' digital marketing campaign to promote the health and beauty segment of Thailand's tourism industry.
