The brand new Jaguar FType was unveiled to an expectant Bangkok audience at the St. Regis on September 18th. A twoseater convertible, the FType is poised to become the definitive sports car in the Jaguar lineup, focused on performance, agility and driver involvement. All models come with a V6 or V8 engine coupled with a twinvortex supercharger.

Danai Chandrangam, General Manager City Automobiles Co. Ltd., Said, The launch of the new Jaguar FType is a significant milestone in Jaguar s history, confirming a new sporting era in which the brand has become truly alive. This sports car is uniquely suited to the Thai market, and for the Thai driver who loves the sporting spirit of the Jaguar brand. Supercharged engines, lightweight aluminium body construction and advanced driving technologies deliver a responsive and dramatic driving experience that is

second to none. The car excels in four areas, creating a unique position within the marketplace. The FType IS fast, FEELS fast, LOOKS fast and has enduring appeal. The FType combines cuttingedge technology with raw power. The weight and design give it natural agility, and stability is enhanced by active aerodynamics. The speed is derived from a combination of

either a V6 or V8 engine coupled with a twinvortex supercharger which is equipped on all models. Power of up to 495PS and torque of up to 625Nm add up to a lot of speed in a minimal amount of time; the FType is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.3 seconds. The top speed of 300km/h leaves no doubt that the car is built to deliver ultimate performance.

The closeratio 8speed Quickshift automatic gearbox allows for rapid gear changes and can be effortlessly controlled from steering wheel paddles as well as from the central console. The sports seats hug the figure of the driver and passenger, as the Active Sports Exhaust howls with a satisfying, rich sound in the upper rev range. The FType has a sensible yet sophisticated interior; the driver is left with the feeling of being in a cockpit, with neatly ordered form and elegant placement of instruments. The controls are a harmonious mix of touchscreen and analogue, adding a tactile element to the driving experience. It features a driverfocused interior design, with low seating position offering proximity to the centre of gravity and good visibility. All aspects of the car have been integrated to deliver a series of outstanding sensory experiences. The FType was designed on a platform based on not only luxury and performance, but on sustainability and superior usability. Its new Gen2 lightweight aluminum construction combined with its extensive use of recycled plastics and aluminum results in it being 85% recyclable and 95% recoverable. Fuel economy and efficiency are maximized by the 8speed Quickshift automatic transmission and the Intelligent Stop Start system. An array of options include a 12 second electric roof operation, a Blind Spot Monitor, Reverse Traffic Detection, and reversing cameras. Page 6 www.bangkokscene.com

Pink Elephant Breast Cancer Awareness Month at Blue Elephant

The Blue Elephant is making an effort to bring people together and raise awareness for breast cancer during the month of October. Chef Nooror Somany Steppe, Ambassador to the Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer (QSCBC), has collaborated with Dr. Kris Chatamra, Founder and Director of QSCRB, to identify specific herbs, fruits and vegetables rich in antioxidants, and those known to have anticancer qualities and antiinflammatory properties in order to create a special, highly nutritious, fivecourse menu entitled Pink Ribbon to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Fresh, organic ingredients such as Honey, Gac Fruit, Mimosa, Ginger, Soursop, Holy Basil, Mango Lime Yawn Ovation and Indian Mulberry have been used to conjure up a delicious series of innovative dishes such as Tom Jew Consommé (Clear beef consommé of tenderloin beef, sweet potatoes flavored with Thai holy basil and sweet basil), Rambutan Ivy leaf Soup with Soursop leaves (Rambutan stuffed with minced freerange Chicken and organic prawns, Ivy gourd and Soursop leaves), Indian Mulberry Rib Eye Curry (Prime Rib Eye beef grilled and braised in homemade southernstyle curry with Indian Mulberry leaves), Lesser Ginger Crab Soufflé (Fresh, crispy crab meat, homemade red curry paste, sweet basil leaves and lesser ginger), and Mango Pudding (Mango pudding with fresh mango coconut sticky rice and vanilla icecream encrusted with toasted Royal Project macadamia nuts and homemade Mango Lime Yawn Ovation compote). The Pink Ribbon menu, priced at Baht 1,980++ per person, will be available for lunch and dinner throughout the month of October. Guests can book the table now to show their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Guests who book the sixcourse Pink Ribbon menu will not only receive a souvenir created by a breast cancer survivor who volunteers for the cause but can rest assured that all proceeds raised from the sale of the Pink ribbon menu and souvenirs will also be donated towards Thai women in need at QSCBC. Six Senses Yao Noi launches an Exclusive Syrah Rosé by Thai Winemaker Nikki Visootha Lohitnavy Following on from the wonderful success of the Six Senses Chenin Blanc wine launched in November 2012, Six Senses Yao Noi has seen a very successful launch of a second exclusive wine, the Six Senses Syrah Rosé. For the Hilltop Reserve launch on 16th August, wine maker Nikki Lohitnavy Thailand s most dynamic, youngest and only female graduated oenologist and viticulturist, flew in to the resort to present the Rosé to guests and the resort team. The fresh, vibrant Rosé is produced from one hundred percent Syrah grapes grown in Thailand s Asoke Valley, which is a two hour drive northeast of Bangkok. Together with the resort, Nikki produced this exciting and fresh wine, which shows a red berry fruit and hint of red flowers on the nose, with a fresh citrusy acidity along with a tuttifruity finish. The wine is produced exclusively for Six Senses Yao Noi, expressly with the cuisine in mind. It captures the essence of the resort, which is all about freshness, and innovation. It is sustainably produced a key factor for the resort. Nikki Lohitnavy is the youngest winemaker in Thailand, and just happens to be a woman. She studied Oenology at Adelaide University in Australia. When she arrived there in 2005 she was the first Thai student to take the intensive fouryear course.

Porsche Panamera S EHybrid Launched at Intercontinental Bangkok AAS Auto Service (AAS), the sole authorized importer and distributor of Porsche cars in Thailand, introduced the second generation Panamera S EHybrid at Intercontinental Hotel on September 24th. The Porsche Panamera S EHybrid is the world s first plugin hybrid in the luxury class and it is equipped with 416 hp of system power. The new Panamera S EHybrid underscores its exceptional positioning with an even more expressive design language in the style of the new sports car generations that are marked by tighter lines, more pronounced contours and newly shaped body elements. The Panamera S EHybrid is a systematically advanced development of the parallel full hybrids with a more powerful electric motor, a higherperformance battery that supplies more energy and the ability to charge it externally from the

electrical grid. The electric drive produces 95 hp (70 kW), which is more than double the power of the previous model s electric motor at 47 hp (34 kW). It draws its energy from a newly developed lithiumion battery, which at 9.4 kWh has over five times the 1.7 kWh energy capacity of the previous battery in nickel metal hydride technology. Depending on the type of external electrical supply, the battery may be fully charged within as little as a few hours, and the battery is recharged by electrical system recuperation while driving. The comfortable eightspeed automatic Tiptronic S operates in the Panamera S EHybrid and this transmission creates optimal conditions for further development of other efficiency functions. For example, the extended startstop function now deactivates the engine earlier while coasting to a stop, which saves more fuel. The new Panamera S EHybrid also offers many differentiating exterior characteristics. Further customisation is achieved by the numerous options that are offered, including the new LED headlights, which give the Gran Turismo a very special appearance.

It s Personal: A Photographic Exhibition by Ekkarat Punyatara It's my personal, maybe. It's your personal, maybe. It's somebody's personal, maybe. Through It s Personal , a year long project, Ekkarat Punyatara, a young and emerging Thai documentary photographer observed and documented the lives of the monks in New York. The thoughts that were shared between him and monks he defined as his 'teachers', he had ultimately developed his understanding towards Buddhism's method, The Middle Way, the personal journey of each person's mind observing very tiny feelings and moods for control and cognition of who we are. It's Personal visualises the monks; the way how they live and their personal journeys through their simple daily life as human beings who stand firm on Buddha's path, not as the holy saint, the illusion Ekkarat had felt in Thailand before he pursues this story. Ekkarat believes that we all are surrounded by lures, which our mood and temper are easily aroused. He intends to use It's Personal as a tool to provoke his audiences to observe the feelings, which are aroused through this 'Personal' story. Ekkarat Punyatara was born and raised in Bangkok. He studied Photography and Cinematography at Bangkok Technical Campus. Currently he s a staff photographer at National Geographic Magazine (Thai edition.)

The exhibition will be on at Kathmandu Photo Gallery in Silom from 5 October 10 November 2013
