Full Moon Weddings
Couples in search of nuptials with a difference need look no further: AHMS The Collection has announced it will introduce Full Moon Weddings at each of its four Thailand resorts and has begun accepting reservations. The concept was pioneered by Aleenta Hua Hin-Pranburi last year, when couples were invited to tie the knot at midnight by moonlight - an initiative aimed at couples with a taste for the dark and mysterious side of life. AHMS founder and managing director Anchalika Kijkanakorn, said the Aleenta Hua Hin initiative had been popular with adventurous couples. She was now looking forward to each of the collection's four Thailand resorts in Greater Phuket, Koh Samui and Pranburi, near Hua Hin, putting their own unique stamp on the concept. Ms Kijkanakorn, who is also Chairman of Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH), said the experience was in keeping with a trend towards ever more unique and buzz-worthy ways of getting married. "Brides and grooms are always looking for something unique, a way to stamp their wedding as their own," she said. "AHMS Full Moon Weddings promise the ultimate bragging rights and a Big Day - or rather, Big Night - that the wedding party and all of your guests will never forget. "It will appeal to night owls, romantics and people who are unafraid to defy convention and break the mould. It's the non-cookie-cutter take on the tropical beach wedding. "Let's face it," she added, "some of us just aren't morning people." Full Moon Weddings at Aleenta Hua Hin-Pranburi The original package remains available at Aleenta Hua Hin-Pranburi, with a chauffeured car ride or optional Harley-Davidson motorcycle transfer to the moonlit beaches of Pranburi, and to the front door of the resort at Paknampran Bay. Full Moon Weddings at Aleenta Phuket-Phang Nga It's a wonderful night for a moon dance now that the blue moon sees you're no longer alone. Aleenta Phuket redefines the essence of a uniquely blissful luxurious wedding and honeymoon with its take on Full Moon Weddings held on the shimmering, pristine sands of Natai Beach, the 'Hamptons' of Greater Phuket. Full Moon Weddings at AKARYN Samui On ultra-private and beautiful Hanuman Bay, Full Moon nights are a sight to behold. Reflections shimmer in the half moon cove as the bright orb begins its rise. New Rolls Royce Ghost Arrives in Thailand
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is delighted to present Ghost V-Specification in Thailand, a unique series of Ghost and Ghost Extended Wheelbase motor cars that are only available for a limited period. It will be on display on the second floor of Siam Paragon Mall, where Rolls-Royce’s first Boutique showroom in Asia is located. This debut also marks the first anniversary since the opening of the Boutique showroom. Designed to aid customers in the creative process of commissioning a Rolls-Royce motor car, the two-car showroom is a smaller, intimate space where customers are invited to use their imagination, sample examples of wood and leather or select from a palette of 44,000 different colours. Thailand is one of the very few markets in the region with two showroom facilities, underlining its importance to Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. Chatvithai Tantraporn, Deputy Managing Director for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Bangkok, commented, “I am very pleased to have Ghost V-Specification debuting in the Boutique showroom, a fitting way to celebrate its first year anniversary. Both are exemplars of how we create every car as commissioned by our customers.” Ghost V-Specification “This limited series celebrates one of Ghost’s defining characteristics; the exquisite 6.6 litre Rolls-Royce V12 engine,” said Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Chief Executive Officer, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. “Since its introduction in 2009 an extraordinary marriage of assured presence and remarkable driving dynamics has endeared Ghost to a new generation of highly discerning businessmen and women, ensuring the car’s position as the statement of choice for a growing band of successful entrepreneurs around the world.” At the heart of the Ghost’s driving experience is its hallmark V12 engine. Acceleration is delivered with a characteristic immediacy and smoothness, propelling occupants from 0 to 60 km/h in just 4.9 seconds with 80 per cent of power available from idle. This unique powertrain is celebrated with a 30bhp power increase on all Ghost V-Specification motor cars. Elegantly applied design touches hint at Ghost V-Specification’s inherent dynamism. V-Specification motif coachlines finish the exterior paint-scheme while customers can either choose from five specially selected exterior colours, or from Rolls-Royce’s 44,000 hue palette. Optional visible chrome exhausts and 21” part-polished wheels add further expression to the car’s dynamic promise. The V-Specification motif is echoed around the car’s handcrafted interior through engraving to the treadplates, embroidery to the rear armrest and hand-applied steel inlays to the front multimedia screen lid. The interior is completed with an exclusively designed clock with a black crown surrounding the face. The V-Specification car to debut in Thailand comes in Infinity Black, which is one of the Commission Collection paints. Asia Pacific expansion With the recent appointment of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Phnom Penh, the brand is represented in 15 markets and 26 cities in the Asia Pacific region outside of China. The company has recently inaugurated new dealerships in emerging markets such as the Philippines and Vietnam, as well as increasing its network in more established markets such as Australia (Western Australia, Queensland); India (Ahmedabad, Chandigarh); Japan (Osaka); and Taiwan (Taichung). In Thailand, the brand opened its first Asian Boutique showroom in a Bangkok luxury shopping mall. Rolls-Royce Motor Cars This year, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars celebrates its 110th year of excellence. Founders Charles Rolls and Henry Royce met for the first time in May 1904 and agreed to form a company that would become synonymous with the very best.
Vira’s Etchings Sombat Permpoon Gallery’s New Exhibition 15th August - 15th October
Sombat Permpoon Gallery is delighted to present a rare series of etching art prints by a leading figure of Thai modern art, Vira Jothaprasert, who was born in 1934 in Bangkok and died in 2002. He was a leading figure of Thai modern art. Vira received a B.F.A from Silpakorn University and in 1962 he received a Scholarship to further his education in Italy at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma. Vira specialized in watercolour and etching techniques. He is remembered as one of the few artists dedicated to the arts of prints, etchings and monotypes. The artist applied traditional Thai painting styles by showing subjects in his works in two dimensions without perspective. He also adorned his expertise of water colours on the prints at the end of his printing process. Vira’s works resembled the early period of Thai visual art, which combined both western techniques and Thai spirit.
