Back to School, Back to Structure!

Can you see the end of summer? It's almost here! Thank Heaven. Kids can be hardheaded when it comes time to getting back into daily routines, structured days and homework nights. And some parents are also reluctant to get back into the routine of school. Which baffles me because, the week or so before don't you start really preparing? No Matter whether, your child is returning to elementary school or middle school, oh yea or even High School, here are 10 tips to help make the transition back to school a success.

1) It begins with Bedtime Hour- Start by sending them to bed at least 45 minutes before bedtime. This will help them adjust to the school schedule.

2) Make sure to check the list twice for school supplies- Of course you got supplies early. But then they say of yea we need this!

3) Make a place to do homework every night-

This place should contain all of the

supplies that will be necessary to complete homework i.e. lots of pencils and erasers, a ruler, scissors, paper, markers, etc. Dedicate this place and supplies to this place. This will help with less confusion.

4) Explore and Implement kid-friendly breakfast and lunch ideas- Shop for easy, nutritious foods that pack a lot of protein into your child's lunches. A Good Balance Of Protein enhances neural connections in the brain. Ultimate Woman International August/ September 2015

5) Organization is key- Develop a filing system for all of the paperwork‌. that comes home.

7) Develop Daily Strategies- Accomplish as much as you can the night before each school day. Check Homework, Weather, etc..

8) Know the Teaches-. Ask the teacher for an outline of the day's activities so you can prepare your child. Also find out the teacher's expectations for homework. It's a good idea to take a picture of your child with his/her teacher and post it on the fridge. Make sure your child knows his/her way around the School campus. Met and know other parents and set play date.

9) Daily Rituals- It can be helpful to create a ritual with your kids that keeps you on the path to a successful school year. It might be creating a scrapbook to keep track of memorable events of the year and with new friends and fun events.

10) Stay Consistent- This is key! Once school has started, ask your child what the rules are. As time goes on in the year ask them questions to keep them engaged in the rules. This can be especially important for High School Students. I know I have had one and now another ohh la la..

I hope that these tips will help for you and your child/ children have a successful, fun filled and educated school year. Being a parent is a privilege. It is not only up to the people that we trust to educate our children it is up to us to nurture them, love them and keep them on the right path to success. Good Luck and happy parenting! Anne

Parenting, Love and Patience!

6) Be familiar with bus, and campus safety rules.

Now that the kids are back in school, What do you want to do in your spare time? Shopping is one of the best de-stressors. Take time for your self. Our course you can get paid to shop. Mystery shopping is a great way to make some extra cash. Some women make it a full time job. Honestly wouldn't you love to get paid for something that you love to do. SHAPING THE GEMS OF OUR TOMORROW INTO VALUABLE ASSETS… ONE YOUNG LADY AT A TIME

Women in Business

Transforming Contacts into Relationships: Building a Power Network You’ve heard it everywhere –books, Blogs, Twitter, Workshops. If you want to grow your business, network, network, network. But what does that mean? Networking is more than the sum of your contacts – it’s the depths of your relationships. Here’s how to transform your contacts into relationships and build a power network.

First, building a good network doesn’t happen overnight. It takes hard work, but the good news is it can be fun, too. Your network will be filled with creative, driven people. They will be a font of knowledge, experience and inspiration. They will become your biggest cheerleaders.

Networking is more than passing out business cards. It is about forming strong connections with professionals who can help you grow your business. I call these power partners – those with whom you can form a mutually beneficial relationship. Get to know your power partners, then figure out how you can help them. Why? Because that’s how you earn their trust. Once you earn their trust, they’ll return the favor and figure out how to help you.

Trust doesn’t magically happen – it takes time and consistency. Invest in people you enjoy spending time with. You must be genuine in your attempts. Trying to befriend everyone isn’t going to cut it. Be professional and caring. Yes, it is possible to be both, especially when you choose to power partner with people you enjoy being with and can learn from.

Ultimate Woman International August/ September 2015

Wendy’s Tips Follow up. Be creative in the ways you keep in touch. Invite your colleagues to other networking meetings, schedule “coffee dates,” send emails just to say “Hello.” The good old fashioned phone call still works wonders. Bottom line, follow-up is essential in developing relationships and keeping them healthy. The goal is to build strong and meaningful (and mutually beneficial) relationships based on mutual respect.

Joining a network group isn’t enough. You have to be seen. And the quickest way to be seen is to volunteer. Hand out programs, guide people to their seats, tend bar. On the other hand, don’t spread yourself too thin. You can’t be the ambassador for every group you are invited to. Find groups filled with your target clients, groups that speak to you, and let the others go. You don’t want to be so busy attending functions you run out of time to actually do work.

Find a balance between networking and working. Some professionals see their networking as their social life – which is fine if it fits in with your business plan and your family life. Be honest and limit your groups if they become too much. To get the most out of networking 1) do it, and 2) do it strategically. Stretch your comfort zone and find two to three groups to attend and see the possibility for broader relationships. Once you find those groups, it is time turn those contacts into relationships.

The Truth about Advertising Business owners today dread advertising their business. But the truth is that if you don’t put the word out about your business you won’t be in Business. It really comes down to what avenues are available, how effective they will be, timing and cost. Let’s talk about the different types of advertising for just a moment. You could put an ad in print, like a newspaper, magazine, social media, or if you like even stand on the corner dressed up, but depending on your budget some of these will cost money, others will cost time. However, they can reach your target market instantaneously and be effective. So try some and see which ones you like best and stick with them. Do try other things you might be surprised at who you might meet.

Also, Understanding the importance of advertising in a multitude of places will be key to your success and maximize your exposure. Learn about the timing of advertising for your businesses. For instance in certain parts of the country business slows down. Like Arizona, it’s HOT! So What, right? I find that some business owners are charging full speed ahead with not boundaries. Wise! That way you are staying consistent and being an efficient marketer. Congratulations. It’s takes years to achieve this critical part of your business. Now let’s not forget about the cost of advertising. If you have a business plan like most do or need too, you can stay on budget for the most part but, this also needs to have some flexibility. Advertising costs can get out of control. Find some of the best avenues that have a cost that will allow you to advertise in several places at one time.

There will come the occasional time when you find a new venue for advertising your business. If it makes sense make it happen! Now let’s wrap up with these final thoughts. To get the results you desire, have a plan and stick to it. You will of course need follow through. I like the article “Goal Setting” by Carmen Parks featured in this issue of Ultimate Woman International. But you have to check out her book “How to Believe in Yourself” Carmen gives some real inspiration and great information find it at mindbodybalance.biz

Meet our Cover Woman ,Jessica Roberts Perseverance and Purpose I worked many years accomplishing the normal life. Hoping for that great reward of freedom, happiness, and success. In my normal life perception, I accomplished this. However, I felt there was more. I changed my perception and found it. It was in the form of perseverance and purpose, this became my reality. My normal life:

I graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Microbiology. I have a state and national credential in Environmental Health and worked for Maricopa County for almost eight years which I recently left to finish out a master’s degree in public health along with obtaining pre-licensure in nursing. From the outside, this is a successful, busy resume. The reality is a bit different: First, I realize that obstacles and challenges are part of the journey and part of creating an individual that strives for the best. For example, I was in a near fatal accident a few years ago. I was in intensive care unit for several days and hospitalized for several more. Many people, including myself, worried I would not succeed or ever walk again. I graduated college on time and finished the last few major assignments of my science degree the following semester. Most recently, I encountered a large road block that could have ruined or devastated many. I decided it was a detour and instead started two companies while finishing a master’s degree with Grand Canyon University and haven’t looked back Some get comfortable in good times, while it seems that I thrive when pain, defeat, and fear appear. I know what it looks like, feels like, and how to beat it and win! I found a part of me I never imagined - a strength and ability that only comes from being broken to the core. Ultimate Woman International August/ September 2015

From this, I chose to volunteer my time with various organizations and have met people I have been able to share this story with. I have gained friends I never imagined who remind me daily that I am their inspiration and represent the human spirit in their eyes. I simply strived for my life back - a somewhat normal routine and found that others were also benefiting from my sharing. Thus devastation turned into inspiration and so perseverance and staying on purpose became my mission. This is who I am and what I stand for, especially for those without a voice or maybe have lost their voice. Realization of your power through part of your personal journey is a force that is unshakable by just about anything. I know I have the God-given ability to inspire people and influence positive life results. My family jokes with me that I am not smart enough to quit. I respond with I’m smart enough to die for my ‘Why.’ Powerful beyond measure and stronger than any container society tries to fit me to, yet I find myself fitting my own reflection, finally… the true reflection. One that I do a double take at now and then but I know she is real. I have been to the bottom and am climbing to the top. Have the courage to work through your challenges, know that the pain of being outside your comfort-zone is short lived, and at all costs do not give up. Step up to your personal best or be left behind. The right people are around you but they are quiet, listening, and steadfast waiting for you to want it. There are no problems in life there are only challenges and they do not define your abilities unless you allow it. This is your opportunity, yes, YOU, reading this now. Reach out via email or message on Facebook and together we will take the next step toward this self-discovery and empowering step.
