Alchemic Cassils 10 February – 14 April Ground Floor Gallery Alchemic is the Australian debut of Los Angeles based performance artist, bodybuilder and transgender icon Cassils. Working across a range of media, Cassils has achieved international recognition for their rigorous engagement with the body as a form of social sculpture. Cassils’ research and representation provoke the viewer’s gaze while challenging dominant narratives. Combining athletic strength with theatrical drama, they explore ideas of representation, struggle and survival. Art history, mythology and popular symbols are shaken, as are the positions of viewers and our relationships to violence. Curated by Anne Loxley and Eugenio Viola. Presented in association with Perth Festival.

Lower Power Marco Fusinato 10 February – 21 April First Floor Gallery Marco Fusinato is a Melbourne-based artist and musician whose work has taken the form of installation, photographic reproduction, drawing, sculpture, performance and recording. Lower Power presents two new monumental prints from the artist’s Infinitives series (2009-ongoing). This series shows images removed from their original context and enlarged to historical painting scale. In each of these images, a person is portrayed in the decisive moment of a riot, brandishing a rock before throwing it at someone or something. Fusinato produced The Infinitive 6 and The Infinitive 7 (both 2019) expressly for this solo exhibition, his first in Western Australia. Curated by Eugenio Viola. Presented in association with Perth Festival.
