An exhibition that marks the 20th anniversary of the Charter of Mutual Friendship between the cities of Perth and Taipei, Unfolding Acts brings together artists whose practices examine the social, cultural and historical fabric of these two cities, while exploring shared experiences of colonisation, hidden economic systems and enduring natural landscapes.

Untitled (Uura) Curtis Taylor

Perth based Martu artist Curtis Taylor presents Untitled (Uura), a solo exhibition that brings together multiple streams of his practice including sculpture, installation and film.

Selected Screen Works + Q&A Wednesday 4 December, 6pm PICA Performance Space $10 Standard | $5 Concession

Through these forms, Taylor asserts narratives of cultural and personal identity, creating immersive spaces occupied by language and ritual that explore the edges of life and death.

Curtis will be screening selected screen works from his library, followed by a Q&A session with fellow collaborator Nathan Mewett.

Come on a contemplative journey through the streets, suburbs and open spaces of Taipei and Perth. Devised by an extraordinary interdisciplinary team, each performance of 歸屬 Gui Shu (Belong) fuses dance, music, sound and video projections live on stage.

The result of a 4-year intercultural exchange, this moving new work by Steamworks Arts asks how our understanding of self and home are shaped by our experiences with others.
