��Touch A Truck

Does your child have a love for trucks and large vehicles? Kids of all ages will love to climb, run around, sit in, and honk horns of many types of trucks and vehicles. A special no horns time is scheduled from 12 pm to 1 pm for sensory sensitive children. Come explore a fire engine, dump trucks, command center, bucket truck, striper truck, tractor, military vehicles, school buses and so many more.

14 ��Chase the Rainbow 5K

Let's get COLORFUL! Before the race starts, we'll get ready with a group color throw in the central meadow. Colored powder, bubble and water stations will be placed along the course. Take a photo at the photobooth, play lawn games, and more. Each participant will receive a keepsake medal!

Scavenger Hunt

It's the end of summer and our furry friends have been spotted lounging all over Cross Park and the Naches Trail Preserve. Come and see if you can find them all! Collect a scavenger hunt form from the Frederickson Community Center Monday through Friday, 9 am to 4 pm, then explore the park and complete your form. Return it to the community center during regular business hours, and we'll reward you with a prize. Please note: dogs are NOT permitted at Naches Trail Preserve.

��Fall Wedding Showcase

Join us for our Fall Wedding Showcase at the Environmental Services Building (The ESB) in University Place. This is the perfect opportunity to preview our amazing venue overlooking Puget Sound. Experience the latest in entertainment, preferred catering, photography, and connect with local vendors to plan your special day. Guests 21 years of age and older with ID will receive a beverage sample upon entry courtesy of our beverage partner and Showcase vendor, KemperSports.

Run for your lives at the Zombie Run 5K! Put on your best spooky gear and get ready to be chased by zombies along the trail! 21-31 ��Trail of Tricks

Scavenger Hunt

Halloween creatures have taken over the Grandview Trail at Chambers Creek Regional Park! Starting at the playground, go along the trail in search for creepy and eerie creatures. Find all of them, fill out your scavenger hunt card (available for download on our website), and turn it in to get a themed goody bag! Get into the spooky season with the Halloween themed jokes throughout the trail, and find those creepy creatures!

Turn your scavenger hunt card into the front desk at the ESB Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4 pm to receive a prize. The last day to claim your prize is Friday, November 1.

Experience Sprinker’s ice rink transformed into a winter wonderland with over 35,000 lights, animated displays, cascading lights on ice, and falling snow with a giant lighted tree in the center of the rink. Open to all ages, ICE Lights is the perfect festive activity to celebrate the holiday season!

��Santa Paws

Santa Paws is Coming to Town! Dress your furry friend in their best holiday outfit and come to the Environmental Service Building - Ceremony Lawn to get their picture taken with Santa Claus (photos purchased separately). Treats and refreshments will be available for both dogs and their owners, as well as additional holiday themed activities and vendors to enjoy.

13 ��Puzzle Palooza Competition

Create a team of 2-4 people and race against time, and other teams, to complete your jigsaw puzzle the fastest. The winning team wins a prize! Additional prizes will be awarded for individuals/teams dressed for the theme. Bring a gently used puzzle for the puzzle swap area. Each group who brings a puzzle to swap will have the chance to take home a new-tothem puzzle at the end of the event. Please be sure that all of the puzzle pieces are accounted for and that it is stored in its original package/box.

14 ��Reindeer Run 5K

It's time to get into the holiday spirit! Join us in your finest ugly holiday sweaters, reindeer themed gear, and festive attire to celebrate the season! Enjoy hot cocoa, coffee, holiday music, and a festive photobooth. Each participant will receive a keepsake medal and reindeer antlers.

21 ��Winter Solstice Celebration

Shop local, handmade, artesian crafts at the Night Market in our warm and cozy Lodge and stroll along our candle-lit Luminary Trail through the park. Entry into Lodge and outdoor shopping is free. Entrance to the Luminary Walk is $3/person. Luminary Walk with activity package is $8/ person. Supplies are limited, activity packages may not be available for purchase onsite.

12/23-1/3 Candy Cane Hunt

Last winter we planted candy cane seeds all over Cross Park & the Naches Trail. Now we have candy canes popping up all over the place, and we need your help finding them! Collect a scavenger hunt form from the Frederickson Community Center Monday through Friday, 9 am to 4 pm, then explore the park and complete your form. Return it to the community center during regular business hours, and we'll reward you with a tasty candy cane treat. Limit of one candy cane goody bag per person.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

• Pre-registration is required for all classes unless otherwise stated.

• All fees are due at the time of registration.

• No “on-site” registration will be taken by instructors.

• All classes/programs have a minimum and maximum enrollment.

• Registration is required prior to posted dealines to ensure class minimums are met.

• Third party ticket/registrations are not endorsed or accepted.

• We will make every attempt to increase maximum enrollment and/ or add additional program offerings when there is a waiting list.

• There is a $25 service fee for all returned checks.

FULL OR CANCELLED CLASSES: Classes may fill quickly or classes may be cancelled due to low enrollment. If you have registered for a class that must be cancelled you will be contacted and entitled to a full refund. Please feel free to contact Pierce County Parks Administration Office or Sprinker Recreation Center the day before your class starts to make sure the class has not been cancelled.

PAYMENT: Pre-payment is required at the time all activitiy registrations or reservations are made. We accept VISA, MasterCard, cash and checks payable to Pierce County Parks. Please Note: a $25 NSF fee will be added on returned checks.

ACCOMMODATIONS: To request an accommodation, please call 253-798-4177.

MEDICAL INSURANCE: All participants should have their own medical insurance to cover any injuries sustained while participating in any Pierce County Parks activity. Pierce County will not be financially responsible for any medical expenses.

PHOTO/VIDEO NOTICE: Pierce County Parks staff may video record or take photos of participants in programs and special events, or people in or on park properties.Those recordings and photos may be used for promotional purposes in print, on television, on our website or social media platforms.

INCLEMENT WEATHER: In the event of severe weather conditions it is the participant’s responsibility to contact the center regarding the status of classes, meetings or activities.

FAIR PLAY IN COMMUNITY SPORTS: Pierce County specifically prohibits discrimination against any person on the basis of gender in the operation, conduct or administration of its community athletics programs for youth and adults.

GENERAL REFUND POLICY:

A request for a full refund will be granted only if the request is presented before the first class begins. After classes have started, your refund request will be issued on a prorated basis, however no refunds will be issued after the start of the 3rd class. Refund requests must be presented 24 hours prior to one-day seminar/workshops. We regret that refunds cannot be made for programs, classes, clinics or trips consisting of 4 or less sessions unless approved by the Supervisor. Please call for specific program refund policies.

Registering for any of our programs implies you have read, understood and agree to the following:

For and in consideration of permission to participate in the recreation activity, I the undersigned participant (if over age 18) or parent or guardian (if participant is under 18) completely release and agree to indemnify and hold Pierce County and its employees, its hired or contracted instructors and any other person, volunteers or organizations affiliated with Pierce County in connection with this recreation activity harmless from and against any and all liability for any injury or damage from negligence or otherwise which may be suffered by the participant arising out of or in any way connected with this recreation activity. I realize that recreation activities have an inherent risk of physical injury. If the participant has any physical ailments or conditions which might affect his/her health by participating in the activity, I have consulted a physician or other medical authority and received permission to participate. I understand that photographs/videos taken of Parks and Recreation Programs may be used by the Department of Parks and Recreation for promoting our programs, classes, events, in print, tv, or on the website.

Skyhawks® Baseball

Skyhawks® baseball takes the rich history of the game from Cooperstown to your town. Our progressional curriculum teaches the fundamentals of fielding, catching, throwing, hitting and base running in a fun, positive environment by local Skyhawks® staff. All athletes regardless of skill level will learn new baseball skills along with vital life lessons such as respect, teamwork and responsibility. All participants will come away with new friends, new skills and love for the game.

Skyhawks® Soccertots

SoccerTots is our flagship program! Playable on almost any surface, these soccer-themed motor skill classes are very easy for youngsters to get into. Younger age groups focus on developing motor skills and self-confidence; older classes focus more on developing core soccer skills and personal focus, and introduce an element of light competition. Instructor-to-student ratio is kept small to maximize individual development, and above all else we promote fun, fun, fun!

Skyhawks® Soccer

Skyhawks® was founded as a soccer club in 1979. Thirty years later we are still the number one choice for parents looking to refine their child's fundamentals of the world's most popular sport. Using our progressional curriculum, our sport-specific staff will ensure your young athlete will gain the technical skills & sport knowledge required for their next step into soccer. This class focuses on dribbling, passing, shooting, and ball control. Skyhawks® 1stDownTots Class Flag Football

1stDownTots is a development program that uses a variety of fun games to engage kids while teaching the sport of football and developing fundamental skills. The goal is to build fitness, muscle coordination, football fundamentals and create a love of the game. We do not do any tackling or blocking at this level.

Youth Cross Country

Join us for a series of outdoor cross country running led by experienced coach and former University of Washington All-American, Anita Campbell. The program incorporates age-appropriate running workouts and games to help improve fitness, have fun, and prepare runners for a series of 3 time trial races on the last 3 Wednesday evenings to put their hard work to the test. Our cross-country program is open to runners of all ability levels and is a great opportunity to learn more about the sport while enjoying one of the best running locations in Washington.

Bricks 4 Kidz® Junior Robotics

Using software while working on tablets, kids will be able to program the model builds they craft using Bricks 4 Kidz® model plans and LEGO® technology to spin, walk, tumble, play music, and more. Bricks 4 Kidz® robotics bridges the physical world, represented by the models and the virtual world of computers and programming software, providing a hands-on learning experience that actively involves young students in their own learning process. Middle Eastern Belly Dance is a low-impact form of dance appropriate for all body types and backgrounds. Learn history, basic movements, isolation techniques, and more. No dance experience necessary. Tae Kwon Do (Karate)

Build self-discipline, agility, balance, strength, and speed. Students are built from the inside out and must face strict standards for advancement including physical, mental and written tests. Sprinker Recreation Center is your community recreation headquarters. Nowhere in Pierce County will you find more family activities than right here on your back doorstep. We offer indoor and outdoor recreational facilities for all ages and abilities.

Our facility is equipped with an NHL regulation ice surface, 4 indoor and 6 outdoor tennis courts, 5 racquetball courts, one of the largest outdoor skateboarding parks in Western Washington, 8 softball diamonds, outdoor basketball courts, multiple meeting rooms, walking trails, and SPIRE ROCK the mountain climbers rock. First-rate classes, programs, and community events are what make Sprinker Recreation Center the place to play.

Program Information

Sprinker’s Learn to Skate Program is for all ages 4 to adult who want to skate for fun or are interested in becoming a serious figure skater or hockey player in a group class setting. Our program follows the Ice Sports Industry’s (ISI) Learn To Skate curriculum which offers classes that are designed for the recreational to advanced skater; with teaching, testing, and award ribbon/patches available for different levels of achievement in basic skills and freestyle.

Levels of instruction include:PreSkate 1, 2, 3 & 4, Beginning 1 & 2, PreAlpha, Alpha 1 & 2, Beta 1 & 2, Gamma 1 & 2, Delta 1 & 2, Beginning Freestyle, Freestyle 1, 2, & 3, Beginning Freestyle 4. Check out what you will learn at: �� CLICK FOR LINK TO SKILLS

All New Skaters should register for PreSkate 1 Ages: 4-6, Beginning 1 Ages: 7 +. Skaters are evaluated during the first 2 weeks and placed in the appropriate class level. At the end of the session, skaters will be tested and may earn a ribbon/patch before advancing to the next level.

Each skater will receive on the day of lesson

• 30 minutes of instruction

• Rental Figure or Hockey Skates

• Practice time on the public session following the lesson

• Skill assessment on the last day of class which will include a Ribbon or ISI Patch recognizing the skaters achievement

• Two complimentary admissions to any regular price public skating session.

Skating Attire

Beginning skaters are strongly encouraged to wear an All-Sport safety helmet or Crash head band. All Skaters should wear gloves, long pants, warm layered clothing, appropriate socks (not too thick). Freestyle level skaters should wear skating attire such as yoga pants, joggers, leggings. Long hair should be pulled back away from the face and are encouraged to have their own figure skates.

ADVANCED SKATERS

Freestyle Sessions

Freestyle sessions are practice sessions reserved for figure skaters of all ages and abilities who are taking private lessons. All skaters must be registered as an ISI Learn To Skate member and/or a member of U.S. Figure Skating. To reserve freestyle session time book online.

Private Lessons

Some students find that individual instruction is the best way to fine-tune their skating skills. Fees are paid directly to the instructor and do not include ice time or skate rental.

Lakewood Winter Club

The club’s mission is to provide opportunities for skaters to develop and achieve individual potential through a total quality competitive skating program. The Club’s Professional Staff coach learn-to-skate through U.S. Figure Skating levels in group or private lessons.
