WHY CO-WIN 175? << TM Chhaya Ghadage, PM2 Newsletter Chair, PTMC
It is indeed a great honour to be the Newsletter Chair for the 7th Edition of PTMC Newsletter ’Gist’. It comprises of poems, club members’ articles , interviews of achievers and the activities from January to May of the year 2020. The addresses from the Area Director, Division Director and Club President have highlighted our PTMC club activities, friendly atmosphere, achievements and growth map of the entire club. We present our Newsletter- Gist, and the theme for this edition is 'Co–Win 175' You must be wondering- is it related to Corona virus? Yes! you are right. This is our 175th milestone meeting and we all are in lockdown. Despite of this, we are keeping ourselves safe at home and attending our club meetings. We are also getting an opportunity to attend other clubs' meetings. This indeed is a boon, as we don’t get time for these in our regular life schedule. It won’t be wrong to say that it is enhancing our knowledge and fostering our growth as a public speaker. So it could be said as -
'Winning over COVID-19 with co-operation and co-working'. A big THANK-YOU to all the ones who contributed to this edition by means of their wonderful and inspiring articles, interviews and growth stories, without which there couldn’t have been this newsletter issue. Last but not the least I would like to thank President Krishnaprasad, TM Neha and all the newsletter team members for their constant support throughout the creation of this edition.

Variety of meetings and unique creative ideas << TM Harshad Khiera DIVISION DiRector,CC, ALB,VC3
175th milestone meeting itself says a lot about club's magnitude and zeal with which PTMC is growing. I am associated to this club even before any district role and I always find energy at different level. The diversity of the members in PTMC makes it unique in its own way and I always observe the warm welcome each guest and member gets, when they visit the club. Club always comes up with variety of meetings and unique creative ideas from members. PR of club is on next level and I personally like KBC activity of club. The Club has given many leaders in the past and the members keep supporting district events and clubs within the Pune city. I see lots of talent in the club with new members who joined because of the continuous support from the existing members. I congratulate PTMC on the 175th milestone meeting and I would say from my personal experience that this is one of the meeting I never want to miss. Congratulations and looking forward to see many more milestone meetings.

FROM THE AREA DIRECTOR'S DESK
Excel in all our endeavours Dear Members
<< DTM Sandesh Banger Area C5 Director
As an Area Director, I'm delighted to pen down my thoughts on the progress of Pimpri Toastmasters Club (PTMC). First and foremost, let me congratulate you for releasing another Club Newsletter without fail – it’s a clear sign of Excellence – to keep going without fail. I am also elated to see PTMC going strong as ever and achieving another milestone - 175 meetings. It’s an amazing feat and calls for celebration. Another celebration moment is around the corner - when your President's Distinguished Club (another feather in the cap) will become a Diamond Club again. Having seen your club reaching newer heights each day, I’m quite happy. But a Club truly succeeds when it empowers its members well. In my association with your club in last 1 year, I have witnessed the growth of each member and have also seen the enormous efforts being put in by each one. That’s the true sign of achievement. And that makes me content. While I would like to thank each member and leader of the club for this growth, I would like to bring on record the efforts of current Club President Krishnaprasad, Club VPE Vitthal, and all ex-com members as they were the charioteer for past 6 months and they ensured the chariot is well on its path to excellence. PTMC has always stood as a strong community club in the Pune Toastmaters fraternity. And that has happened because of the way this club has been nurtured with utmost care and warmth that its each member shares. I’ve always loved attending your club meetings because it feels home. In last 2 months of hardships, the world has changed. But in these difficult times our true grit is tested. And by continuing your club meetings with extreme passion and determination, you have shown that the club and its members stand together in its fight with Covid. Let’s continue to believe in our journeys and let’s continue to excel in all our endeavours. I wish you all great success in the year ahead.

FROM THE PRESIDENT'S DESK
Going gets tough, the tough gets going!! Hi,
<< TM Krishnaprasad Paralikar President Jan-June 2020
I congratulate Pimpri Toastmasters club along with its members for reaching a milestone of 175th meeting. Hearty congratulations! For the first time in the history of this club, a milestone meeting isn’t happening in person. There is no decoration, no lighting, no food items….the meeting is virtual! But I see similar energy, similar zeal today as it would have been there in any milestone meeting. Congratulations, again!
At this point, the situation outside is not very conducive at all. People are restricted to their homes. Not much movement is happening outside. Survival has now become the prime objective. People are bit scared too. But in all this, Toastmasters meetings are happening dot on time, with near perfect and complete agenda. The district team has managed to conduct pending club, area and now division contests online with great finesse and perfection. Kudos to whole Toastmasters fraternity! It is the reflection of the journey of the efforts put in by all current and past members, current and past executive committees and supporting toastmasters district officers. Thank you, everyone! Change is the only constant in the life, and these tough days will go away soon! At this juncture, I wish all PTMC members to have a healthier and enjoyable future. I urge all to drink a lot of water, eat healthy food, exercise enough and prepare & deliver excellent speeches & evaluations along with meeting roles. Train your mind to look at positive things more! Remember, when going gets tough, the tough gets going! Let’s all share, care and help each other. Also, learn from each other. Once again, hearty congrats to PTMC for the excellent journey so far. Let’s enjoy the journey of the future now! Be successful, always.

<< TM Chandrasekhar Pasupuleti , DL
MILKHA SINGHS' OF PTMC
>> TM Dnyaneshwar Thakare, MS, PM-2
Both of you have completed your paths in Toastmasters within a short span of time. Could you please share your journey?
TM Chandrasekhar : First time when I entered in a Toastmasters meeting, a lady welcomed me with a smile. The meeting was full of energy. I was amazed by each and every delivered speech. Then came the table topics (an impromptu session), table topic master asked - Any guest would like to attempt for table table? I tried to raise my hand but out of fear couldn’t. In the very next meeting I could see improvement in myself as I was able to participate in table topics session. Looking at the fantastic speeches on impromptu topics given by members, I immediately decided to become member here. I gave my first speech and was surprised to get a standing ovation. Yes, Toastmasters is a platform where you can tell about yourself and people will appreciate it with a standing ovation. And then there was no turning back and started delivering speeches in every meeting. I got elected for VP- Public Relations role which contributed significantly in improving creativity in posters making and while interacting with people. Subsequently I got elected as a President, it is one of the roles which gives you an opportunity to serve members directly. It significantly improved my leadership skills. Being an ex-president, I support and guide members for the club activities.
8
In Toastmasters, I met many inspiring mentors who helped and guided me to develop my public speaking skills. Mentors like TM Amruta, TM Aashirwad, TM Jitender Balani, TM Vijendra, TM Pramod, TM Krishnaprasad are an inspiration to me. Toastmasters has helped me to become a better communicator, a better leader and a better person. TM Dnyaneshwar : I have joined Pimpri Toastmasters Club in April 2018. The purpose was to improve my communication skills, leadership skills & public speaking skills. I knew that those skills are an essential tools to grow in the corporate sector. So I joined Toastmasters. I gave my hundred percentage to learn & grow in toastmasters. My burning desire motivated me to participate more & to give more speeches in toastmasters hence I completed my first path in very short period of time. continued...
Continued...... Can you tell us the reason behind choosing a respective path and also about your upcoming path? TM Chandrasekhar : Pathways is a revolutionary new education program in a Toastmasters. My goal was to develop leadership skills. So I chose dynamic leadership path. This path helped building my skills as a strategic leader. In this path, projects are more focused on understanding leadership & communication style, effect of conflict on a group and the skills needed to direct and defuse a conflict. It also emphasises on development of strategies to facilitate change in an organization or a group, interpersonal communication and public speaking. This path culminates in applying my leadership skills. My second path will be Innovative Planning. TM Dnyaneshwar : I got very good guidance from TM Vijendra, he took us through all the paths & he explained each path in details. Then I decided to go with 'Motivation Strategy' path. I knew that this path will motivate me to participate more and more. It builds motivational leadership and communication skills. After completing first path I chose 'Presentation Mastery path', this path will help me to write a persuasive speech, inspire me to deliver an engaging story, handle difficult audience members and eventually to become a better speaker. I was looking for all these qualities.
9
How Pathways has benefited you? TM Chandrasekhar : Dynamic leadership path was of great help to improve my professional and personal life, I could understand my communicating style. Also I have learned how to adapt different communication style based on the various situations. I have improved leadership skills which gave me a confidence to lead in any situation. TM Dnyaneshwar : Toastmasters pathways provides an opportunities to learn and grow, I have experience these pathway projects are based on extensive research and member surveys. Pathway learning experiences has helped me to grow both personally as well as professionally. How PTMC members have contributed in your achievements? TM Chandrasekhar : Firstly I would like to thank my mentor TM Amruta for being a wonderful mentor as she guided and motivated me to take up roles in each and every meeting. PTMC members taught me as how to effectively lead a small team, to deal with different personality with flexibility and their work style. Further, I learned to not be afraid to lead or to take charge. Feedback from PTMC members has helped me to the reach next level. TM Dnyaneshwar: Our leaders have motivated me a lot specially for delivering my first speech in Toastmasters. Every club member has helped me to review my speech each and every time from their frequent motivating and constructive feedback. I specially wanted to thank TM Vijendra, TM Hawagi, TM Chandra & TM Krishnaprasad for their constant support in each and every mode. continued...
Continued...... How do you manage to get good topic for a speech. How do you sketch out points for a speech? TM Chandrasekhar : First I try to understand the objective of the speech and then co-relate it with my personal life, professional life or society. Then I make sure that it is a motivating and an informative speech. In addition to it, I do consider few points, like what does the audience need? understand listeners' expectations? And how can I create humour? How could I engage the audience and so on.... TM Dnyaneshwar : I usually refer some very good books like “Wings of fire”, “You can win”, “Power of positive thinking & so on… These books have really helped me to get speech topics & speech content as per the speech objectives. I never ran short of topics.:) Has the lockdown Toastmasters learning?
affected
your
TM Chandrasekhar : Yes,it has affected to an extent from the learning perspective. I do believe every crisis is an opportunity to learn, before lockdown I could attend single club meeting, but now during lockdown I could attend 2 to 3 club-meetings in a week, just because they are conducted online. Almost all clubs have started conducting online meetings. It is a great way to keep people connected. TM Dnyaneshwar : Lockdown has not affected the Toastmasters learning, in fact it has increased the learnings.
Who is your inspiration/role model in public speaking & why? TM Chandrasekhar: All the Toastmasters are an inspiration to me, because every Toastmaster has a unique skill or talent for a different window. TM Dnyaneshwar : TM Vijendra and TM Aashirwad are my role models in public speaking. Both are very good public speakers & both are very innovative leaders. What advice would you like to give to your fellow Toastmasters? TM Chandrasekhar : Always remember the purpose of joining the Toastmasters club. Attend club meetings regularly, try getting as many feedback from the members. Participate in ISC, humorous speech contest, evaluation and table topics contest which will help you in next level learning. TM Dnyaneshwar : I would like to say that, if you want to learn and grow in Toastmasters then just give your hundred percentage. Your learning is always depended on how much efforts you are putting in. So put more efforts and become a great communicator and great leader.
Never ran out of topics

Interview with the Area C5 Table Topic Contest winner << TM Krishnaprasad Paralikar , CC, CL Recently you have won the Table Topics Contest of Area C5 and first IPL contest. What do these achievements mean to you? Winning the area contest for Table topics was very special. But being the part of Topic Tweeters team, which won the first District IPL (Impromptu Premier League), was very interesting. IPL came up from nowhere. I was preparing for Area contests (ISC and TT) and suddenly I got in IPL as well. Both events happened within a week’s time. I really enjoyed all that! Impromptu speaking has always fascinated me. That one activity includes analysing, constructing and delivering your speech in one go. So, showing your skills there and getting recognized was always satisfying. Could you explain the techniques that you have used to prepare for your Table Topic Speeches? People might think that there is nothing to prepare for table topics, as a topic is given to you right at that moment. But that is not true. Preparation is the key to table topics as well. You will have to be able to think of many situations which you can bring in your speech. You must be aware of few classic quotes which you can use. You can polish your language as well. You need to keep recalling various stories and incidents from current as well as past events. That means you need to read well and a lot. In all, you need to practice different table topics before the actual contest. I did spend few hours practicing with my IPL team, which helped me in Area contest as well.
11
Many people feel the nervousness for giving impromptu speech. How did you manage that obstacle? Yes, I agree. Many people feel the nervousness while coming to stage for any speech including table topic speech. In fact, I feel bit nervous sometimes even now. And it’s pretty natural to feel that way. I guess, the main reason behind this is the expectations speaker has from self as well as what he/she thinks about audience. Every time if you expect a great speech to come out of you and every time you think people will laugh at you, then that is not going to happen at all. So, it is good to keep yourself relaxed. Do not think about anything except the topic you have. If you move away from the expectations of self and audience, I am sure you will always perform better in impromptu speeches. I have experienced it! Can you give some tips for fellow toastmasters to master the skills to be a great table topic speaker? I suggest, follow the tips and techniques which I have mentioned in the earlier 2 answers. Most of those tips will help you to perform well. In addition to that, please note that only practice makes you better. So, find out opportunities to speak at all times. Attend various meetings. Go for table topics in those meetings. Even if you don’t always get to speak every time, take every topic you hear into your stride and revise it in your mind. Talk to yourself about what you would have spoken on that topic at that time. So, in summary, there are 2 rules – 1. Practice makes the man perfect! 2. Be a good listener first!
continued...
Continued...... How does the preparation of Table Topics Contest help you in your life? Hmmm … interesting question! In fact, believe me, so far, I have used my life experiences in my table topic speeches. And now the question is “How table topic experiences will help in life?”. Oh, yes, it helps! In your professional as well as personal life, it will surely help. In situations, where you need to speak impromptu, take it like a table topic. In front of client, team members, at home in front of spouse, anything and everything may wrong at any time. Don’t worry, be happy! Your table topic skills are there to help you out. Use those! I have done it sometimes, knowingly or un-knowingly. Do you think that PTMC has its contribution in your success? Oh, yes. PTMC has had a big role to play in my rise as a speaker. In this club, I have taken many opportunities to speak. Every time I have done that, I am sure that I have improved my speaking skills. Now that I am in President role, I get a chance to speak in every meeting. I enjoy that. For someone like me, who likes to speak, there is no better feeling like speaking in front of real or virtual crowd. I thank PTMC for all the opportunities presented to me.
12
What are your future goals in Toastmasters? I have just completed 28 months in my Toastmasters journey so far. I am very happy about it at this moment. I have achieved few educational titles, have won contests at different levels, I am playing a ex-com role at present. Things are going well. Now, at least for next 6 months, after I finish my ex-com role, I wish to continue as a member in Toastmasters club. I have remained away from active speaking in speaker role for some time now. I want to go back to it. I want to enjoy that part of Toastmasters again. I also wish to spend time in guiding new Toastmasters in their journeys. I want to feel like a free bird for some time.
May we have your attention please? TM Pramod, TM Jayesh and TM Vijendra started a fundraising campaign for Daily-wagers and street vendors recently. Our newsletter team brings you the in and out of this campaign. Tell us about your campaign. TM Pramod: Our campaign is for daily wagers and street vendors who have no means of earning specially due to COVID-19 lockdown. This campaign is supported by Bhumi Foundation, which is one of India’s largest independent and youth volunteer non-profit organisations. Below is the link of our campaign: https://bit.ly/May-we-have-your-attention-please How did you get the idea? TM Vijendra: Well, all three of us were enjoying our quarantine days. Work-from-home, cooking and online Toastmasters’ meetings were our daily routine. There were a lot of online quarantine challenges on social media Dalgona coffee, Saari challenge, Noshave challenge etc. and we thought of taking one for ourselves- we shaved our heads together. And you know Pramod! He wanted to tell about this to all his fans on Facebook. We had taken before and after pics. We posted on Facebook. And it got tremendous response from friends and family members. We were so overwhelmed. Someone commented on the post- “Three monks, who sold their hair!”.
13
Then the idea struck in mind. Now we are getting so much attention. Instead, it should be the daily wagers who should get this attention in such crisis. That’s how we started the campaign with the help of Bhumi Foundation. How much you were able to raise? TM Jayesh: So far we have raised INR 72k+ from around 60 donors. We had donors from our family members, friends from India and around the globe. Thanks to Toastmasters networking… majority of our donors are from Toastmasters fraternity. How do you ensure, the fund goes to the right people? TM Jayesh: Bhumi volunteers have identified street vendors by two means – (a) Bhumi’s committed volunteers have put together street vendors they and their network know of personally and; (b) working closely with government bodies wherever possible to get verified list of street vendors. Bhumi has a separate team of volunteers, who cross-verify the details. The funds raised through Bhumi, will be directly handed over to the families affected through bank transfers. If you also know anyone daily wager in your society, you can fill their details at below link. Bhumi volunteers will get in touch with them. https://www.bhumi.ngo/covid-profile/

TM Vijendra Jain, IP-1 , TM Jayesh Pindoriya,DL-2 and TM Pramod Kiwande, CC, ALB, ms-2 How has been your experience? TM Pramod: It is really a great feeling to be a part of such a wonderful campaign. There are Corona Warriors: doctors, police, government administration, cleaning staff, grocery shopkeepers, delivery service providers, maintenance team, who are fighting from the front and shielding us from the impact of COVID-19. We truly believe that this is the least we could do from our side. Initially we thought how are we going to achieve our target? But once we started publicizing it, we started getting response. TM Vijendra: There are people who need help. There are people who want to help. Someone just needs to be the link between the two. We are fortunate that we were able to be that link. TM Jayesh: But this doesn’t stop here. We need more such links. If you want to be that link... start your campaign now!

Why am I part of Toastmasters till now? << TM Pramod Kiwande, CC, ALB, MS-2 It all started on 15th Sept 2015 when HARMAN Toastmasters Club had their Humorous Speech Contest. I was excited to understand what this Humorous Speech is about. Back then I did not know what are Humorous Speeches. I went to the conference room and one after the other members were making others laugh with their speeches. I thought why do they call it humorous instead of stand-up comedy. I had various questions in mind like a guest attending the meeting for the first time. I had made my mind that I want to deliver speeches where people will laugh, I want to speak like those members and I decided to join at that moment. Officially I joined as the member of the club on 1st Oct 2015 and then onwards l must say that my life was a roller coaster ride. I am still enjoying this journey which started back then..you would be thinking why till now? Let me tell you why Firstly the Friends... that I have got in Toastmasters. Toastmasters has given me friends for a lifetime, and some are family members as well. I wonder what would have happened if I had not joined Toastmasters back then. I have enjoyed each and every district conference right from Pune to Goa to Mumbai to Indore to Hyderabad to Pune and I could enjoy it just because of the people who have accompanied me . If you ever get a chance in your life to visit any district conference, please do visit it. You can thank me later after attending it.:) Second is the Communication...The day I joined Toastmasters, I did not know what mistakes I was making while speaking in terms of grammar, body language and content. But today I am aware about the mistakes which I make, from a public speaking perspective. Major improvement in me was seen while giving job interviews. I was confident enough, could communicate and convey my thoughts clearly during the job interviews. And the third reason is Servant Leadership‌. I did not know what does this mean and what impact it could have in my life earlier. But today I know it very well. How it had impacted my life and in how in turn it has impacted others lives too. Leadership is where you cannot order people what has to be done but how we can achieve it together in common interest, I started celebrating other’s victories, helping others to improve and even appreciated them for making an effort and to those who are making a difference. In life, if I have made one good decision to be a Toastmaster and to improve myself as a human being from all perspectives of life and going forward also I shall be part of Toastmasters for the above 3 reasons.

Lockdown Curse or boon ? << TM Vitthal Jamale, PM 3 and 4 Hunter once lost his way in deep jungle while chasing a deer. He used all his navigation skills; he could not find any way to come out of the jungle. He was without any food to eat consecutively for 3 days. He lost all hopes, he thought he will die out of hunger. And that's exactlywhen, an apple tree caught his sight. He was so happy. He collected 10 to 20 apples to feed himself. As he ate the first Apple, his joy knew no bounds and he just couldn't stop feeling grateful and blessed. He thanked life & God. He was very happy while eating 1st apple, but he was less grateful, while having second Apple and even lesser grateful when he ate 5th Apple. Somehow with each passing Apple, joy kept on reducing drastically. He just could not enjoy the 10th Apple. He started throwing apples which were not tasting good and started even complaining. He had already, taken for granted, the gift of having found an apple tree, in the middle of the forest after 3 days of hunger. This is called as 'law of diminishing gratitude', in simple words, taking things for granted or let's just call it as 10th Apple effect. 10th Apple represents our lack of appreciation for gifts in the life. The hunter represents all of us and the Apple represents the gifts that life gives us. 10th Apple is as sweet as the first apple. If the 10th Apple fails to give you as much pleasure as the first one, there is nothing wrong with the apple, but with the person enjoying the fruit. Reason behind sharing this story is, we were having 10th Apple effect in our life for some time. If we get abundance of everything, then we started complaining. We complain about people, job, government, traffic, food, weather and everything. During this lockdown, I am sure, most of people’s attitude towards has life changed, people has started appreciating for lot of things which were taken for granted. We have started thinking it's nice to talk to a human being. I am so glad that I got vegetables today. We thank god to keep us healthy and safe. We never had this kind of thoughts 4 weeks ago. The present situation is shaking and showing us that we are dependent on something bigger than what we think. Right now all of us have two choices - to be grateful or to be stressful and it's a choice. 73 year old man in Italy was in hospital and after one day he recovered from the illness. He was told to pay for using the ventilator for a day. The old man started crying. Doctor advised him not to cry over bill. They informed him that they will manage.
17
continued...
Continued...... But what the old man said, made all the doctors cry. He relied, I am not crying because of the money I have to pay. I can pay all the money. I am crying because I have been breathing God's air for last 73 years and have never paid for it and now its takes 5000 Euros to use the ventilator in hospital for one day. Do you know how much I owe to God? I haven't thanked God for that before.
When we breathe air without any pain, no one takes air seriously. Only when we enter the hospital we realise that even breathing oxygen with ventilator costs money. Gratitude is a strong powerful emotion. Law of universe is, when we are grateful for the things we have in life, we will have more things to be grateful for. Never let the 10th Apple effect make us take the gifts in life for granted. Never let our gratitude for the life fade away. Stay happy, stay healthy. Don’t forget to express gratitude towards life and everything in life. Many people were complaining about the restriction due to lockdown. Nature has its own way to correct and save itself from the imbalance that disturbs the ecology evolution due to human interventions. I look at it as a boon for all of us, perhaps it's nature’s way to teach us that with such events the entire world has learnt to be close to their families and be disciplined on a single call. The air quality has improved tremendously all over the world as minimum vehicle movements are seen. People have learnt to follow good hygienic practices and learnt the importance of social distancing. All politically powerful leaders have forgotten their differences and are concentrating on controlling their own country from this silent killer that has creeped slowly and silently in human fraternity. Leaders have kept their differences away and all are on same platform. Many of us who were running behind money and were in rat-race, have learnt to take rest or stop at appropriate time to spend time with our families and to give time for our self. Does that not sounds like a boon to humanity instead of curse, yes indeed it is, although I do pay my earnest homage to all those who have lost their lives due to COVID-19, let their sacrifices be seen as a lesson for all those who are still alive and safe from this pandemic. To conclude, I see this outbreak as a boon to humanity, wherein we all have learnt to be patient, aligned, conclusive and above all we respect our nature with all earnest desire, learn from it towards being better human and care for all.

How to Always Keep Learning & Growing << TM Manoj M Jadhav, IP-2 One of the most important things we can do in our lives is to LEARN. Even we hated school or got anxiety each time when there was an exam, we all love to learn. It’s human nature to be curious. Just because school is over, doesn’t mean you know everything and can stop learning now. Quite the contrary: School just gave you some helpful information and the tools to continue pursuing knowledge for the rest of your life. That’s a tall order, and with a world of options and opportunities available, it may be hard to decide where to start. Let’s break it down. What to Learn What should you learn? Or rather, what do you want to learn? The answer is: anything you want! Too endless? Start with what interests you. What have you always wanted to know how to do, or simply know more about? Anything that sparks your interest is worth pursuing. You may want to play an instrument, speak another language, hone your artistic skills, become a master coder, improve your math, cook better meals, learn about animals in the Amazon rain forest and the list goes on. You may want to learn something to directly benefit your life. Perhaps your career would really benefit from improved public speaking, or an updated understanding of social media marketing. As I am a student so I have decided to overcome the fear of public speaking so I joined the Toastmasters club which has helped me a lot and to boost up my confidence. On the other hand, your pursuit of knowledge doesn’t need to help you meet an end goal. It could simply be because you have an interest in this subject or skill. Either way is fine, as long as you’re excited about pursuing this knowledge. How to Learn Now that you’ve determined what you want to learn, the next step is to figure out how to learn it. We all learn best in different ways, and depending on our lifestyle and goals. Certain methods may work better for you than others. Try out any of these and see where it takes youReading:- Depending on what you want to know, you can read any number of materials: Books, magazines, online articles, newspapers. Nonfiction may seem like the obvious choice, but there’s a lot you can glean from works of fiction too. Pro tip: You can listen to audio books too! Have a long commute each day? Continued...... Watch videos:- If you’re seeking a specific skill – like website coding, or making the perfect angel food cake – there are plenty of tutorials and training videos available on YouTube. I myself learned a lot from the Youtube like Python coding languages, new technology etc. There’s a lot you can learn from simply sitting back and watching a good video. Join a club or class:- you can also join a club or class. For example I have joined Toastmaster club, this club has helped me to overcome the fear of public speaking and I have also improved my communication skills. The feeling when you find something worthy is not something you realize immediately. Speaking strictly from my experience, I felt the value of Toastmasters with time. As you keep attending sessions, you will see the change in yourself, you will witness your growth in terms of self evaluation, understanding your speaking techniques and most importantly the urge to express yourself while communicating. Explore your options and learn in a more interactive way: Join a book club. Take cooking classes. Get guitar lessons. Sign up for karate classes. Attend yoga classes at your gym. These clubs and lessons will likely to be fun and you may also meet some new friends along the way. Explore your world! Whenever you’re able, visit new places. Traveling to different cities and countries introduces you to a whole world of possibility – literally. Get to know different cultures and ways of doing things. Visit museums and memorial parks. Talk to people, old and young. You can learn so much just by engaging with the world around you. Be open to new experiences and new knowledge, and be ready to look for it wherever you go. Never Stop Learning As you pursue a life of learning, remember to keep your curiosity alive. Choose topics and methods that interest you or matter to you, and be ready to learn – even with all the doubt and awkwardness that may come with it. As adults, we tend to be somewhat self-conscious when we learn. We don’t like to feel stupid and when we first start at something, we won’t be very good at it. All of us start at zero. This can leave us discouraged or embarrassed, but we should feel just the opposite. We should be proud of ourselves for pursuing a new skill. It’s a proof that we’re intelligent and curious. Toddlers and children are fearless about learning. Emulate them as you continue your adult education. You can learn something just enough to know about it. It may take only a few days or weeks before you’ve reached your knowledge goal. On the other extreme, you may want to commit to mastering a new skill – that will take you several years. And of course, you can land anywhere in between. It’s up to you to decide how far you want to pursue this subject or skill. You don’t have to become an expert if that’s not your goal. No matter how smart you think you are, there’s always more you can learn. Keep discovering new concepts that excite you. You’re never too old to learn, and you’re never too old to expand upon a subject you learned about many years ago. The world keeps moving forward, which means there’s always more to learn, even in those subjects you had once mastered.

Life is boring if you stop learning.
Keep it exciting, and always keep learning:)
Toastmasters club An unparalleled platform of public speaking << TM Pushpak Bisen, VC-1 Someone said that "Ignorance is a bliss", it can definitely be for some time, but you have to face reality one day. Speaking skills are even more valuable today, especially in this connected world, where open communication is even more than before. A person with high self-esteem can be more successful or could lead a better life than his/her counterparts. Knowing the existence of toastmasters’ club to me was a vital information in itself. People who are actually looking forward for improving their speaking skills or self-worth, do not know about TOASTMASTERS INTERNATIONAL. They search for professional institutes or personality development classes to come out of their fear and inhibition. One thing which separates Toastmasters club from other commercial institutions, is that it is fully “Self-initiative”. In my opinion, self–driven individuals can become more confident & better public speaker than a tutored student. An intriguing audience dwarfs a lowly skilled individual. However, practicing the basics of public speaking helps speaker in understanding & managing the audience. I have no doubt by now that Pimpri Toastmasters Club (PTMC) is a promising stage to practice a bit of all the elements of public speaking. I believe that PTMC can help me grow as an individual from a “Speech giver” to an “Inspiring & Influencing Speaker” one day. Different individuals gather above elements in different order, for instance someone might have higher self-esteem but possibly lesser linguistic skills and yet he is able to connect with the audience, however honing his skills might make him an effective speaker. An illustration of elements of public speaking vis-a-vis how PTMC is helping individuals to improve those elements:

Toastmasters to me << TM Rohith Bharadwaj, VC-1 Lot of means did I try to come out of my hectic, monotonous, solitary lifestyle that I was accustomed to in Pune, but in vain. There came a turning point in my life when one fine Saturday, I decided to spend my evening eventful, meaningful and yet not boring. Thanks to one of my colleagues for suggesting, it really did peace to the soul. There’s no turning back since then!! Selfless speeches by chartered accountants, HR personnel, engineers, students, teachers, doctors, people for whom three meal a day was a challenge once upon a time, people from all walks and standards of life coming together to sing out their lives, ultimately to make every listeners’ life experience filled. Toastmasters!! What a divine experience one can have, if he/she faithfully, whole heartedly tries to learn from every aspect of the meeting which is literally conducted in a godly manner. Fellow Toastmasters literally feel like a family now and there is an attachment or a bond that comes up as soon as you show up. From finishing one meeting to waiting for the next meeting, trying to present yourself neat, tidy, formal, fresh and more importantly the zeal to learn something from everyone trying to reach you out there is an experience by itself!! A personal feeling is that, Toastmasters is not just a platform for public speaking and personality development, but more importantly a way of living, which teaches the essence of life from learning others’ lives and experiences, if taken seriously. Toastmasters has been a great value addition into my life. The seriousness with which all the fellow Toastmasters maintain the sanctity, discipline, conduct and order of the meeting is definitely a learning for everyone. I personally feel that one has to be really fortunate enough to ever get an opportunity to become a Toastmaster. To sum up, everyone in this world feels that there is always something which they do not have, which they aspire to have and go around trying to achieve/obtain the same. But, there always comes a point where we have to realize that our lives that we are living today is a dream for millions out there and Toastmasters is one such platform that helps you realize the same!!

experience @ toastmasters << TM Nikhil Patil, PM-1 I had joined Toastmasters on 1st April 2020. My intention to join Toastmasters was to improve my public speaking skills. Guys, according to me, a good public speaker is not always the one who presents highly intellectual thoughts . In my opinion, if you could speak and connect to the audience and could deliver a speech confidently that makes you a great speaker. For this you need to have a good audience and at Toastmasters I personally believe that it is the perfect environment for an individual to groom his speaking skills. In addition, there are many other roles which can be taken up which further helps you to learn teamwork and leadership skills. The best part that I like is table topics round, in which the topic is given once you arrive on the stage and you have to speak for at least 1 minute. In addition to this, you are provided with a mentor with whom you can discuss about your speech and various roles which I think is a great learning curve. I have TM Chandra as my mentor and he has been very supportive and he guides me with writing scripts for my various speeches. Till date, I am having a great experience of being a member at Toastmasters and would definitely recommend everyone to attend toastmasters meeting as a guest and experience this wonderful event.Â

toastmasters Quotes
"The most precious things in SPEECH are the pauses"
"the purpose of a storyteller is not to tell you how to think but to give you question to think upon"
When presenting a speech, don't think about how the audience will look at you. Think about what VALUE you can give them
I start with the premises that the function of leadership is to produce more leaders, not more followers
Everyone gets STAGE FRIGHT. Embrace it and make it work for you or it will work against you
If you cannot communicate, it's like winking to a girl in the dark
A good speech is like a pencil; it has to have a point
32
Don't let your VOICE sound like all other noises today. Be LOUD, be CLEAR, and make a DIFFERENCE
The success of the presentation will be judged not by the knowledge you send but by what the listener receives
"Whatever your grade or position, if you know how and when to speak, and when to remain silent, your chances of real success are proportionately increased" - Ralph C. Smedley
