PRAYER
OF PREPARATION
Almighty God, renew us through the gifts of your Spirit, that we may always do what is just in your sight, that we, who can do nothing good without you, may live according to your holy will. Grant us humility of heart and softness of will, that we might live in the fullness of your blessing this day. Amen.
VOLUNTARY He Hideth My Soul Penny Rodriguez

Cantor: Blest are they, the poor in spirit; theirs is the kingdom of God. Blest are they, full of sorrow; they shall be consoled. (Refrain)
Cantor: Blest are they, the lowly ones; they shall inherit the earth. Blest are they who hunger and thirst; they shall have their fill. (Refrain)
Cantor: Blest are they who show mercy; mercy shall be theirs. Blest are they, the pure of heart; they shall see God. (Refrain)

CALL TO WORSHIP
One: Blessed are those who trust in the Lord, Many: whose confidence is in God.
One: They will be like a tree planted by the water,
Many: sending out roots by the stream.
One: This tree does not fear when heat comes, Many: its leaves are green, its fruit endures
One: So come, let us place our trust in God!
Many: Let us live in blessed faith together!
† PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Sustaining God, you would have us be deeply rooted in you, finding strength in your word and nourishment in your grace. More often, though, we live as chaff, blown here and there by the winds of circumstance. Forgive our lack of permanency and our failures to hold fast to our commitments. Grow in us faith that we might be firmly planted in your promises, released from sin, and open to the life you have shown in Jesus Christ.
KYRIE † ASSURANCE OF PARDON

One: The waters of grace refresh our lives and bring forth a new creation. Do you see it? Can you perceive it?
Many: God preserves a holy remnant and his mercy is from everlasting to everlasting.
One: In Jesus Christ you are forgiven. Many: Thanks be to God!

† AFFIRMATION OF FAITH The Apostles’ Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the
Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy ghost, the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
† THE PEACE
One: The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Many: And also with you.

ANTHEM God Shall the Broken Heart Repair

K. Lee Scott God shall the broken heart repair, and for all sickness and despair, a cure in Christ provide; and heal the wounded, sore and bruised, with oil into their wounds infused, and soothing, balm applied, and soothing balm applied. Come to me you weary, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me. My yoke is easy and my burden is light, and you shall find rest unto your souls. Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows. He was pierced for transgressions and bruised for our iniquities. The chastening which brought our peace fell to him, and with his stripes we are healed. God shall the broken heart repair, and for all sickness and despair, a cure in Christ provide; and heal the wounded, sore and bruised, with oil into their wounds infused, and soothing balm applied, and soothing balm applied.
