G ATHERING IN THE P RESENCE OF THE R ISEN C HRIST
PRAYER OF PREPARATION
God of resurrection, throughout the generations, you have been forging a path to new life. Though the death-dealing ways of Empire constantly beckon, you call us forth to a different way, reminding us of the power of resurrection. Free us this day from what tries to steal, kill, and destroy, and restore the joy of our salvation, that we might live secure with you. Amen.

CALL TO WORSHIP
One: Yet a little while and the wicked will be no more. Though you look diligently, they will not be there.
Many: But the meek shall inherit the earth and delight themselves in abundant prosperity.
One: Better is a little that the righteous person has than the abundance of the wicked.
Many: The Lord knows the days of the blameless and their heritage will abide forever.
One: They are not put to shame in evil times; in the days of famine, they have abundance.
Many: Let us praise the Lord in whom our steps are made firm.
OF CONFESSION
O Christ, you expend goodness and extend forgiveness beyond our imagining. We confess that our love languishes in crookedness and stingy practices. We seek to be repaid for good deeds. We hold grudges and count what we are owed; with no recognition for how deeply indebted we are to you. Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; we pray with our whole hearts.

† HYMN 386 Come, Worship God O QUANTA QUALIA † PRAYER
† ASSURANCE OF PARDON
One: Through the death and resurrection of Jesus, our weakness gives way to prayer, our dishonor disintegrates into glory, and we are raised with Christ.
Many: We believe in the good news of the gospel: in Jesus Christ, we are forgiven!

The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy ghost, the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
† THE PEACE
One: The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Many: And also with you.

ANTHEM What Does the Lord Require of You?

Robert A. Hobby
What does the Lord require of you? Bind up the brokenhearted, offering God’s peace. Strengthen the weak, offering God’s hope. Seek and find, find the face of Christ, seek and find the face of Christ in each of God’s children. What does the Lord require of you? Nurture the young and tend the old, offering God’s love. Feed the hungry, clothe the naked, offering God’s compassion. Share the good news in the Name of Christ. Share the good news: with God there is welcome, with God there is welcome for all! What does the Lord require of you? To do justice, and love kindness, and to walk humbly with God, to do justice, and love kindness, and to walk humbly with God. What does the Lord require of you, of you?
