Many: In the midst of the crowd, we will praise you. In our community, we will bear witness to our faith.

Many: Let us take up our cross and follow Christ.

† PRAYER OF THE DAY

† PRAYER OF CONFESSION Rev. Drumheller

Merciful God, we confess that we have not been sincere Christians. We claim to follow Jesus but have not taken his path of sacrificial love. We profess to be his disciples, but we are unwilling to bear the cost of discipleship. We affirm the virtue of self-denial, but we indulge our selfish desires and seek earthly gain. Forgive us, we pray. Free us for sincere repentance through Jesus Christ.

† AFFIRMATION OF FAITH Philippians 2:5-11

We believe in Jesus Christ, who, though he existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be grasped but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, assuming human likeness. And being found in appearance as a human, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death - even death on a cross. Therefore, God exalted him even more highly and gave him the name that is above every other name, so that at the name given to Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Amen.

† THE PEACE

One: The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Many: And also with you.

ANTHEM We Walk by Faith Kenneth T. Kosche

We walk by faith and not by sight; no gracious words we hear from Christ, who spoke as none e’er spoke, but we believe him near. We may not touch his hands and side, nor follow where he trod, but in his promise we rejoice, and cry, “My Lord and God!” Help then, O Lord, our unbelief; and may our faith abound to call on you where you are found: That, when our life of faith is done, in realms of clearer light, we may behold you with endless sight.

† PRESENTATION OF THE GIFTS

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise Christ, all people here below; Praise Holy Spirit evermore; praise triune God, whom we adore. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
