PRAYER OF PREPARATION

Holy God, as we move ever closer to the Passion of Christ, may your law of love be written on our hearts as he draws all people to himself revealing your love for the world. Amen.

VOLUNTARY Meditation on “St. Anne” Gordon Young

INTROIT Purge Me, O Lord

Thomas Tallis; arr. by Crawford Thoburn Purge me, O Lord, from all my sin, and save thou me by faith from ill, that I may rest and dwell with thee, upon thy holy blessed hill. And that done, grant that with true heart I may without hypocrisy affirm the truth, detract no man, but do all things with equity.

Beth Alwine

† PRAYER OF THE DAY

† PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Rev. Drumheller

Living Christ, with whom we journey to the cross, we confess that we are always looking for an easier way. We long for fullness of life with you, but we are slow to abandon the comforts we know. We seek the fruit of new life, but we are not willing to die to ourselves. You call us to life in community, but we stubbornly cling to “me and mine.” Yet you offer the grace of life abundant, even and especially when our best efforts fall short. Transform us, renew us, and free us from our attachment to what was, so that you might bring us into the glory of what will be.

† AFFIRMATION OF FAITH Philippians 2:5-11

We believe in Jesus Christ, who, though he existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be grasped but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, assuming human likeness. And being found in appearance as a human, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death - even death on a cross. Therefore, God exalted him even more highly and gave him the name that is above every other name, so that at the name given to Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Amen.

† THE PEACE

One: The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

Many: And also with you.

ANTHEM Blest Be the God of Love

George Herbert and Arlen Clarke

Blest be the God of love, who gave me eyes, and light and power this day, both to be busy and to play, but much more blest be God above, blest be the God of love. My God, thou art all love, my God, thou art all love, not one poor minute escapes thy breast, but brings a favor from above, in his love, and in his love, I rest.

† PRESENTATION OF THE GIFTS

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise Christ, all people here below; Praise Holy Spirit evermore; praise triune God, whom we adore. Amen.
