Hear the Voice and Prayer

Thomas Tallis, arr. by Crawford R. Thoburn

Hear the voice and prayer of thy servants, of thy servants, of thy servants, that they make before thee this day. That thine eyes be open toward this house night and day, be open toward this house night and day, ever toward this place, ever toward this place, of which thou hast said: “My Name shall be there, my Name shall be there, my Name shall be there.” And when thou hearest have mercy and when thou hearest have mercy on them, and when thou hearest have mercy on them, and when thou hearest have mercy on them.

What love you have given us, O God, that we should be called your children. What love you have given us, O Christ, that we should share a table with you. Forgive us when we act as if we were your only children: when we do not recognize your image in the faces of strangers, enemies, or friends; when we do not share our own tables, forgetting that we need each other. Forgive us, O Christ, maker of peace, and teach us to follow in your way. Receive our silent prayers of confession.

† AFFIRMATION OF FAITH

“Presence and Proclamation” Rev. Potter

This is the good news which we have received, in which we stand, and by which we are saved, if we hold it fast: that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day; and that he appeared first to the women. then to Peter, and to the Twelve, and then to many faithful witnesses. We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. Jesus Christ is the first and the last, the beginning and the end; he is our Lord and our God. Amen.

† THE PEACE

One: The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

Many: And also with you.

ANTHEM Go Forth and Tell!

David Ogden

Go forth and tell! O Church of God, awake! God’s saving news to all the nations take; proclaim Christ Jesus, Savior Lord and King, that all the world his worthy praise may sing. Go forth and tell! God’s love embraces all; he will in grace respond to all who call: how shall they call if they have never heard the gracious invitation of his word? Go forth and tell where still the darkness lies; in wealth or want, the sinner surely dies: give us, O Lord, concern for heart and mind, a love like yours which cares for humankind. Go forth and tell! The doors are open wide: share God’s good gifts let no one be denied; live out your life as Christ your Lord shall choose, your ransomed powers for his sole glory use. Go forth and tell! O Church of God arise! Go in the strength which Christ your Lord supplies. Go, go till all nations his great name adore and serve him, Lord and King for evermore. Amen, Amen.

† PRESENTATION OF THE GIFTS

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise Christ, all people here below; Praise Holy Spirit evermore; praise triune God, whom we adore. Amen.

One: In your mercy, Many: Lord, hear our prayer. … now and forever.

LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

DISTRIBUTION OF THE BREAD AND CUP

One: The gifts of God for the people of God.

Many: Let us keep the feast.

ANTHEM We Walk by Faith

Karen

We walk by faith and not by sight; no gracious words we hear from him who spoke as none e’er spoke, but we believe him near. We may not touch his hands and side nor follow where he trod, but in his presence, we rejoice and cry, “My Lord and God!” Help then, O Lord, our unbelief, and may our faith abound to call on you

when you are near and seek where you are found. That, when our life of faith is done, in realms of clearer light, may we behold you as you are, with full and endless sight.
