INTROIT The Gift of Love

Rev. Potter

Lloyd Larson

Though I may speak with bravest fire, and have the gift to all inspire, and have not love; my words are vain, as sounding brass, and hopeless gain. Though I may give all I possess, and striving so my love profess, but not be given by love within, the profit soon turns strangely thin. Come, spirit, come, our hearts control; our spirits long to be made whole. Let inward love guide every deed. By this, we worship and are freed.

† PRAYER OF CONFESSION Rev. Potter

O God of mercy, you have commanded us to abide in your love. We confess our failure to love you and our neighbor. And the truth is, we even fail to love ourselves. Forgive us we pray. Enable us to see each other, and ourselves, as your beloved children. Help us abide in, and be nourished by, your lavish love, that we may bear fruit in a world starving for justice, love and mercy. In Jesus Christ hear the prayers of our hearts.

† AFFIRMATION OF FAITH Romans 8

We believe there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus; and we know that in everything, God works for good with those who love him, who are called according to his purpose. We are sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.

† THE PEACE

One: The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

Many: And also with you.
