CALL TO WORSHIP

One: Brothers and sisters in Christ, let us gather in the shelter of God's presence.

Many: Let us bless the Lord, for God has wondrously shown us steadfast love.

One: God is indeed our rock and our refuge.

Many: God guides us and leads us.

One: Into God's hands, we commit our spirits, for God has redeemed us.

Many: Abundant is the goodness the Lord has stored up for those who gather to worship God!

One: Let us worship God!

HYMN 394 Christ Is Made the Sure Foundation

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Have mercy us on, O God, according to your steadfast love. For we know our sins which are always in front of our eyes. We have not loved you as deeply as our own heartbeat. We have failed to care for your body and for the whole of creation. Forgive us. According to your abundant mercy, blot out our transgressions and cleanse us. Restore to us the joy of your salvation and sustain in us a willing spirit. Free us to know joy and gladness and to live our days in praise.

† ASSURANCE OF PARDON

One: Because we were buried with Christ in these waters, we are also raised to life with him. Believe the Gospel!

Many: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Amen.

GLORIA GLORIA PATRI

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.

† AFFIRMATION OF FAITH

Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

† THE PEACE

One: The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Many: And also with you.

ANTHEM Good Shepherd

Gwyneth Walker

The King of love, my Shepherd is whose goodness fails me never. I have nothing to lack since I am His, and He is mine forever. I nothing lack, since I am His, and He is mine. Forever. God beside me. God behind me. God above me. Where streams of living waters flow, my troubled soul is healing. And quietly the pastures grow the voice of God revealing, and quietly the pastures grow the voice of God revealing. God beside me. God behind me. God above me. In darkest hours, I fear no ill, with my dear Lord beside me. Your strength and mercy comfort still, your hand is there to guide me. Your strength and mercy comfort still, your hand is there to guide me. God beside me. God behind me. God above me. And so through all the length of days, we ne’er shall grow apart. Good Shepherd, I will sing your praise for living in my heart. Good Shepherd, I will sing your praise for living in my heart, my heart. God beside me. God behind me. God above me. O King of love! O Prince of peace! O Child of Hope! Good Shepherd, I will sing Your praise for living in my heart.
