PRAYER
OF PREPARATION
We beseech thee, Master, to be our helper and protector. Save the afflicted among us; have mercy on the lowly; raise up the fallen; appear to the needy; heal the ungodly; restore the wanderers of thy people; feed the hungry; ransom our prisoners; raise up the sick; comfort the faint-hearted.
VOLUNTARY For the Beauty of the Earth arr. by Julie A. Lind (Please use the opening voluntary as a time of silent meditation and preparation for worship.)
SALUTATION
Sarah Pearce
One: The hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth. Many: For the Father seeks such as these to worship him.
INTROIT We Walk by Faith
Karen Marrolli
We walk by faith and not by sight; no gracious words we hear from him who spoke as none e’er spoke, but we believe him near. We may not touch his hands and side nor follow where he trod, but in his presence, we rejoice and cry, “My Lord and God!” Help then, O Lord, our unbelief, and may our faith abound to call on you when you are near and seek where you are found. That, when our life of faith is done, in realms of clearer light, may we behold you as you are, with full and endless sight.

CALL TO WORSHIP
One: If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, then the flood would have swept us away, the torrent would have gone over us.
Many: We have escaped like a bird from the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken and we have escaped.
One: Our help is in the name of the Lord,
Many: who made heaven and earth.
One: Let us worship God.
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Holy Spirit of truth, we confess that we have sinned against you by our thoughts and our actions. We have doubted your power at work in unfamiliar people, and denied your presence in places that seem rough around the edges. We have led others to stumble by divisions in our body and set back those who do not conform. Purify our hearts and season us with your own boundary-breaking character, that we might trust in the power of prayer to set us free from sin, to save the sick, and heal our broken world.

† HYMN 307 God of Grace and God of Glory CWM RHONDDA
†

† ASSURANCE OF PARDON
One: The prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise them up; and anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven.
Many: The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective. Amen.
† GLORIA GLORIA PATRI
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.

† AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
Message of the 1st Assembly of the World Council of Churches (1948) There is a word of God for our world. It is that the world is in the hands of the living God, whose will for it is wholly good; that in Christ Jesus, His incarnate Word, who lived and died and rose from the dead, God has broken the power of evil once for all, and opened for everyone that gate into freedom and joy in the Holy Spirit; that the final judgment on all human history and on every human deed is the judgment of the merciful Christ; and that the end of history will be the triumph of His Kingdom, where alone we shall understand how much God has loved the world. This is God’ s unchanging word to the world.
† THE PEACE
One: The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Many: And also with you.

ANTHEM Dear Lord and Father
C. Hubert H. Parry Dear Lord and Father of mankind, forgive our foolish ways; reclothe us in our rightful mind; in purer lives, Thy service find, in deeper reverence, praise, in deeper reverence, praise. In simple trust like theirs who heard, beside the Syrian sea, the gracious calling of the Lord, let us, like them, without a word, rise up and follow Thee, rise up and follow Thee. Drop Thy still dews of quietness, till all our strivings cease; take from our souls the strain and stress, and let our ordered lives confess the beauty of Thy peace, the beauty of Thy peace. Breath thro’ the heats of our desire Thy coolness and Thy balm; let sense be dumb, let flesh retire; speak thro’ the earthquake, wind, and fire, O still small voice of calm, O still small voice of calm!
† PRESENTATION OF THE GIFTS
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise Christ, all people here below; Praise Holy Spirit evermore; praise triune God, whom we adore. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
