PRAYER OF PREPARATION
Dear God, you are bigger than I can know and closer than I can bear. But somehow you call me worthy to speak your name and share your power. Give me a sign today that I am on the right path, and feed me every day with your truth and tender mercy. Amen.

CALL TO WORSHIP
One: Vindicate me, O Lord, for I have walked in my integrity; I have trusted you without wavering.
Many: O Lord, I love the house in which you dwell and the place where your glory abides.
One: Do not sweep me away with sinners, nor my life with the bloodthirsty. Many: My foot stands on level ground; in the great congregation, I will bless the Lord.
One: Let us worship God.
† HYMN 4 Holy God, We Praise Your Name
† PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Sovereign God, you bring us more good things than we can count. By the rhythms of creation, you sustain our labors. Through prophets, you call us out from the toils of death. In Christ, you offer us a new beginning. Even so, we confess that we act as if these good things were accidental. We do not praise your name with the angels co-laboring beside us. We disregard Christ below us, who bears our sins in places of violence and deprivation. We have not shared your Spirit with those around us who are weary, traumatized, and hurting. Help us to work for the end of suffering and offer rest to each other, trusting that our final rest and our ultimate vocation is in you.

† AFFIRMATION OF FAITH from the Belhar Confession
We believe in one holy, universal Christian church, The unity of the communion of saints of the entire human family, and we believe that this unity of the people of God must be manifest and active, in that we love one another. That we give ourselves willingly and joyfully to one another, that we share one baptism together, that we eat of one bread and drink of one cup together, that we confess one name, one Lord, for one cause, with one hope, which is the height and the breadth and the depth and the love of Christ, forever and ever. Amen.
† THE PEACE
One: The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
Many: And also with you.

For the beauty of the earth, for the beauty of the skies, for the love which from our birth over and around us lies, over and around us lies: Lord of all, to thee we raise this our joyful hymn of praise. For the beauty of each hour of the day and of the night, hill and vale and tree and flower, sun and moon and stars of light: Lord of all, to thee we raise this our joyful hymn of praise.
