PRAYER OF PREPARATION
Jesus Christ, our Sovereign, and Savior, you pour out your power for the powerless and your salvation for the lost. Remember us in your new creation so that we may live in peace with you in the presence of the Holy One, to whom be all honor and glory, through you, in the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.

CALL TO WORSHIP
One: O Lord, remember all the hardships our ancestors endured.
Many: How they swore to you, I will not rest or slumber until I find a place for the Lord, a dwelling place for the Mighty One.
One: Rise up, O Lord, and come to your resting place.
Many: Let our high priest be clothed with righteousness. Do not turn away from the face of your anointed one.
One: Let the faithful shout for joy at the throne of our king.
Many: Let us go to Christ’s dwelling place; let us worship at his feet.
† HYMN 307 God of Grace and God of Glory
† PRAYER OF CONFESSION
O Holy One, you showed us what it means to live by your reign: sharing food with the hungry, freedom with the imprisoned, justice with the oppressed, and joy with the sorrowful. We ask your forgiveness, O God, for all the ways we fail to live as people who belong to your reign. Show us once more what our belonging means, for you are the beginning, you are the end, and, in every time between, you fill our lives with grace.
† SILENCE FOR PERSONAL CONFESSION
† KYRIE

† ASSURANCE OF PARDON
One: Believe the good news of the gospel. The sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory about to be revealed to us. In Jesus Christ you are forgiven.
Many: Thanks be to God.
† GLORIA GLORIA PATRI
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.

One: The Word of the Lord.
Many: Thanks be to God.
† PSALM 132 (All sing the refrain as indicated.)

O LORD, remember in David’s favor all the hardships he endured; how he swore to the LORD and vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob (R)
“I will not enter my house or get into my bed; I will not give sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids, until I find a place for the LORD, a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.” (R)
We heard of it in Ephrathah; we found it in the fields of Jaar.
“Let us go to his dwelling place; let us worship at his footstool.” (R)
Rise up, O LORD, and go to your
resting place, you and the ark of your might.
Let your priests be clothed with righteousness, and let your faithful shout for joy.
For your servant David’s sake, do not turn away the face of your anointed one. (R)
The LORD swore to David a sure oath from which he will not turn back: “One of the sons of your body I will set on your throne.
If your sons keep my covenant and my decrees that I shall teach them, their sons also, forevermore, shall sit on your throne.” (R)

† AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
adapted from the Confession of 1967 Biblical visions and images of the rule of Christ, such as a heavenly city, the household of God, a new heaven and earth, a marriage feast, and an unending day culminate in the image of the kingdom. The kingdom represents God’s triumph over all that resists the divine will and disrupts God’s creation. Already God’s reign is present as a ferment in the world, stirring hope in all people and preparing the world to receive its ultimate judgment and redemption. With an urgency born of this hope, the church applies itself to present tasks and strives for a better world. It does not identify limited progress with the kingdom of God on earth, nor does it despair in the face of disappointment and defeat. In steadfast hope, the church looks beyond all partial achievement to the final triumph of God.
† THE PEACE
One: The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Many: And also with you.

THE OFFERING OF TITHES AND GIFTS TO GOD
ANTHEM King of Glory, King of Peace
Alfred
V. Fedak
The best ideal is the true, and other truth is none. All glory be ascribed to the holy Three in One. King of glory, King of peace. I will love thee; and, that love may never cease, I will move thee. Thou hast granted my request, thou hast heard me; thou didst note my working breast, thou hast spared me. Wherefore with my utmost art I will sing thee, and the cream of all my heart I will bring thee. Though my sins against me cried, thou didst clear me, and alone, when they replied, thou didst hear me. Seven whole days, not one in seven, I will praise thee; in my heart, though not in heaven, I can raise thee. Small it is, in this poor sort to enroll thee: E’en eternity’s too short to extol thee.
† PRESENTATION OF THE GIFTS
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise Christ, all people here below; Praise Holy Spirit evermore; praise triune God, whom we adore. Amen.

One: Let your will be done
Many: on earth as in heaven.

LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
DISTRIBUTION OF THE BREAD AND CUP
One: The gifts of God for the people of God. Many: Let us keep the feast.
