The Music Search Committee is proud to present Mr. Brett Terry as Pine Street’s newly selected Minister of Music and Worship.
choir, met the staff, demonstrated their skills on the organ and piano, toured the Harrisburg area, and met with the search committee.
Last August the Music Search Committee was formed to choose a successor for Thomas Clark-Jones upon his retirement. Once advertised, the position at Pine Street attracted over 60 applicants from around the USA, and a few from abroad. Between August and December, the committee reviewed applications and eventually selected 11 candidates as semi-finalists. In December the committee conducted online interviews with these applicants, and narrowed the field to five finalists, one of whom withdrew during the process. On-site interviews were conducted with the “final four” during February, during which the candidates rehearsed the
The committee’s goal was to identify the candidate who exhibited the best combination of musicianship, leadership, collegiality, personality, and a sense of music as a ministry, vital to the church and to our wider community. We were fortunate to have four outstanding candidates, and ultimately made Brett Terry our first choice. Upon being offered the position, Brett accepted quickly and with enthusiasm.

Youth On The Move by Cheryl A. Goode
As I read this month’s “The Presbyterian Outlook” magazine, I came across an article by Lauren Wheeler Scharstein who is an associate pastor for youth and families. In her article she talks about how students in this day and time are hyper-connected through all their activities and social media. The question she posed to them is what was their most meaningful experience in worship? The overwhelming response was during the time of silent prayer. See Youth on page 3
