Back Where I’ve Always Been Anne Guenin, Church Administrator
It is no joke that on April Fool’s Day the “interim” label was removed from my job title and I became Pine Street’s Church Administrator. This means that I am primarily responsible for the business operations of the church. The best part about my job is that every day is different, and I get to wear many hats. Sometimes I get to be an accountant and deal with financial statements and tax issues. On other days I get to address legal issues, as I am responsible for anything that involves a contract or agreement to which the church is a party. Some days I feel like a banker because I process all of the deposits of monies and pay all of the bills of the church. Most every day involves a human resource issue. In that regard, I am responsible for the church’s payroll and supervise some staff. Some days I get to interact with the great people who are members of Pine Street because I attend all
meetings of the Board of Trustees, the Session, and some committees. On other days I put on my helper hat by relieving Russell of some of his administrative duties so that his efforts can be better focused on his more important pastoral duties. Then there are those days when I just do what needs to be done, no matter whether there is a hat for it nor not. As Russell has previously pointed out, the word “minister” is in the word administrator. By serving Pine Street in this role, I feel like I am doing important work for the church that benefits its worship, education, and mission. I am also the administrator for Downtown Daily Bread. And as the plans for the Adult Learning Center and its implementation begin to take shape, I will play a role in the administration of that, too. It is a joy to work with the other staff members here. Pine Street is See HATS on page 2
MAPS Hosts Two May Events by Tom Clark-Jones
Many members and friends have commented that they missed having Music at Pine Street events during January and February, but it seems to have been a providential choice of dates, allowing us to avoid having to cancel any events because of this difficult winter. With the coming of May, we can be pretty sure these two wonderful offerings will not be snowed out! First, on Friday evening, May 9 at 7:30pm, Dr. James Kibbie, concert organist, who has been a part of the legendary organ See MAPS on page 4
