Rally Day September 13 “In the beginning, God. . .” by Rev. Heather Sigler, Parish Associate

William Blake observed that “Every April God rewrites the book of Genesis.” It’s true that spring is often viewed as the time of new beginnings. Dormant flower bulbs spring to life in our gardens and fruit trees sport myriads of blossoms. In April the whole earth seems to be alive with new vitality. However in the church it’s the fall season that marks a time of New Beginnings. Rally Day this year will highlight many New Beginnings at Pine Street. Rally Day begins with an Intergenerational Brunch at 9:40 am on Sunday, September 13. Following breakfast there will be a brief commissioning service for our leaders in education programs. Then younger children will be dismissed

Session Deals with Concerns The Session met recently to discuss and act upon many business and administrative matters. It also heard a report from the Personnel Committee concerning a mediation process that had previously been approved by Session. As part of that approval, Session had asked the Personnel Committee to gauge the interest of various members of the church who had sent a letter to Presbytery earlier this year, as to their intentions of participating in a professional reconciliation process. Members of the Personnel Committee met with many of those who had sent the letter and after those meetings determined that there was no interest from them in pursuing a mediation or reconciliation See Concerns on page 2
