MAYOR & CITY COUNCIL
WELCOME MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR
Mayor Grover Robinson, IV Ann Hill, City Council President, District 6 Delarian Wiggins, City Council Vice President, District 7 Jennifer Brahier, Council Member, District 1 Sherri Myers, Council Member, District 2 Casey Jones, Council Member, District 3 Jared Moore, Council Member, District 4 Teniadé Broughton, Council Member, District 5
The sun is out, and the weather is warm. It’s time to get out and play! The spring and summer season marks our most vibrant time of the year here in Pensacola. Families and individuals from near and far visit the city to enjoy our pristine beaches, local bays and bayous, and beautiful city parks during the warmer months. There’s plenty to do on this side of paradise, and our Parks and Recreation Department is here to ensure that whether you are a visitor or resident, everyone can be entertained all season long. Planning a short-term visit? Leave your recreational equipment at home and rent a bike or kayak at the Bayview Outdoor Pursuits Center. Hosting a family reunion? Rent a multipurpose room at one of our 10 resource centers and then gather the family to explore Pensacola’s public art through our story map website, artventurepensacola.com. ArtVenture details significant information about the art in our city and is sure to impress the art connoisseurs of the family. Be sure to visit the special events programs outlined in this edition of our activity guide, The Playbook. Plan for a family-friendly movie night underneath the stars during our Movies in the Park series or spend an evening of dancing by the cool breeze of the bay during our Blues Angel Music Blues on the Bay concert series. Our aquatics season operates Memorial Day through Labor Day. Come out for a splash at Hunter Pool or Roger Scott Pool. Please note that while there are exciting improvements underway at Hunter Pool, both facilities are expected to open for their regular season. Speaking of splash, it has been almost one year since we opened our Splash Pad at Legion Field! We hope you take time this summer to visit and beat the heat. We could never forget about our family pets. Let your pups off leash at our new fenced dog park at Kiwanis Park, which offers fun amenities for pups both large and small. Lastly, we’re all about summer camp, and we offer many choices for youth to stay engaged while school is out. For the first time this year, we’re even hosting a yoga camp. Thank you for keeping us in mind when exploring activities in the city this spring and summer. We wish you a great season filled with fun and family, and we hope you take advantage of everything the City of Pensacola has to offer. – Mayor Grover Robinson, IV
