MAYOR & CITY COUNCIL

WELCOME MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR

Mayor Grover Robinson, IV Ann Hill, City Council President, District 6 Delarian Wiggins, City Council Vice President, District 7 Jennifer Brahier, Council Member, District 1 Sherri Myers, Council Member, District 2 Casey Jones, Council Member, District 3 Jared Moore, Council Member, District 4 Teniadé Broughton, Council Member, District 5

I am extremely grateful to have each of you with us to celebrate the start of a new year. We’ve come very far as a community over the past year and a half, and I am proud that despite the adversity we have faced, we all worked harder than ever to keep our city strong to ensure Pensacola remains a great place to live. It’s great that others have also recognized how special Pensacola is. We’ve seen exponential residential growth, and it is important to mirror that within our parks system. If you are new to the area and reading this, welcome to the City of Pensacola! With 93 city-owned parks and 11 resource centers, our Parks and Recreation Department seeks to provide ways to help you stay active and healthy and fulfill our motto to “Get out and Play”! We’re especially excited about the new Bayview Outdoor Pursuits Center that opened last February and encourage you to use it to explore our surrounding waterways. The center is open year-round and offers short-term and extended watersport and outdoor equipment rentals at affordable rates – voted on by your City Council! While you’re not out on the water, take the opportunity to explore Pensacola’s public art by visiting the Parks and Recreation story map website at pensacolaoutdoorproject. com. The Pensacola Outdoor Project, also known as POP!, details significant information about the art in our city and makes it easy to discover more! Also, be on the lookout for registration dates for spring sports the entire family can enjoy, such as girls volleyball, youth soccer and our adult sports leagues. Each new year brings exciting new opportunities, and I hope that you can take the time to learn more about the city’s recreational programs outlined in this edition of our activity guide, The Playbook. I wish you a prosperous new year and would like to thank you again for maintaining the community spirit that makes the City of Pensacola so special. – Mayor Grover Robinson, IV
