Poets to perform at Castle Imtiaz Dharker, Gillian Clarke and poet laureate, Carol Ann Duffy have written poems to commemorate the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta. They will be performed for the first time at the castle on June 8th.

10k pints drunk at festival Lincoln CAMRA’s beer festival once again grew in popularity this year with nearly 4000 visitors and over 10,000 pints drank over the three days. Festival organiser Wendy Margetts said: “There was a great atmosphere throughout the three days. And with the Super Rally on at the Showground, there was a real buzz in the city.”

Lincoln hosts Harley fans For the first time in 26 years England played host to one of the biggest HarleyDavidson rallies in the world. Thousands of bikers from across Europe descended on the Lincolnshire Showground so if you were wondering what all those growling engines were… now you know.

Cows invade Lincoln Two Lincoln roads, Birchwood Avenue and Skellingthorpe Road, were overrun by a herd of cows in the early hours of May 28th. Human police closed the roads and ushered the cows into a nearby field. The cows were unavailable for comment.

From the editoR Look up. Go on, look at the bar. Is there a look of absolute relief on the bartender’s face? Do they look happy? Do they look like they’ve had a

amazing day recently? There’s a reason.

May is inexplicably a month of many bank

holidays. Wonderful for some, brilliant for the ninetofivers but not too good for the bar staff, waiters, chefs and retail workers in our lives.

Whilst you were sunning yourself in a beer

garden or chilling out with a BBQ in your own these wonderful people were working hard to get you a cool pint or a hot coffee. Bank holidays are like having three busy Saturday nights in a row. They’re hard, tiring and then they finally get to the Monday and they're asked “How did you spend your bank holiday?”. Working!

Take a moment to raise a glass to people who

handed it to you. Happily pouring your drinks and cooking your food each evening so you don’t have to. Now, get back to work. No more bank holidays until August...

Cheers!
