The beautiful heart of MaLu I
t’s not every day the words inspiring, stylish, innovative, and beautiful are used together, but that exactly what comes to mind when I think of Maria Luisa - founder of MaLu. Maria is a high school teacher with a passion for community and humanity. Having seen first-hand some of her students come to school hungry, she knew that it was no way to learn and she just had to do something about it. She started the “Start Me Up” breakfast program in her school. The program began with $500 and many local businesses eager to help, and grew to become the model school for the Toronto District School Board’s nutrition program, and resulting in a $100K grant from Sun Life Financial to help expand it. Unfortunately the school where this initiative began had to close, which was “detrimental” since there was more work to be done. Not one to wallow, Maria took her passion and energy and devoted it wholeheartedly to MaLu where she continues to make a difference by donating 5% of all sales to local charities. WHY BUTTERFLIES? “They’re my inspiration. They represent transformation and change. My students are my monarch’s. They have taught me so much, and they continue to teach me every day. This line is really a representation of my love, not just my name. Society is always on the move, but everyone needs love and support, and that’s what I hope to achieve with this line.” As part of this desire Maria started the Global Messenger program where she travels to Colombia to meet kids living in Poverty at the highest most mountainous points of the country. She not only creates breakfast and lunch programs for them, serves ice cream and organizes activities, but she will be sending 400 pairs of shoes with customized messages of encouragement for each and every child for a great start to their upcoming new school year! “It’s funny, because in Columbia the impoverished live on top of the mountain with a million dollar view. The ‘rich’ folks live in the valley with all the pollution. It sure makes you think where we place importance.” Maria adds.

Actress LENA DUNHAM has reportedly landed her dream role as a guest star on an upcoming episode of hit drama SCANDAL. The Girls star/creator has been tapped for a cameo on the Kerry Washington-led political series for an episode airing this month (March), according to Variety. Dunham has previously expressed her interest in a part on the show, no matter how small. In an interview with website Grantland last year, Dunham admitted, "Basically, my life's great passion is the idea of being a guest star on Scandal. Actor JASON BIGGS will not feature in the third season of ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK as producers have decided to shift the focus away from his character’s relationship with his onscreen fiancee, played by TAYLOR SCHILLING. Actor MATTHEW MORRISON struggled to contain his emotions as filming on his series GLEE wrapped for the final time, admitting there were "a lot of tears". He told Eonline.com, "It was a tough day. I'm not going to cry now because I kind of got it all out, but it was a really tough day." Morrison sang Glee's closing song and the scene left everyone in tears. omance rumors have run rampant around Rihanna and Leonardo DiCaprio after the two were allegedly spotted out together on a few occasions over the past few months. Purely speculation for now, until we see (more than grainy) pictures to prove otherwise. But there have been enough eye witnesses to raise a few eyebrows. Forty-year-old Wolf of Wall Street actor DiCaprio attended a private 27th birthday bash for the Bajan songstress at the home of businessman Jim Goldstein in LA late last month (Feb. 20). The party was reportedly attended by some of Hollywood’s best, including Jim Carrey, Bill Murray, Naomi Campbell, Beyonce, Jay Z, and model Angela Martini. Leo’s eyes were apparently on RiRi as a source told US Weekly that the two were “dancing close all night.” Earlier this year sources told TMZ that the two stars were seen “swapping spit” at a Playboy Mansion party in January – although a friend of Leo’s denied that kissing occurred. They had reportedly been seen hanging out together on New Year’s Eve (‘14) and Valentine’s Day weekend in New York, when they both attended a Paul McCartney concert at Irving Plaza.

iCaprio’s no stranger to pretty women – he has dated a string of supermodels over the past decade, including Toni Garrn, Bar Refaeli and Gisele Bundchen. Rihanna had previously been linked to Drake and R&B star Chris Brown, who was forced to cancel a string of sold-out shows in Canada last month (24Feb15) after he was denied entry into the country due to “immigration issues”. Brown’s past criminal record includes a conviction for assaulting Rihanna in 2009. Brown on his end recently (23Feb15) commented on the alleged RihannaDicaprio romance and he’s totally cool with it. In a radio interview with Hot 97, he said “I’m gonna have to give her that, because you know what? Ain’t nowhere else you coulda went though. High five.” “You can only go up, and that’s the upper, upper echelon…” he said. “I’m not even a hater. I’ll give you a slap on the back, booty, everything, ‘Hey, do your thing. Good game.’ In that situation, I just tip my hat. I’m not a hater. I’m not envious, I don’t feel jealous. Do your thing.
