PIANO PROGRAM —YOUTH & ADULT
Important Notes for Piano Classes:
• Students must have access to a piano or keyboard for daily practice at home between classes. Limited rentals are available at CMC. Call 503-823-3177 for more information.

• These courses runs through the school year (3 terms: Fall, Winter, and Spring).
Youth
Piano Primer | Age 6-10
To master eighty-eight keys, start with the basics. Focus on sitting & hand technique, note names, beginning rhythms, dynamics & more. Feel the accomplishment of playing your first tunes!
Students use Faber Piano Adventures Primer Level Lesson book (available for purchase or loan at CMC).
Continuing
Call CMC (503-823-3177) for class day and time options. Enrollment priority given to CMC students returning from spring or summer. Those new to CMC will be waitlisted and notified 1-2 weeks prior to class start if a spot is available.
Piano Adventurers | Age 7-14
Students use Faber Piano Adventures Lesson Book 1 (available for purchase or loan at CMC).
Prerequisite: to have accomplished all the lessons in the Piano Primer book.

Piano Laboratory| Age 7-14
Getting ahead of the class? Experiment with more individual attention. Enjoy making progress at your speed while benefiting from the chemistry of a group setting. Less expensive than private lessons. Prerequisite: at least 2 years of group piano class or the equivalent, or instructor approval.

Adult
Piano Beginning | Age 60 & up
Explore the elements of rhythm, melody and harmony in a comfortable small class setting. Learn to read music and play popular songs on a full-size piano. This class uses the Alfred Basic Adult All-in-one Piano Course. There is a $18 fee for lesson book to purchase on the first day of class, not included in the activity fee.

These classes continue in the Alfred Basic Adult All-in-one Piano Course. Class options are listed below in order of progress in the books. Returning students continue at the same day and time as last term. If you are new, call the CMC office before registering to check level and to confirm the class is a good fit.

Music Theory | Age 60 & up
Would you like to know more about the fundamentals? Discover basic principles through the study of keyboard harmony, intervals, tonality, chord functions & progressions. Learn to analyze & better understand repertoire. Comprehension & performance ability will increase dramatically. Instructor may require materials not included in registration fee.
