Rose City Singers

Do you like singing in a mixed chorus with fellow songsters? Join this group for a relaxed and social time. Perform old standards and your favorite tunes. Enjoy a lifelong love with new friends. Singers practice for four weeks and then travel each Monday to area senior living facilities to entertain residents. Practice dates are September 11, 18, 25, and October 2 from 1:00–3:00pm at the Community Music Center. Performances: October–May. (No December performances.) Join this fun and energetic group of seniors in the Lifelong Recreation Hiking Programs. Orientation is for the beginning to advanced hiker. Receive information that helps you have a successful outdoor experience. It's optional to attend an Orientation session prior to participating in our program.

Metro Movers

Hike Level 1

$2 per hike • 10:00am–12:00pm

Attend if you're interested in learning more about Metro Movers, Hike for Health, Advanced Hike for Health, and Snowshoeing programs.

Detailed information on the meeting location and directions will be included on your receipt. Internet users can view their receipts online.

Prerequisite: There is no skill level assessment required to participate in this program, but you must be able to walk a 25-minute mile without shortness of breath. S turdy footwear required.

Hike Ratings

Easy: Trails are essentially level or with limited elevation change with well-defined solid surfaces.

Moderate: Trails have modest elevation changes over short distances with surfaces consisting of pavement, packed gravel, or dirt with a limited number of footing obstacles such as rocks, roots, or fallen logs.

Difficult: Trails may have substantive elevation changes over long distances with surfaces consisting of pavement, packed gravel, or dirt with possibly numerous footing obstacles such as rocks, roots, or fallen logs.

Icon identifies hikes that are accessible by public transit.

10/2 Cazadero Trail

Boring, OR Easy 1157565

Follow the former Oregon Water Power and Railway Company corridor along wooded North Fork Deep Creek. We’ll hopefully find some blackberries! Trail is unimproved and gravel. Restrooms available.

10/9 Audubon Loop Trails

Portland Moderate 1157567 Walk is on forest floor with some steep inclines. Restrooms at Audubon House.

10/16 to Rocky Butte

Rocky Butte is one of almost 100 cinder cones, shield volcanoes, and lava vents that make up the Boring Lava Field in the greater Portland area. Walk is on trails. Restrooms available at Grotto gift shop.

10/23 Tualatin River Greenway Tigard, OR Easy 1157571

This hike features a stroll through Cook Park’s Tupling Butterfly Garden and the prehistorical and historical interpretative stations along the forested pathways of the Tualatin River Greenway. Restrooms available.

10/30 Hoyt Arboretum and Forest Park

This 232-acre Arboretum is located in the west hills of Portland. Walk is on forest floor with some inclines. Restrooms available.

11/6 Goose Hollow to Rose Garden

Walk on sidewalks with elevation gain to Washington Park with dirt trails. This hike features a visit to Forest Park’s Holocaust Memorial, fountains, statues, and Portland’s own International Rose Test Garden. Restrooms available. Hike for Health qualifier

11/13 Gresham Art and Nature Walk Gresham, OR Easy 1157577

This hike will feature a walk by some of downtown Gresham’s most notable outdoor art, heritage sites and adjacent natural areas. Restrooms available.
