Little Big Tennis

Age 4–5

This class focuses on introducing the game of tennis and the fundamentals of form. Court size at this level are 36’ x 18’, with a net that is 2’9” high. Red foam balls are softer and bounce slower to make learning more accessible for small children.

Little Big Shots

Age 6–7

This class focuses on introducing the game of tennis and the fundamentals of form. Players will learn balance, agility and coordination. Bronze

Bronze level classes are appropriate for new players and players with some playing experience. The class will focus on the fundamentals of serving and rallying using a game-based curriculum and develop balance, agility and coordination. Age

Silver

Bronze: All levels/beginning– Advanced beginning Silver, Gold, Diamond: Enrollment by instructor recommendation or evaluation only.

Silver level classes are an intermediate level class for students who want to advance their skills and start match play experience. Focus will include stroke mechanics as well as doubles positioning and tactics.

Gold 1

Age 8–18

Gold level classes are an advanced level class for students that have significant playing experience and are playing competitively in tournaments. Players should have achieved the fundamentals of stroke mechanics and be moving towards refining their strokes and play style. UTR Level: 1-2.99

Gold 2

Age 8–18

Gold level classes are an advanced level class for students that have significant playing experience and are playing competitively in tournaments. Players should have achieved the fundamentals of stroke mechanics and be moving towards refining their strokes and play style. UTR Level: 3-5.99

Diamond

Age 12–18

Diamond level classes are an advanced level class for tournament level players who are looking for a rigorous, high intensity challenge. UTR Level: 6+

All Level Weekend Play

PTC is proud to partner with KidsNTennis, the Greater Portland Tennis Council, and USTA Rec Tennis to provide weekend opportunities for all levels to participate, play, and learn more about tennis. We hope to see you on the court! Racquets provided.

Kids N’ Tennis, Inc. is open to any children who are interested in learning how to play tennis and could benefit from an excellent coaching staff of certified tennis teaching professionals. Kids can attend our free summer camps at Irving Park or participate in yearround lessons at the Portland Tennis Center, Saturday mornings from 8:00–10:30am. SUNDAY MORNINGS : USTA RecTennis

RecTennis makes tennis and life skills programs accessible for communities across the Pacific Northwest regardless of age, skill level, and socioeconomic background. RecTennis provides the rest: USTA-approved tennis activities, educational curricula that meets state and federal standards, and free equipment. PTC provides the space. Adult Programs

Beginning Age 18 & up (USTA / NTRP 1.0–2.0)

This Beginning Tennis Class is designed for people who are new to the game or who have not received instruction to provide basic skills needed to play tennis, including etiquette, positioning , rules, and scoring. USTA Level of 1.0-2.0

Advanced Beginning Age 18 & up (USTA / NTRP 2.0–2.5)

The Adult Advanced Beginning class will expand on what has been learned in the Adult Beginning Class and players will work on developing more consistency across all strokes.

Intermediate

Age 18 & up | (USTA / NTRP 2.5–3.0)

This class will build on the basics, reinforcing technique, adding advanced drills and learning how to play doubles.

Advanced Intermediate

Age 18 & up | (USTA / NTRP 3.5 +)

These lessons are for participants who already have sound fundamentals and are working on advanced technique such as spin serves, continental grip volleys, the slice backhand and basic strategies. Players at this level are ready for USTA or other competitive play. Lessons will focus on refining strokes and developing offensive and defensive abilities. Strategy and tactics for singles and doubles will be covered.
