LIFELONG — ENSEMBLES AND GROUP CLASSES
Drumming Together for Women | Age 60 & up
This class is open to those who identify as female; no musical experience needed. Find freedom of expression through playing drums and percussion with others. Gain fundamental techniques while trying instruments such as djembes, ashikos, claves, bells, shakers, and more. Explore multi-part rhythms, including West African, Brazilian and contemporary beats, with plenty of time for drum circle games and free-form expression. *Instruments are provided by CMC for the class meetings. Open to all ages with priority to age 60 & up. Those under age 60 can enroll on the waitlist.

Take the first steps to mastery. Start with the basics of technique, tone production and note reading. Apply these new skills to play simple melodies & accompaniments in a supportive, small group setting. This activity is open to ages 18 and up but gives priority to participants age 60 and above. Find your Renaissance by learning this timeless instrument in the pleasure and comfort of a small group. Begins with note reading, fingering and simple songs to play. Bring your own recorder (none provided); instructor suggests Aulos, Zenon or Yamaha brand). Both C (soprano, tenor) & F (alto, bass) recorders welcome. This class is open to age 18 & up with priority to age 60 plus. Use waitlist if under age 60. Instructor may require materials not included in activity fee. Rose City Singers | Age 60 & up
Do you like singing in a mixed chorus with fellow songsters? Join this group for a relaxed & social time. Perform old standards & your favorite tunes. Enjoy a lifelong love with new friends. Singers practice for four weeks & then travel each Monday to area senior living facilities to entertain residents. Practice dates are September 11, 18, 25, and October 2, 1:00-3:00pm at CMC. Performances October–May. (No December performances.) To schedule a performance at your facility, call 503-823-4328.
