Bird Walk at Whitaker Ponds Nature Park

Take an excursion with our birding instructor Elaine Murphy, whose decades of experience leading groups will improve our odds to start or add to our bird lists! Elaine will bring her spotting scope to help us identify and get a closer look at the birds we find. Dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes. Talking Tombstones and Lunch

Back for another year, the Clatsop County Historical Society's Talking Tombstones event will raise the dead. Tour the graveyard and along the way you will meet colorful characters in costume talking about their role in history. Listen to the "living dead" and help preserve and honor the legacy of Astoria's residents. Bring money for lunch.

Gorge Waterfalls and Multnomah Falls Lodge

Take a scenic drive along our historic highway, winding past lush waterfalls of the Columbia River Gorge. We'll stop to take short walks to waterfalls as we make our way to the base of the picturesque, 620 ft tall Multnomah Falls. There, the Historic Multnomah Falls Lodge awaits to offer a place of relaxation. We'll break for lunch, enjoying the fireplace. Bring your camera, as we will have several opportunities for scenic photos. Bring money for lunch and purchases in the gift shops. Most Multnomah Falls Lodge entrees, burgers and sandwiches cost about $15–20.

Mystery Thrift

Back by popular request- it's a bargain hunter's dream! Plan for a day of thrifty shopping. Prepare to haggle, hound and shop until you drop (or time runs out).

Dine at a neighborhood favorite along the way. Bring money for lunch and bargains. This trip involves navigating steps and uneven ground. We will be boarding and deboarding the bus several times throughout the day.

Lelooska Kwa'kwaka'wakw Ceremony

Please note this date is tentative. It's our best estimate on a performance date. Sign up with your interest and we will call to enroll you once Lelooska's performance calendar is finalized. Set in the fire-lit replica of a Kwa'kwaka'wakw ceremonial house, the living history performance consists of dramatic narration and dance presentations of traditional Northwest Coast ceremonial masks. The performance is designed to give the audience an understanding of Northwest Coast First Nations culture, as well as a feeling of intimate participation in this living history. The Lelooska Museum located in Ariel, WA, houses an immense collection of artifacts from many regions, a replica fur trade store and a gift shop. Fee includes admission and performance. Bring money for an early dinner.

Columbia River Maritime Museum and Cannery

See the ocean and discover the largest collection of Pacific Northwest maritime artifacts in the country during this private, docent-led tour. Fee includes admission to museum and Lightship Columbia, as well as 3-D movie. We'll visit the Hanthorn Cannery Museum along Pier 39 to learn about the 150 year cannery history of this community. Fee includes all admissions. Bring money for lunch. Please note the Lightship is not accessible to those with limited mobility. Meet at: Matt Dishman Community Center
