That’s why we are publishing this list of things to do. The following pages contain countless ideas to keep everyone in your family entertained. You’ll find plenty of great places to choose from. So, sit back, relax and enjoy our annual edition of the
invested to support community projects such as holiday decorations, a freezer for the soup kitchen, park benches, new trash cans and lights for safety and beautification.
In 1992, YWCA Westfield took on the planning and hosting of the event which is now known as the YWCA Westfield Arts & Crafts Festival.
At that time Linda Dunn who was one of the event’s original organizers said that the event was ready for new leadership and that after 20 successful years, she believed it would continue for 20 more. Last year marked 31 more years, and the YWCA Arts & Crafts Festival is still going strong.
Mark your calendars now so you can plan to make the most of this event. For those attending, parking is available throughout the Village as well as at the Westfield Academy and Central School bus garage with continuous shuttles to the park and back. Proceeds from booth rentals are now used by the YWCA Westfield to support its mission of empowering women and eliminating racism.

20. Northern Chautauqua
Canine Rescue, (NCCR), is a nonprofit, 501(c)3 shelter that helps puppies and dogs find “furever” homes. NCCR is located at 7540 N. Gale St. in Westfield and is open Monday-Saturday from 1-3pm, or by appointment. Many of the available dogs can be seen online at www. caninerescue.org.
NCCR has been helping dogs for 25 years and has adopted out over 2600 dogs and puppies in just the last 10 years alone! There are ALWAYS wonderful dogs just waiting for the right person or family to come meet them. A 4-legged friend might just be the best friend ever. From energetic ball players and
running companions to happy go lucky dog pals to slow and steady couch potatoes, NCCR has them all! The shelter can be reached at adoptions@caninerescue.org or 716326-7297.
NCCR can always use volunteers, foster homes, donations and financial support. Volunteer applications, foster home applications and a donation list can be found online. Foster homes are critical for certain dogs that need a home environment to decompress from their previous life-often a puppy mill. Volunteers are always needed for shifts at the shelter or events in the community. Donations of money or supplies are importtant to help keep the shelter running.
Who doesn’t love a good yard sale?
One of the best fundraisers for the shelter is coming up in Julythe 12th Annual Dog-Gone Good Yard Sale is happening July 26, 27 and 28 from 9am-4pm at the shelter. Donations for the sale will be accepted July 7-July 21 every day from 1-3pm. If you’ve been before, you know there are wonderful items to buy at great prices, and it will be spread out this year into even bigger tents and more space. Watch the website or the Facebook page for any updates. Anything (except clothing, cribs, mattresses, electronics, computers, broken items, books or child seats) that is in good condition, clean and saleable is very much appreciated. The dogs and pups will benefit! Look over the barn, attic, garage, and every room in your house. Get rid of the furniture, jewelry, kitchen items, sporting goods, artwork, linens, knick knacks, etc. etc. etc. you never really likedchances are that someone else will. Know that it is all for a great cause. Then stop by the sale and see what you need to fill in that extra space you made by kindly donating!
When you drop off donations, come see the dogs that you are helping. Maybe you’ll find your next best friend. Pick up a poster for the sale and hang it in your community. Mention the shelter and the dogs and the sale to your friends; perhaps someone is looking for a new companion or has items to donate too. The dogs and volunteers greatly appreciate the community’s support! NYS Registered Rescue #028
