EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH MEEJIE CHAPARRO – TRAVERSO
PGMAG: MEejie, welcome to today’s interview with Lady Anita.
MEejie: Thank you for the invitation. It is a true honor to have been chosen by you Lady Anita to be featured on the cover of your beautiful magazine. I am both grateful and humbled by your gesture.
PGMAG: Please briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
MEejie: I know in the business world we are taught to state our accomplishments when asked to introduce ourselves, as that shares our wins with the world. Yes! I have been most fortunate to make great strides in my consulting, speaking and entertainment ventures. I have had the honor to be recognized locally, nationally and internationally. But the bottom line is that I am a mom who is an entrepreneur. A woman in the second half of her life who wishes to be of impact and service to others. Especially to those who for one reason or another, either willingly or by force, have put their dreams on hold to serve, care for, or support others or the ones they love. I speak of moms and dads. Military spouses, care givers, and all those who have been oppressed in life.
PGMAG: In the last 25 years of your journey as a leader, you have touched many lives through your work. Looking back, what would you say has helped you to stay true to your purpose?
MEejie: There are several things which have helped me stay, or get back on track whenever I stumble. My faith, my children, the love I have for my family, and that incessant nagging voice inside of me (my soul) that dreams of a better life, seeks adventure, triumph, and most importantly, wishes to make a positive sound contribution towards humankind.
PGMAG: We would love to know more about your unique approach (Movement Surrender Approach-MSA).
MEejie: Thank you so very much for asking this question. MSA is an alternate modality for helping deal with stress, anxiety and adverse experiences in childhood or adulthood. It was born from my need to surrender my resistance in dealing with the uncertainties and adversities in my life. It became a way for me to bring together awareness of the resources, tools and capabilities I have been born with. A way to transmute them into a practice that allows me to achieve peace and harmony. So that I can prepare myself for the world. And show up as

the creator of my life rather than a victim of it.
PGMAG: As a coach, mentor and speaker; what are some of the keys to becoming more valuable in the marketplace?
MEejie: Another great question, Lady Anita! Adding value into the marketplace begins with many things. Here are three things I believe are important:
First: Seeing your own worth and owning your value. Meaning, the worth you see from within is the worth you gift others with. The more you believe in yourself, the more you unveil the real you, and the more you preserve that integrity of who you are in

place. What we put forth in life is exactly what we will get. We are energy. Good energy attracts good energy. Negative energy will bare more of the same. So, why not surround ourselves with the best?
Second: Working towards being of service as you make your imprints in the world. This is simply finding a win/win/ win in every effort made. You, them, and the world around you. Because, I truly believe that’s why we have been born.
To commune with each other and make the world a better
Third: Always challenge yourself but don’t forget to celebrate your wins. Know your potential is far beyond that which you can fathom. Know there is no limit to your creativity. That there’s greatness within us. Every day brings new opportunities to learn, break ground, abolish challenges and innovate. To echo the words of a great friend, Dr. Hassan

PGMAG: What is your message for women in general?
MEejie: This is one great question after another. Thank you for asking such meaningful questions Lady Anita. I love working with women because I can obviously relate. My message for women in general would be: Never cease to dream. Always believe in yourself. Ask yourself questions that position you into having power. For instance, If I could live out my dreams…; If I had the power to create my life…; If I had the power to show up in the world exactly as I am…. What would that look like, and how would it feel? Begin there! Find the clarity you need. Feel the emotions you seek. And then take the actions to make those if’s come true. You can do it! Get help if you need to. PGMAG: Finally, what would you say to your younger self?
MEejie: This is quite a deep question. I would definitely say to my younger self, MEejie, you are born in greatness, with greatness, for greatness. Start listening to inner self. Love who you are because you are perfect just the way you have been born. Optimize your God given brain, body, mind and soul because that’s what you’ve been born to do. PGMAG EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH CHRISTINE FREELAND
PGMAG: Christine, welcome to today’s interview with Lady Anita.
CF: It’s is truly my pleasure to be here. Thank you for the invitation.
PGMAG: Please briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
CF: my name is Christine Freeland and my business is Boost Your Brilliance – Leadership in tune with life. My Passion is to create conscious connections with individuals to their innate gifts and passions and connect organizations and businesses to their greater purpose and meaning to inspire creativity and innovation and life affirming practices with their employees for the betterment of all.
PGMAG: In your capacity as a leader, what would you say is preventing others from living their life purposes?
CF: With the constant bombardment of information, through news outlets, social media, internet and email, we have created a societies of hyper busyness, always reacting to the next news feed, post, or work deadline. Never stepping back, being present, and taking the time to recharge, question our thoughts and behaviours. Never taking time to get clarity on what is most important to them. Some don’t
think they deserve this or that it is selfish. Not understanding how important it is to one’s health and well-being. Discovering what is unique and amazing about them based on their life experiences and innate talents. Secondly, we have become separated from the vital connections of the living world – from our hearts and intuition, from nature which we are part of, from forming deep connections both internally and externally with one another, valuing ourselves each, other and the living the world.

You can actually measure where you are at in personal development, leadership development and the where work cultures are at on the evolutionary scale.
Once your needs are met, once you satisfy your personal foundations - am I safe and secure enough, am I loved enough, am I enough?
PGMAG: How would you define EVOLUTION?
CF: Evolution to me is part of the journey of life. It’s continuous learning about ourselves, raising our consciousness awareness of who we are and how we can contribute to the greater whole.
Richard Barrett, founder of Barrett Values Centre and the New Leadership Paradigm, created a framework of seven levels of development based on Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs and levels of consciousness. You can actually measure
where you are at in personal development, leadership development and the where work cultures are at on the evolutionary scale. Once your needs are met, once you satisfy your personal foundationsam I safe and secure enough, am I loved enough, am I enough? The next stage is starting to question your beliefs that served you during this period and transcending (evolving) to new levels and developing into your authentic self, collaborating with like minded individuals and making a difference, in life, work, the world.
PGMAG: What are some of the lessons you learned whilst working with the National Park Service?
CF: I learned what effective leadership looks like – which is lifting up, valuing and developing others, creating the conditions for them to thrive and the positive effects it has on an organization and employee morale. I also have a good picture about degenerative leadership practices which are mindsets of treating employees like
they are cogs in a machine, expecting them to do their job in environments where there is little to no interaction with leadership, no communication or feedback loops from employee to leadership and leadership to employee, piling on work and just expecting it to get done. In actions that devalue employee as human beings, not recognizing they are the rich soil that needs to be nurtured. This creates a hyper competitive environments, increases workplace conflicts, and erodes trust.
PGMAG: What is your message for world leaders?
CF: To me it’s simple. I don’t mean easy. If all leaders focus on creating the conditions for life to thrive for every human being on the planet and for all life on the planet, re-establish the human connections between the living field of life, this will bring about a future where everyone can thrive.
View all inititaves and actions with the lens “is it life affirming” to all?

I share tools and techniques to achieve clarity, focus and well-being, reconnecting to the heart, emotions, and intuition that empowers leaders and allows them to live who they truly are and make a positive impact in the world.
PGMAG: 2023 is just around the corner, in your capacity as someone who has transited from one career to another, what is your message for those who are thinking of career change?

MAKING FEAR YOUR FRIEND RATHER THAN YOUR FOE
CAROLINE RIBEIRO-NELSON
FACING CRISIS AND RISING TO THE CHALLENGE
Far before the outbreak of the Covid-19 Pandemic, our personal, work and environmental spheres have been in a state of perpetual change and challenge, driven primarily by the expanse of industrialisation, globalisation and digitalization. We have
borne witness to how the Covid-19 crisis stopped us in our tracks and caught us short. This exposed our human vulnerability, as well as evoked greater awareness around our life fulfilment.
When confronted with a direct or potentially serious threat to our life, liberty, safety or well-being, our fight-or- flight response is triggered. Our
fear and the associated stress, anxiety, and shock, which we experience is extremely disturbing and can potentially overwhelm our ability to cope. This trauma can be physically, emotionally, or psychologically detrimental, as well as highly disruptive to our daily functioning.
TEMPERING HUMAN LOSS AND FEAR
OCT-NOV 2022 # ISSUE 4014 www.powerhouseglobalmag.com
HEALTH & WELLNESS
Fear is strongly evoked when we face or perceive loss. Loss of life, freedom or choice, our contact, connection or relationship with others, livelihood, possibility of work or employment, travel, housing or shelter, movement and our financial or social status. All of which we have been continually confronted and continue to face. The impact has been profound on our mental health and well-being. During such times it is important to respond in ways, which enhance our perspective, possibilities and enable us to cope.
Fortunately, there are several useful perspectives for dealing with the fear we experience. learning to recognise, understand and regulate our responses can be highly beneficial in managing our health, choices, and growth. Making Fear Work For us Rather than Against us Situations, which involve a strong threat and mass changes are often accompanied by fears and anxiety. This is to be expected, at the same time however, such changes along with a heightened level of
When confronted with a direct or potentially serious threat to our life, liberty, safety or well-being, our fightor- flight response is triggered. Our fear and the associated stress, anxiety, and shock, which we experience is extremely disturbing and can potentially overwhelm our ability
awareness can offer a huge opportunity to re-assess our values, needs and goals. It also provides us with a chance to adapt and make future improvements.
We strongly recognise that; on the one hand, many aspects of a threat, uncertainty and change frankly scare us. We fear, for example, the end of the familiar, loss of control, not belonging or lack of connection and support. On the other hand, we gain new possibilities in which:
• Remote and mobile practices become an integral part of our jobs, offers us a chance to
develop and adopt to innovative and more flexible working models.
• We extend trust and accountability to those responsible in their position. Enhancing confidence, a clearer sense of control and creativity.
• We foster greater adaptability in how people manage their time, work and personal commitments. Supporting opportunities for healthy work-life balance
• Fear of loss and change then become an impetus for constructive development and new possibilities.
HOW FEAR AFFECTS US
When it comes to the effects of our emotions diverse and strong emotions are an absolute natural and healthy part of our lives. However, experiencing powerful emotions, such as fear over a persistent and extensive time period can become a serious issue, which can lead to physical and mental health difficulties. When this happens, it is important to react and seek appropriate support.
www.powerhouseglobalmag.com OCT-NOV 2022 # ISSUE 40 15
HEALTH & WELLNESS
In a positive sense, fear serves as a warning sign. It warns us of situations, which present a real or perceived threat to our life or to factors that may overwhelm us. In such situations, it makes sense to take this warning signal seriously and accept that we need to react accordingly. Throughout our life journey we meet many experiences, which can evoke fear, in our daily life, fears can be triggered, for example, by the end of a significant relationship, conflicts with family, friends or colleagues, by unfamiliar circumstances or facing situations we have learnt to fear. Every one of us is afraid of something and knows this feeling well. For some, fears are less pronounced in daily life; for others they can be a strong and persistent problem. We can be encouraged in the fact, that recognising and reacting constructively, to manage our fear, promotes better mental health and coping strategies.
WHAT WE CAN DO
Although fear is a powerful and unpleasant emotion, driven by instinct, we know
that it is essential to our survival and presents a strong motivation for change. We can learn to master it, for it to work for us rather than against us. Consistently developing constructive ways to react through building our understanding and awareness of our fear, recognising the signs and reacting in a more conscious way.
Our fear is deeply influenced by our perception and reactions to it. For positive and healthy growth, we can choose to conceive fear as a sign and force for learning, adaption, and growth rather than something, which is always bad, to be avoided or to escape.
• We can realistically choose to perceive things as challenges rather than as threats or problems: When presented with a threat or problem focus on finding a way forward and attaining a clear goal. Having a constructive view on the present situation and working towards a specific outcome, enables us to positively draw on all our resources, to get us to where we need to be.
• Consistently work to cultivate a constructive mindset: Exposing ourselves to positive internal and external messages can help build confidence and counter our negative bias, supporting a more productive outlook.
• Setting realistic expectations: We can gain greater clarity through reflection on the expectations set by ourselves and others. Examine how realistic these are and adjust them according. Identify manageable steps in meeting expectations. This helps to limit disappointment and stress, as well as enabling us to achieve our goals more easily
MASTERING OUR FEAR
We can master our fear “Fear is our natural warning system (Fight-or-Flight Response), which serves to preserve our survival and to recognise and react to dangers. This gives us the possibility not only to escape or eliminate these dangers, but also to build our

mental and physical resources through reacting in a more conscious rather than an instinctual way.
• Engaging regularly in reflection, meditation and mindfulness has been found to help us gain clarity, calmness, reduce states of anxiety and stress. This can support us to regulate our emotional, cognitive and physical reactions. When fear situations arise, we are then better placed to react more effectively.
• Establish Good Sleep Habits: Sleep is essential for our overall physical and mental health and wellbeing. Good sleep helps to build our resilience in dealing with fear, stress and anxiety.
with engaging in actions to reduce triggers, anxiety and stress can be highly beneficial. Activities such as sport, exercise, taking breaks, healthy eating habits, hobbies, having fun, meditation, reading, dance and listening to music, can help us relax and lift mood maintaining better health.
We should not underestimate how much the threat and difficulties, we face can impact us.
Fear also signifies situations, in which we are faced with something unknown, or presents us with a challenge or with high demands. We are then given the opportunity to consciously utilise our experience and resources. It can also allow us the time to explore things further and to prepare, putting us in a better place to react constructively. The more we consciously reflect on, assess and understand our feelings and reactions to fear, the more we are able to make productive choices, as well as strengthen our mental resilience.
• Connect, Share and Seek Support: Our fears can fester and build, to the point that they can become disruptive or overwhelming. Connecting and sharing our experience can be a great relief. This enables us to gain reassurance, perspective, companionship, understanding and support, assisting us to better deal with our situation and feelings.
• Engage regularly in selfcare: Monitoring our fear responses and the impact on our mental health, along

ROSS SWAN’S LEADERSHIP CORNER
LEADING IN ANY ENVIRONMENT
Being able to lead in any environment is the key to strong leadership. What underpins this, is not to allow yourself to be a reflection of a challenging environment, but a reflection of your inner self. That is, to draw on your inner strengths and belief in your purpose, thus fuelling your belief in your abilities. This creates a positivism within you and therefore enabling you to see your objectives far more clearly. A challenging environment is when you see the strong leaders stand up and be noticed. The Covid 19 situation is a perfect example. The key is not to allow all the outside noise and negative energy influence you. Sure, you need to take it into account for context to manage day to day operations, but it should not consume you and steal your energy.
Your inner self is not influenced by outside data, it’s a constant. Strong leaders influence the people surrounding them to be a reflection of their thoughts and actions. They want people to be tuning into their energy and not what’s happening around them. From the leader’s strength, comes the focus, and maintaining the teams focus is key.
When things are running smoothly, and customers are buying, most managers can use the momentum and go with the flow. Whilst good leaders still rise above the pack in this
scenario, they rise substantially further when things are tough as going with the flow is not the desirable option.
As a leader, your actions, and reactions, create your team’s actions, or lack thereof. How you want them to behave, should be a reflection of your behaviour. To quote the well documented phrase, “walking your talk.” Maintaining focus on the end game is what is needed. For the team to maintain their eye on the end game, the leader needs to do first.

ROSS SWAN BUSINESS & LEADERSHIP
Sure, as a leader you need to acknowledge what challenges are going on, but its critical to mentally move past that and take your team with you.
So, to lead effectively in any environment, it’s not allowing your thoughts to be obscured by the negative environment, it is directing your energy into looking ahead with a clear mind and focus.

COVID-19 PROJECTS
As part of PGWF mission to support more families during this challenged time, we have been able to hold two projects (one in April and the other on 13th July 2020). We distributed food supplies to several families and orphanage homes.
Our team lead by Mrs Josephine Itsuokor (Vice-president of PGWF) made these projects a success. We will continue to reach out to more families through the support of our global partners.

Powerful Global Women Foundation (Powerhouse Charity) was founded in 20l6 in Nigeria, West Africa, by Lady Anita Duckworth-Bradshaw. The core objective of this organization is to transform the lives of women and children, through various projects centred around the need of the service group.
In 20l6 Lady Anita single handedly fed over 400 children as part of “project feed l000 children globally”, and held an empowerment conference for the women. Through this project, so many women have gone to do great things with the knowledge they gained from the event.
She recently held a life transforming event for women in Lagos, Nigeria as part of International women’s month celebration 20l8. The turnout was very encouraging. She is working towards supporting more families to keep their children and wards in school through” project back-to-school” starting in September 20l8.
We are seeking for global support from individuals and organisations who would love to be a part of this service to humanity.
