WHY CAMP SHADY BROOK? Since 1948, YMCA Camp Shady Brook (CSB) has hosted thousands of campers in our beautiful Rocky Mountain setting. We pride ourselves on offering one of the best traditional, values-based camp experiences in the country. Parents and campers alike treasure the camp experience that promotes community, values and personal growth in a natural setting away from the bustle of technology and everyday stressors. This summer start a tradition of Camp Shady Brook in your family, or come back to the place you call home!

VALUES-BASED PROGRAMMING At camp we believe that we provide much more than just a fun recreational experience. Through activities, staff role models and daily conversations, campers learn about and practice our four core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. Every program is designed around these values. We believe that you will notice your child’s growth in his/her understanding and use of these values after his/her time at camp.
CABIN LIFE There is nothing more central to the camp experience than cabin life for our campers. Campers are grouped by age and gender with two counselors. In the cabin our campers learn to live together as part of a community. In this small group, campers foster self-awareness, communication skills, trust and problem-solving abilities. Our cabins range from lodges with bathrooms attached, to cabins to tent-platforms. Call our office today to learn more about our facilities or to schedule a camp tour.
“Your facilities are great, and, of course, the dining hall is awesome!” — CSB Camper
WHAT WILL MY CAMPER EAT? Campers enjoy three nutritious meals each day. CSB and the YMCA strive to provide a healthy balance and variety of foods, including vegetarian options. Special diets, allergies or other medical needs may typically be accommodated with advance notice to the chef.

WHAT WILL MY CAMPER DO IN A TYPICAL DAY? A day at camp is filled with adventure, friends, the great outdoors, and fun! Each morning, the cabin group will enjoy a hearty breakfast together, tidy the cabin and then attend “Morning Message,” where we will talk about one of the four core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. The rest of the morning is filled with a schedule of activities selected by the camper or predetermined by their specialty camp. Everyone at camp will reconvene at lunchtime for songs and a tasty meal. During the hottest part of the day, campers will have a rest period back in the cabin. During this time, campers may enjoy the small family
atmosphere of the cabin, play cards, write letters, read, or sleep. In the afternoon, campers will go to the waterfront for swimming and boating, visit the camp store, and participate in activities with their cabin group. Following dinner, campers will gather for camp-wide evening activities, games and campfires. Each cabin wraps up the day with “Embers”, a time for reflection as a cabin group.
