FOR A BETTER COMMUNITY. FOR A BETTER US. As a nonprofit organization, the Y is a cause for strengthening community. We work every day to ensure that you, your family and our community have the resources and support to learn, grow and thrive.
OUR MISSION
To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
OUR VALUES
With a focus on developing the potential of kids, improving individual health and well-being, and giving back and supporting our neighbors, your membership will bring about meaningful change not just within yourself, but in your community too.
A MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO We want you to know we are here for you and though we are all on an individual journey, there is support all around us within the Y. This support comes in the form of Y staff, volunteers, other members or parents of youth participating in Y programs. When we all come together, help our fellow neighbors Boyd Williams and push ourselves to be the best we President & CEO can be, great things happen. That is the power of the Y community, and something that has kept me connected for more than 22 years. As summer comes to a close and school starts again, it’s time to settle back into our usual routines. Kids are excited to meet up with old friends and make new friends, and parents need safe and affordable before and after school care for their children.
Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
OUR CAUSE
We believe that to bring about meaningful change in individuals and communities, we must be focused and accountable. We measure the success of our cause by how well we engage communities in our three areas of focus: Youth Development: Nurturing the potential of every child and teen. Healthy Living: Improving the nation’s health and well-being. Social Responsibility: Giving back and providing support to our neighbors.
We want you to join our family and feel the power of the Y community. The Y is the place to help your family find balance of spirit, mind and body. Take a look at all we have to offer you’ll find the Y has something for the entire family!

SWIM Swim Team
YMCA Swim Team promotes youth development through fun competition, sportsmanship and stroke development. Our goal is to provide youth with the best environment to improve their swimming skills, build self-confidence and achieve success.
Teen & Adult Swim Lessons
For teens and adults just learning to swim or wanting to build on existing skills, this program gives swimmers of all ability levels the opportunity to receive instruction tailored to their specific needs. Lessons are also good for individuals who are uncomfortable in the water or know little swimming technique. The class focuses on water adjustment and basic strokes.
Water Aerobics The Y offers a variety of waterbased group exercise classes for all abilities, including Total Fitness, Aqua Jog, H2O Combo, Getting in Deep, Aqua Jive, Hi-Lo and Arthritis Foundation and Gentle Aqua for Arthritis and Rehabilitation for active adults 55 and older.
Swim Guidelines The Y wants to provide families more options to be together, have fun, stay healthy and be safe. The new guidelines will improve pool safety and provide additional access to our facilities so that youth can learn the importance of incorporating exercise into their daily lives. Each child will now have their own personal swim band.

Youth Swim Lessons & Programs Y Swim Lesson curriculum is based on a continuum that focuses on a skill-based progression that builds confidence and supports swimming skills. There are three phases. Each phase is broken into specific stages that are designed specifically for that age group based on cognitive and social ability.
Swim Starters
Swim Basics
Swim Strokes
Close supervision is the best way to prevent drowning. Parents and caregivers will learn how to supervise children in the water, how to prevent accidents and plan for emergencies. This program also promotes water enrichment and aquatic readiness for children aged six months to three years.
Designed for preschool and elementary school children, a foundation of water safety and drowning prevention is made by teaching water adjustment and skill readiness for children from three to twelve years of age.
After fundamentals are mastered, children begin to learn personal water safety, character development and build competitive stroke technique.
children 6-36 months
Stage A - Water Discovery Parents accompany children in this class which introduces babies to the aquatic environment through exploration that encourages them to enjoy themselves while learning about the water.
Stage B - Water Exploration Parents are guided to work with their child to explore body positions, floating, blowing bubbles, fundamental safety and aquatic skills.
Swim lessons are offered each month so you can pick a time that’s right for you!
children ages 3-12
Stage 1 - Water Acclimation Swimmers are introduced to the pool and develop safe water habits in a fun environment. Children develop comfort with underwater exploration and learn to safely exit in the event of falling into a body of water. This stage builds the foundation for the child’s future progress in swimming.
Stage 2 - Water Movement Children are taught skills that focus on body position and control, forward movement and directional change. This stage also reinforces how to safely exit in the event of falling into a body of water.
Stage 3 - Water Stamina Children focus on swimming longer distances and are introduced to rotary breathing and integrated arm and leg action. In the event of falling into a body of water, children learn how to swim, move to safety and exit.
children 5-12 years
Stage 4 - Stroke Introduction Swimmers focus developing basic swimming strokes and personal water safety. Goals include: • Develop the frontcrawl and backcrawl strokes • Introduce components of the breaststroke and butterfly strokes • Practice safety in deep water
Stage 5 - Stroke Development Students continue to work on their stroke technique and all major competitive strokes are introduced. Goals include: • Develop stamina in the frontcrawl and backcrawl strokes • Develop the breaststroke and butterfly strokes • Build endurance techniques for deep water safety
Stage 6 - Stroke Mechanics Students refine their stroke technique on all of the major strokes and learn about competitive swimming. Goals include: • Develop endurance in the competitive strokes • Develop skills related to competitive swimming like racing starts and flip turns • Enhance skills and build endurance in deep water
