Michael Dennison is a gifted vocalist, organist and pianist. While playing piano, Michael sings a variety of songs in his beautiful bass voice. OES presents Eric Kearns, Impressionist: Voices of Legends

Members of the Order of the Eastern Star would like to invite all residents to attend an afternoon of entertainment and refreshments. Eric Kearns delivers more than 40 artists and their hit songs in a fast-paced, hour-long performance. Hear the hit songs as they were originally recorded by famous singers, including: Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Neil Diamond, Tom Jones, Dean Martin, Johnny Mathis, Rod Stewart, Barry Manilow, Louis Armstrong and so many more. You will be amazed by what you hear in this high-energy, one-man concert.

Valentine’s Day may be past and Easter still on the horizon, but we are ready for making merry with music. We invite you to enjoy an afternoon of seasonal music to cheer a soul weary of winter, with a repertoire that takes you from songs of love into melodies celebrating the Irish, to tunes which inspire and foretell the spring to come. Enjoy songs that bring back memories, familiar melodies which set your toes a tappin’ and hymns and ballads to listen to or sing along with — all are sure to herald an early feeling of spring!

The Masonic Village Pet Club is hosting talented local artist Loryn Spangler-Jones, who has a unique method of using non-toxic paints to add your pet’s pawprint to her artwork. Irish Folk Traditions

FRIDAY, MARCH 10, 2 P.M.

Keystone Room

Ireland has a rich tradition of tales that warmed its long winter nights: haunting fairy tales, delightful leprechaun tales, amusing and educational wonder tales and heartfelt ancient myths. Storyteller Dennis Strain samples each tradition, in anticipation of St. Patrick’s Day. This program will be repeated on Tuesday, March 14, at 2 p.m., in the GLH Solarium.

Seasons Family March Spring Celtic Concert

Seasons is a family band showcasing traditional Celtic music at its best. The sibling group features impressive songwriting skills, beautiful lyrics and unique arrangements of their own compositions, while keeping traditional Celtic music alive and performing it on very traditional instruments. They are an award-winning family band and recording artists who entertain at many local venues and weddings, as well as the Renaissance Faire. They have also been regular favorites here at Masonic Village for many years now. Call ext. 33205 for transportation to this event.

Glenn Miller, One-Man Band

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 15, 2 P.M.

Keystone Room

Named after the famous big band leader, Glenn started performing at the age of 10. At 16, he was leading his own dance band and was a featured trumpet soloist for concerts. Today, he schedules well over 350 shows each year. The arsenal of instruments Glenn plays includes custom accordions, trumpets, harmonicas, trombone, flugelhorn and more! Glenn’s unique blend of music and comedy is sure to entertain.

Get your toes tapping and your Irish eyes smiling with the O’Henrys Trio. Henry Koretzky, Mike Henry and Ken Gehret will entertain you with Irish and Celtic music. Critically acclaimed and award-winning folk musician Jay Smar returns to entertain us. Armed with two guitars, baritone vocals, a claw-hammer banjo and fiddle, Jay serves his audience an “acoustic buffet” with a side of flat-footin’ (a form of clog-dancing). His performance will feature familiar Irish singa-longs and more “traditional” Irish music of the motherland with mandolin and other instruments.

Spartan World Championships with Mailman Mychail Mitchell

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 22, 2 P.M.

The Spartan Race is a series of obstacle races of varying distance and difficulty, ranging from three miles to marathon distances. The first weekend of November each year, the Trifecta World Championships take place in Sparta, Greece. Laid among the mountains and ancient olive groves, this race is one of the most grueling in the world. Masonic Village’s mailman, Mychail, will discuss his personal experience at the 2022 race.

Solomon Eichner, Pianist

Originally from Baltimore, Solomon Eichner graduated with his Bachelor of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music, having studied with Arkady Aronov, and Master of Music degree from the Peabody Conservatory, having studied with Alexander Shtarkman. Equally at home with solo, chamber and concerto performances, Solomon has established himself as an exciting versatile young artist. He is known for his commanding performances of the romantic keyboard repertoire. When not concertizing, Solomon maintains a faculty position at the North Carolina Chamber Music Institute.

Abandoned as a girl, Kya raised herself in the dangerous marshlands of North Carolina. For years, rumors of the marsh girl haunted Barkley Cove, isolating the sharp and resilient Kya from her own community. Drawn to two young men from town, she opens herself to a new and startling world. However, when one of them is found dead, Kya immediately becomes the main suspect. As the case unfolds, the verdict as to what happened becomes increasingly unclear, threatening many secrets. Double Play Flute and Tuba celebrates it’s 34th season in 2023-24; as the world’s only full-time professional flute and tuba duo, their repertoire spans 300 years of musical history. Founded in Arizona and now based in Michigan, this husband and wife team has entertained and “informed” audiences of all ages in 45 states. They will present “Tunes for Two” featuring some their favorite arrangements from the world of opera, Broadway, and instrumental music.

Located in the Freemasons Cultural Center, the Baird Wellness Center offers an array of cardiovascular and strength equipment, functional training, personal training and group fitness classes. Massage therapy and wellness workshops on mind, body and spirit are also offered.

Open daily, from 5 a.m. – 9 p.m. Staff are available Mon. – Fri., 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. Group exercise classes are broadcast on MVTV Monday through Friday, in the morning.

Please pay and purchase punch cards at the Baird Wellness Center. Punch cards are a way to pay as you attend classes. You will receive the option of attending 10 classes per punch card, and punch cards are available for $35 each. For questions, call 717-361-5699.

2023 LANCASTER SENIOR GAMES

Since starting in 1989, thousands of athletes have participated in the Lancaster Senior Games, and we want to add you to that list! At the games, Lancaster County residents, ages 55 and over, participate in a variety of sporting events and recreation activities, competing for medals within various age brackets.

The 2023 Senior Games will be held May 1 – 5 at Spooky Nook Sports. Registration will be held March 4 – April 8. You can pick up a registration form at the Clubhouse Information Desk or the GLH Transportation Desk. Please return the registration form and fee to the Activities Office by April 8 (checks payable to “Lancaster Area Office of Aging”).

Donegal High School Presents “Once Upon a Mattress”

In this musical version of “The Princess and the Pea,” Princess Winnifred is an ungainly, brash girl competing for the hand of Prince Dauntless, whose domineering mother, Queen Aggravain, has declared he must marry a “true” princess before anyone else in the kingdom can marry. Since its founding in 1997, the Mendelssohn Piano Trio has performed over 500 concerts in the U.S., Europe and Asia. The Trio’s extensive repertoire of over 100 works embraces music from all periods of the genre’s history. Pianist Ya-Ting Chang is from Taiwan, violinist Peter Sirotin is from Ukraine and cellist Fiona Thompson is from England. Elaine Rice Bachman, author and historian, will discuss the unique collaboration of Jacqueline Kennedy’s and Henry F. du Pont related to establishing the Fine Arts Committee for the restoration of the White House, the creation of the White House Historical Association and launching a national historic preservation movement. She will cover Kennedy and du Pont’s legacies in contemporary historic preservation and the ethics of cultural heritage in the restoration of the White House and contemporary historic preservation initiatives. This event will be held at the Bucher Meetinghouse, associated with the Young Center for Anabaptist and Pietist Studies. The event will start at 3 p.m. with a guided tour of the Bowers Interpretative Gallery. At 3:30 p.m., a reception with light refreshments and book signing will precede the presentation. Jean-Paul Benowitz, director of Prestigious Scholarships and Public Heritage Studies, will introduce the speaker and moderate post-presentation discussion with the audience. “What Love is This?” is a dramatic musical portrayal of the greatest love ever displayed through God’s son, Jesus. He came that we may have life. For many, this is a great mystery. But for those who believe in him, this expression of love means hope, joy and eternal life. In this year’s Easter celebration, you will get a glimpse into the life of a Jewish family, the House of Ephraim, a family who faces the same types of triumphs and challenges that many of us face today. With beautiful music, sets, costumes and live animals, you will experience what it may have been like to live, work or raise a family in the days when Jesus walked the earth. Watch how this family’s story unfolds, and how a powerful expression of love changes their lives forever. The production is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Christian Life Assembly in Camp Hill.

Profiles in Music: Lancers Drum and Bugle Corps Showcase

The Lancers Drum and Bugle Corps, from Hanover, is hosting its 10th Annual Profiles in Music, “A Drum and Bugle Corps Showcase.” The show will consist of the finest Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps from the East Coast, along with some other exciting music groups, each performing a 20-minute concert. You won’t want to miss this exciting show. This event has sold out each of its previous nine performances. The concert is scheduled from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the Pullo Center in York.
