Guild Hall

WHAT’S ON June 2015 - Oct 2015

It is a great pleasure to welcome you on behalf of all the staff here at Preston Guild Hall to another fantastic season of shows and events. As we head into the Summer/Autumn season, we’re sure you won’t be disappointed with comedy, music, drama, children shows and musicals, as well as sport and special events to keep you entertained. New season highlights include music from the likes of Jools Holland & His Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, Bob Geldof, Midge Ure and an array of wonderful acts in David Gest’s (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life Tour! We’re proud to welcome Avenue Q to Preston for the very first time as it storms the stage with a musical like no other. Following five years in the West End, sell-out runs worldwide and a smash hit tour in 2014 (packed with mischief, bad behaviour and political incorrectness) this hugely entertaining show is part flesh, part felt and packed with heart. Our Frog & Bucket Comedy Nights have become a well-established and firm favourite in our comedy calendar but the laughter won’t stop there as we have a fabulous line-up of award winning comedians taking you through to 2016 including Jim Davidson, Dave Spikey, Milton Jones, Alan Davis and Paddy McGuiness to name a few. We’re especially excited about this year’s Christmas pantomime Sleeping Beauty as Guild Promotions, in association with Preston Guild Hall, have brought the production back in house. Starring Jacqueline Leonard (Coronation St/ Eastenders), Archie Kelly (Phoenix Nights/Phoenix Night Live) and comedy favourite Phil Walker, it’s the perfect festive family treat. Be sure to join us on Facebook and Twitter for all the latest panto gossip, backstage footage and sneak peeks! We hope by now you’ve visited Mundo Tapas, our onsite restaurant offering the finest in tapas cuisine from around the globe. We’re happy to announce that you can now reserve your table online at www.mundotapas.co.uk where you can also find the full menu. Meal vouchers for Mundo Tapas can now be purchased online when booking your show tickets so why not make a night of it? It’s been a tremendous first season for us all and we hope you’ve enjoyed some of the spectacular events over the past few months. We’d like to thank you for your support so far and look forward to welcoming you back shortly.

MIDGE URE

AND INDIA ELECTRIC CO

Breathe Again In 1995, Midge delivered his fourth solo album, Breathe, to BMG just 10 years after the phenomenal successes of Band Aid and Live Aid. Always one to ring the changes, this album had a very Celtic feel with a plethora of acoustic instruments from uilleann pipes to mandolins and accordions alongside Midge’s trademark soaring electric guitar riffs. After the successful reformation of Ultravox in 2009, Midge feels it’s time to revisit his Celtic roots, and will perform Breathe in its entirety for the first time in 2015. Ably accompanied by the two musicians from India Electric Co, recreating the nature of the album. Of course, he will also play a selection of his other hits like Vienna, Dancing with Tears in My Eyes, Fade to Grey and If I Was, as well as songs from his recently released album Fragile, which was Radio 2 playlisted - it’s what audiences, quite rightly, expect.....

Wehn has been performing as the self-styled ‘German Comedy Ambassador’ ever since.
