WELCOME Welcome to Pride Glasgow 2017 Festival Guide. This year’s festival plans to build on the success of recent years and is the result of months of planning and hard work from a dedicated team who are focused on making Pride Glasgow one of the must attend prides in the country. Pride Glasgow 2017 looks to celebrate LGBTI families, We are working with Scottish Adoption and GCRM this year to promote fostering and adoption alongside fertility treatments. This year’s festival takes place on August 19th and 20th and starts at 12pm on Saturday and 1pm on the Sunday Tickets for this year’s festival cost £12 for the Weekend (Rising to £15 over the weekend) or £8 for Day tickets (Rising to £10 over the weekend) and are currently available online and from G1 venues. PARADE The Parade takes place on Saturday 19th August with 87 registered floats and walking groups this year’s parade is set to be the biggest yet!

Route

Individuals are able to take part in the parade free of charge and no need to register, walking groups and floats require to register and a charge applies to certain categories however the deadline for registration has now passed.

The parade will leave Glasgow Green onto Greendyke St, Saltmarket, Trongate, Albion St, Ingram St, South Frederick St, George Sq, St Vincent Pl, St Vincent St, Renfield St, Union St, Jamaica St, Clyde St, Bridgegate, Steel St, Turnbull St, Greendyke St, Glasgow Green.

The Parade leaves Glasgow Green at 12pm (Assemble between 11am and 11.45am) on Saturday 19th August.


THEME This years Pride Glasgow Parade and Festival theme will have a focus on LGBTI families and those of us who are brave everyday.

and everyone should be given the opportunity to have a family life without discrimination or persecution.

We acknowledge the importance of families whether biological or for those of us who have created wonderful families made up of friends and other loved ones. Whatever your family might be, we want you to join in the celebration and acknowledge everyone who is #BraveEveryday

ACCESSIBILITY We have been working hard this year to improve the accessibility of the festival and have implemented a multi year approach to doing this. This year the festival’s accessibility will greatly improve including the following: Access Team – The team responsible for delivering on our accessibility, they can be contacted on access@pride. scot Quiet Hour – Join us from 1pm to 2pm on the Sunday for Quiet Hour, a time when all music and lights will be turned off Blue Badge Parking – This is

WRISTBANDS To access the festival site you are required to exchange your ticket for a wristband. This can be done during Pride Weekend from the on site exchange point (note this closes at 8pm on Saturday and 6pm on Sunday) or on the week leading up to Pride at 2 city centre venues:

COMMUNITY EXPO Our community expo acts as an information hub for organisations, community groups and companies that are providing activities, information and services to the LGBTI community. This year we have over 70 stalls registered including Scottish Adoption, GCRM, Foster Care Associates, Mermaids, CHAS, Stonewall, LGBT Health and Wellbeing, Bupa, Glasgow Life and many more Make sure you visit on both days as all be it the majority of stalls are the same over the weekend there is some different ones each day.

PRIDE MARKET The Pride Market is the home of our trading stalls including Pride favourites Shrinking Violet Designs to Candles and everything else you can imagine. The pride market also plays home to the Pride Merchandise stall where you can pick up a range of Pride branded items.

MAIN STAGE SATURDAY

Hosted by Reba Martell and Scott Agnew, the main stage on day 1 promises lots of laughter as well as our incredible acts! Saturday will see a host of performers take to the stage including local acts sambayabama, steptastics, The winner of Pride Idol, Reigns, Drag Sensation Mary Mac alongside headliners, Collabro, Kelly Llorenna and GBX A full running order for Saturday will be available on the festival website the week before the event at http://festival.pride.scot


MAIN STAGE SUNDAY

Hosted by Bella Houston and Grant Thomson, the main stage on day 2 promises to be packed full of entertainment! Sunday will see a host of performers take to the stage including our Buchanan Street Busker Set, Little Mix Magic, Colby Reid, Abba Tribute and our headliners, Saara Aalto, B*witched and Formerly Bucks Fizz A full running order for Sunday will be available on the festival website the week before the event at http://festival.pride.scot



FAMILY ZONE The Family area returns this year in a new location near to the main stage and will offer a wide range of children’s activities from a bouncy castle to arts and crafts. The exotic animal attraction will be returning over the two days to the event where you can see and hold snakes, spiders and all sorts of other animals. The family zone will also host a baby wellbeing area featuring changing facilities, breastfeeding space and bottle warming facilities alongside highchairs.

The ever popular Youth Space returns to the Green this year as part of the event, supported by Glasgow Life.

All you doggy lovers are in for a treat again as our Dog Show returns for the 3rd year. It proves very popular each year and this year will be over Saturday.once again the Dog Show is supported by Dog’s Trust.

The safe space for under 25s, will have plenty of fun and activities on the Saturday to suit our young people’s needs. Entry to youth space is via the main site so a wristband must be purchased.
