Campaign with Pride & TIE! Every year we use the parade to highlight an important issue still facing the LGBTI community either in Scotland, UK or Worldwide. This year we have partnered up with the Time for Inclusive (TIE) Campaign to ensure that all schools in Scotland are offering an LGBTI+ Inclusive Education less of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Section 28 was repealed fifteen years ago, yet many of our schools are still not teaching about topics and issues relating to the LGBTI+ community. LGBTI-phobia remains a massive issue in our schools, and we believe that this can only be addressed with a widespread commitment to tackle this; from a legislative level, and right down to the schools and teachers themselves.

Currently, individual institutions can choose not to acknowledge the LGBTI+ community, and their contributions to society, within their school environment and learning programme. By refusing to acknowledge or teach LGBTI+ issues, what such institutions are essentially doing is candidly ostracising LGBTI+ pupils. All children deserve to grow up in an environment free from prejudice and discrimination; to be loved, valued and cared for regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. TIE will continue to campaign until we live in a society where we are no longer required.
