What professional accomplishment are you most proud of?

My client had a complicated fire loss. Working with our claims team, I was able to interpret policy language and explain to the property engineer and adjustor the reasons that landscaping invoices should be applied to Ordinance and Law coverage. We make a promise to our clients to be here when something bad happens, and having the coverage written correctly is a great accomplishment –not to mention the appreciation from your client!

What words of wisdom would you offer young women just beginning their insurance careers?

You are the future of our industry and must be willing to push outside your comfort zone, ask questions, sit in the front row, and engage executive management, as they are a wealth of knowledge and appreciate sharing their experiences. Underwriter relationships are important, especially in difficult times; let them know you value them. Be inquisitive with clients and prospects; they appreciate when we are willing to listen and learn about their industry.
