Instrument Drawing
Instrument Drawing, 2019, 24”x36”, Graphite on Vellum
2019 In-Class, Group Project Course - Princeton ArcPrep Faculty - Katie Zaeh My role in the group was to measure each part of the instrument and pass them to my group members. The whole point was to figure out how an instrument is put together and to be able to understand and explain how it makes sound. We measured the instrument, drew it to scale, and we drew a detail of one part of it. We all made our own drawings. I understood how the instrument made sound through this project. I saw how big each part really was and how it being a different size could affect it. Instrument Drawing, 2019, 24”x36”, Graphite on Vellum

Soundscape Project 4
2019 In-Class, Individual Project Course - Princeton ArcPrep Faculty - Katie Zaeh
Soundscape Collage, 2019, Trace paper, scissors, and color pencils.
Our intent was to choose a song and help represent and understand the sound waves in physical form. We chose a song (I chose SpongeBob song because I loved the show and their songs), listened to it and judged how the volume, pitch, and spacing between the lyrics were. After judging those, I had to cut out the parts for it and then represent it in 3d. I had a good time making it when I knew what I wanted to do. I was not happy with how it came out, it could’ve been more appealing, and wish I had used different materials. Soundscape Model, 2019, 10”x10”x3”, Cardboard, Balsa, and White Museum Board.

Listening Booth 2019 In-Class, Individual Project Course - Princeton ArcPrep Faculty - Katie Zaeh I decided to take a part of my model and use it to make a design for a room in which you would be able to enter, relax, enjoy music, and then leave. I created 3 sketches for it, chose one, drew the design, and then presented it to a partner to see if there was anything I wanted to or should change. My final drawing was 1/4” to 1’ scale. At first when I chose out of my three sketches and presented it to my partner, I did not like it. So I decided to create a new design and while it made me fall behind a bit, I ended up liking my new design. Listening Booth Sketches, 2019, Pencil.

City of Octavia Collage 2019 In-Class, Group Project Course - Princeton ArcPrep Faculty - Katie Zaeh I used a cutting board and a knife to cut out the shapes and sizes. The lines on the designs on the papers I used helped me cut the shape of each thing. I also used glue to put them on my collage and used a knife to cut holes into it. My role was to brainstorm ideas with my group about the design each of us could have but, we still made 3 different designs. One for each of us.

Gaming Hard Hat 2019 In class, Individual Project I made a hard hat to express my love for video games and my connection with them. Video Games have changed how I am. My project tells you what games I play, what consoles I’ve played on, and how they affect my mood. The colors represent the consoles but as well as my emotions red for anger, blue for sadness, and green for a calm state. I’ve had all these emotions playing games before.

Concrete Puzzle 2019 In-Class, Group Project Course - Princeton ArcPrep Faculty - Katie Zaeh Our intent was to create a puzzle out of concrete and to show and explain how it is put together. We got the measurements for the form work, we cut them out, hot glued them together, and filled them with cement to later break off the foam board. I got the measurements, while my group members made the pieces and filled it with concrete. I was the one writing and finding the measurements for the pieces. I had to find which parts had extra length and width to accommodate tolerances. I planned almost all of our pieces, and helped cut out pieces for our form work.

Band shell 2019 In-Class, Individual Project Course - Princeton ArcPrep Faculty - Katie Zaeh The intent was to make a band shell, seating, and an additional programme that all had a set theme that fit with each other. I carefully chose my placement of the buildings, and my theme. My theme was about video games and each building was a reference to a video game and my additional program being an arcade to correlate with that theme. I made a sketch of what I wanted to do, recreated it in rhino, I got a 3D model of it, and then drew it to 1/8” = 1’ scale. At first I had struggled, but was overall happy with how it came out.
