Heitz Wine Cellar has earned countless accolades for its dazzling wines every year since 1961. Their three renowned vineyard-designated wines --- Martha’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Trailside Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon and Bella Oaks Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon --- are the highlight of the winery’s distinguished resumé.

Fourth of July festivities, patio dining, swim meets, tennis and golf pretty much sums up a typical July at Camp Meridian Hills. If you can't find fun and friends at Meridian Hills Country Club then a deserted isle may be your better vacation choice. More than one thousand four hundred reservations for the fireworks, face painting, and a barbecue buffet started the month. A wine-tasting event, special dinners, and plenty of hot weather followed. Fifty-four teams for the 25th Timberman Member/Guest added to this, the busiest of months, and the event was flawlessly choreographed by all involved. It is a tribute to our Club, its professionals and staff to listen to the well-deserved compliments from our guests visiting us for the first time or the tenth time. As with so many events at Meridian Hills, this one showcases the Club at its best. We have a great deal to be proud of here at Meridian Hills.

So what's next? Hopefully, more of the same only better . . . a worthy objective! An upcoming 360 degree study of our Club ought to confirm for us what we are doing right, alert us to positive trends, and prepare us as to what requires improvement. To be sure, we shall miss our Club Manager and friend, Kevin O'Laughlin, and we wish him well! Now it's our job to identify not so much a replacement but a person just as committed to taking Meridian Hills to the next level. This should prove to be a challenging exercise for anyone involved in the process.

Finally, you should know that your Club stays the course of a very solid financial footing all the while maintaining its brand as a premier establishment that takes no short cuts.

With this in mind, I am delighted to advise that Chris Seger has been elected as our next President and he will begin his term (or "sentence") following the annual meeting in November. What an outstanding individual to guide your Club in the next year. Congrats to Chris! He truly understands the rich tradition of this Club and its place in Indianapolis.

The enduring legacy of Meridian Hills Country Club shall be in good hands.

Just as we reached back to existing members and provided an opportunity to convert their membership, we are looking at an initiative to reach back to former Class "A" (golfing) members and provide them with an opportunity to restore their membership. To be eligible, a former "A" member must have previously paid their initiation fee in full or are prepared to pay the balance of that initiation fee upon rejoining. A former member is required to reapply through the membership committee (same process as a new member) and, if approved, is obligated to pay $5,000 for every full year since their membership lapsed up to a maximum of $20,000. This program will remain open until year end (12/31/11).

The summer months have always represented our family activities at Meridian Hills. School is just around the corner for younger children, baseball, softball and other sports have wound down, and we can count on the weather to be nice and hot to use the pool and other facilities.

This year the Club enters the months of July and August with significant momentum in growing its membership rolls. We have consistently added new members throughout the first half of 2011! The recent in-Club promotion offering incentives to Clubhouse and Tennis members to upgrade to golf was met with considerable success. The Committee is always considering new strategies to boost both membership rolls and usage of the Club by existing members. Golf Upcoming Events 2011 Men’s Club Championship Qualifying Rounds Saturday, August 6 – Sunday, August 7 Match Play Finals Saturday, August 13 – Sunday August 14

Do not miss on this chance to earn the title of “2011 Club Champion” Sign up is now open in the golf shop.

The qualifying rounds will be stroke play format, with the top 4 scores in each flight from the 36 hole stroke play format advancing to the Match Play finals the following weekend. Flights will be determined by handicap, however anyone may declare for the Championship Flight (Green tees). There will also be flights being played from the blue tees and tan tees. There is no entry fee, as it is included in the Golf Package.
