Greetings to everyone! It has been a productive first six weeks at Meridian Hills, meeting many of you and learning the staff, their respective roles and their strengths. I am proud to be a part of the MHCC family with its wonderful traditions and generations of members. All of the members have extended a warm welcome and the employees are dedicated to serving you in your “home away from home.”

Our new “Partner Program” has gotten off to a terrific start. Please remember this program is being reviewed monthly by the Board to determine its longevity. Do not delay in taking advantage of sponsoring a friend, colleague or family member, and in return, receive a special credit on your account.

The Kid’s Club is currently open at 5:00 pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.

On Thursday evening there is no charge to encourage you to enjoy “Couples Night Out.” While Dawn Hetzler is overseeing the planning of our kid’s special events and summer program, Elaine Nichols and Samantha (Sam) Hale are our on-site child care providers and whose pictures and profiles you will find elsewhere in this newsletter. There is a 16 child limit for our facility so reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 255-2496 ext. 232.

A security committee, as mentioned in last month’s newsletter by President Chris Seger, is in place and currently reviewing methods to upgrade security on the property. I have personally met with the Meridian Hills Police Department and have their full cooperation in addressing the recent car break-ins.

As we approach the busy part of the year, I would like to offer a reminder of a few of the noteworthy Rules and Regulations: CLUBHOUSE • Bogey’s Bar must be 18 years of age and older. This is a requirement by the Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission.

• No minors under the age of 16 will be allowed in the Men’s Grill, those 16-18 must be accompanied by an adult.

• The Hearth Room is for formal dining by those 10 years of age and older.

• Only food and beverages purchased through the Club may be consumed on Club premises, any exceptions must be approved by Club Management.

• No minors under the age of 18 are allowed in the Ladies Card Room.

• Children under 14 are not allowed in either Men’s or Ladies’ Locker Room unless accompanied by an adult.

• The use of cell phones is discouraged in all dining areas of the Club and you should have your cell phone on vibrate while in the Clubhouse.

• Children must be in the accompaniment and supervision of an adult.

GOLF • All members and guests must register in the Pro Shop before play. No person(s) shall be a golfing guest of one member or any number of members in total more than 4 times during the golf season, except for Club Invitational Days and Board approved outings.

• Children under 10 years of age must be accompanied by their parents while using the practice facilities. Please do not allow your children to play on the practice putting green.

TENNIS • No resident of Marion County or a contiguous county may be a tennis guest more than 4 times per year, except for Club Invitational Days and Board approved outings.

POOL • In no event are persons permitted to enter the pool area (as defined by the fenced in deck and pool) when a lifeguard is not present.

• Members are limited to 4 guests on any one day and a member may bring the same guest up to 15 times during the pool season.

• All guests must be registered with the pool staff.

• Every member must also sign in at the registration table.

• One towel per member/guest will be issued. Please return your towels in the bin provided prior to leaving the pool area.

I am always open to suggestions and member feedback is important, as our staff’s goal is to provide a relaxing and enjoyable Club experience.

Membership & Kids Club Update Dear Members, The Membership Partner Program has been a huge success so far! We would like to thank all of you that have referred your friends, family members and co-workers. We had 6 new members in January and 5 new members in the month of February. We expect at least that many more in March, which would be a strong finish to the quarter. Jessica Bex, our new Membership Director, has been very busy trying to keep up with this flurry of activity! Please continue to send in your Membership referrals and encourage those who are currently going through the membership process.

Also, we appreciate all of the members who approach Jessica when she is with a candidate or new member. Introducing yourself, telling them something you love about the club or even Erica Mobasser just letting them know you’re happy they are interested is the best testimonial to how friendly Membership Committee and inviting we are here at Meridian Hills. I encourage all of you to be active ambassadors of Chairman the Club! Again, thank you so much for your support and referrals!

Kid’s Club News

Dear Members, With summer right around the corner, I thought this would be a good opportunity to update the membership on who will be running the Kid's Club this year. Below is a brief description on each Kid’s Club staff member.

Elaine Nicholas is 21 years old. She is a Junior at Herron School of Art and Design.

She is Majoring in Fine Arts with a focus in Printmaking and Ceramics. In her free time she enjoys hoola hooping, roller blading and arts and crafts. She also has a love for the outdoors...and of course, children! Elaine has been working in Kid's Club since June of 2010.

Sam Hale is also 21 years old. She is a Junior at IUPUI and is Majoring in Media Arts and Science. In her free time she enjoys playing soccer, video games, and working out. Some goals for Sam are to expand her culinary skills and experiment with design programs. Sam has been working in Kid's Club since June of 2011.

Please make an effort to drop by Kid's Club and meet them if you have not already done so. They are both great gals and a great addition to Meridian Hills. Your children will love being at Kid's Club with Sam and Elaine. We have lots of fun planned for the upcoming summer at Kid's Club and would love for you and your family to be a part of it. Dress Code Reminder

Proper attire must be worn at all times by members and their guests on the:

-Golf Course

-Practice Tee

-Putting and Chipping Greens Proper attire consists of:

-Slacks, tailored shorts, or skirts and skorts for ladies

-Sport shirts with collar, mock turtlenecks, or blouses for ladies

-Golf shoes with soft spikes or tennis shoes Inappropriate attire would be:

-Sandals of any type, swimming suits, swimming trunks, jogging shorts, coaches shorts, tennis attire, tank tops, or tee shirts without collars Other dress code issues we ask to be followed:

-Shirts be tucked into your shorts or slacks

-Hats must be worn facing forward at all times and should be taken off when in the Clubhouse.

-Remember, blue jeans are not allowed on any part of the golf course or practice area, at any time.

2012 Range Plans

At Meridian Hills, we are fortunate to have one of the finest practice facilities in the Midwest! With 300 yards of landing space and six target greens, the practice facility provides golfers with an opportunity to hit every shot imaginable. The short game practice area provides members with an opportunity to work on every shot they may face from 50 yards and shorter, including bunker shots. And don’t forget, the range is now fully stocked with NXT Tour practice balls.

If you are a Golf, Tennis, or Clubhouse member, you may join the Range Plan by contacting the golf shop at 255-3369 or via email mhccpro@aol.com. Tennis and Clubhouse members are only permitted driving range privileges if they purchase the Range Plan. 2012 Rates are as follows:

Golf News New in 2012

The Short Course at Meridian Hills To engage a large portion of our membership that doesn’t play golf the golf shop is proposing to put in one set of short tees on all 18 holes. These sets would range from 35 yards to 150 yards. These shorter distances will hopefully promote some of our non-golfing husbands or wives, and help promote our already-healthy junior program. We have to come up with new and exciting ways to get more people playing golf and this is one way where we can hopefully get some new golfers developing more interest in the game.

We know that time restrains are becoming a major factor for our younger membership, so a short course will allow couples and/or families with non-regular golfing members to enjoy our wonderful golf course. *Scorecards will be available in the golf shop. *Tee Markers will be in each fairway *Only available for our golfing membership Distances

-Par 5’s 140-160 yards

Back-Nine Bonus Golf

As our membership is growing, we want to give our members more opportunities to enjoy the golf course. We hope this new and innovative idea will allow some people to play a quick 9 holes of golf. We want to thank Jim Hess and his staff for making the necessary accommodations for allowing us to make this possible.

Where: Back Nine When: Golfers must tee off between 7:00am – 8:30am on Saturday and Sunday Mornings during the golf season *members can not tee off after 8:30am on the back nine due to our members playing the front nine to make the turn Why: To allow a single or two-some to play a quick nine holes of golf before other weekend commitments Who: Golfing members who want to play a quick nine holes of golf *men only on Saturday & anyone on Sunday

Hole-In-One Club

The Hole-In-One Club is open to all male members and requires NO entry fee. All members of the H-I-O Club will not be charged until an ace is made and if an ace is made each member is charged $10. If someone records an ace and is a member of the H-I-O Club, the recipient will receive $750 in golf shop credit, $150 in the bar, a laser engraved plaque, and a custom H-I-O blazer with logo patch. Any extra money will be used for prizes in the season ending H-I-O outing. So please consider joining the Hole-In-One Club, you never know, this may be your lucky year!

Junior Golf Sign-Up Information

All Junior Golf and Players Tour brochures will be available in the golf shop beginning April 1st. We ask that all parents come by and pick up these brochures, as they provide detailed information on the 2012 Junior Golf Program and Players Tour! We will have some exciting, retooled programs this year as our staff is focused on junior golf and growing the game at Meridian Hills!

2012 Play With The Pro’s

Meridian Hills is bringing back the Play with a Pro Day. When you play with the pro you are competing in a season long tournament with your foursome. Each team will record their best ball score and then at the end of the year we will crown a winning team. Every group is competing against each other regardless of which Pro you sign up with. For example, if your group played with Jack, you will also be competing against all of the groups that played with Michael and Scott. All ties will be broken by scorecard playoff starting with the #1 handicap hole and regressing.

Sign up sheets, with dates, will be available in the golf shop to Play with the Pro’s: Jack, Michael and Scott. Get your threesome together to join one of the Pro’s in a one best ball, full handicap format. The cost is $15 per person and the total entry fees will be used for prizes. If you have to cancel you may reschedule depending on availability. You must be a golfing member in order to participate.
