I enjoyed serving as your president this past year, and I want to thank all members for their support and commitment in making Meridian Hills a premier family country club. Next, I thank our senior professional staff and all of our employees. Their combined efforts produced another year of solid financial performance in fiscal 2014.

Operating results yielded a positive cash flow including the scheduled debt reduction. The Hawk Project loan was refinanced at a reduced interest rate and is on plan to be retired as scheduled. Initiation fee cash flow was greater than our capital expenditures, providing funds to renovate our golf pro shop, the ladies restroom near Bogey’s bar, and the Wi-Fi system. Also we purchased golf course maintenance equipment, and completed numerous smaller projects.

While club capital improvements and solid operating results are important, planning for the future is equally important. The Board will be presenting to the members for consideration at the annual meeting a series of club by-law changes that we believe will help prepare Meridian Hills for these future challenges. The by-law changes will provide needed continuity in leadership and an improved long range planning process focused on major challenges.

The full financial results for fiscal 2014 will be included in the materials distributed in advance of the annual meeting. By-law change information has already been distributed, and, hopefully, you have had an opportunity to review the changes.

Finally, I wish our incoming President, Jim Dodson, great success in 2015, and I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the annual meeting on November 12, 2014.

Message from theGeneral Manager Table of Contents

Fiscal year 2013-14 is now complete and audited results are finalized.

While overall expenses were less than last year, continued repairs and maintenance took place in the clubhouse. In addition, security costs were elevated to continue our pro-active visibility of on duty patrol presence. Membership performance was normal following a record year in 2012-13. Net golf members are down slightly but the new year has already brought two at a time when no golf member activity takes place!

This fall refurbishing work is being done to paddle courts; including conversion of the heating system to natural gas. Also, new tee Steve Roper, CCM, CCE construction has begun on the golf course and is scheduled for General Manager completion by next season. The result will offer five sets of tees that will accommodate all groups of golfers and handicaps without mixing courses. Continued improvements will take place under the operating and capital budgets as the Board focuses on the development of a Master Plan and its implementation within the financial structure and membership‘s review.

I want to thank your two outgoing members of the Board, Bill Smith and Jim Litten, for their service. Both had done an outstanding job representing your club and making a positive difference in making MHCC better.

Membership Chairman Update

With the winter holidays upon us it is a great time to bring prospective members to our beautiful club and show them what we have to offer.

Now is a great time to let Megan Christman speak to you about some exciting ways to attract new members to Meridian Hills. Those of you who still hold a refundable certificate you are able to redeem the value of the certificate and use its value toward a family or friend’s new club membership. This is just one of the opportunities we have to recruit new members. Call Megan today to find out more.

I would like to thank all the Membership Committee members and MHCC staff who I have served with over the last 3 years, thank you. It has been a sincere pleasure serving the club as Membership Chairman. Now it is time to pass the torch to our new Membership Chairman Pat Schaefer and along with you, help him grow and recruit new members.

The 411 on the Fall Golf Season

As the official golf season has ended, tee times have concluded and all our busy calendar for organized golf events has come to an end. We want to provide a few reminders below: - Tuesday – Sunday the 1st tee opens or play at 9am each day - Monday afternoon play has concluded. The facilities are Closed all day - Tee times are no longer needed on the weekends - The order of play is first come, first serve - Please call or email the golf shop so we can prepare for you and get your bags ready - On busy afternoons, your professional staff will work to start groups on different holes - The dress code still remains in effect (no denim allowed, collared shirts still required) - If the temperature dips below 40* it is likely that we will have a Frost Delay. When this occurs, we can’t allow foot traffic on all turf surfaces until the frost dies off. The golf shop will be proactive in letting you know when these mornings occur during the Fall.

Ireland Trip with Jack Barber

Dear Members, As one of my job responsibilities in my role as the club Ambassador is to help, provide and suggest golf trips and opportunities for our membership. I have assisted several members and their friends on various trips this year.

I have been working on a trip to Ireland for the 2015 season and I am happy to provide you information about it on the following pages.

I am working with Premier Golf who specializes in international travel as they have the exclusive rights through the PGA of America for Ryder Cup packages, and trips to Scotland and Ireland. As recent as last summer I helped Fritz French, Mike Stewart, Tom Gardner and Dave Worthington plan a trip to Scotland which they had a fabulous time.

Our trip will be limited to the first 7 people to sign up. If we have enough demand a waiting list will start after that until we have 4 more individuals to sign up. If you are interested please let me know, or I can put you in touch with Ann Mabry, my contact person with Premier Golf for more details.

There is a $1,000.00 deposit that is nonrefundable and due on December 1, 2014.

Hope you can join me next summer for a wonderful trip to Ireland.
