Maggot Queen Written by Chyna Jade Parker Illustrated by Gabbi Steiger
She was a beauty to behold. Her plump lips exemplified youth. Gabriela had honey dew skin that could make the strongest of men swoon. Each man didn’t last longer than the next new moon. Her current infatuation went by the name of Dimitri. He was a handsome young fellow, but he came from little means. Gabriela’s parents hardly condoned their budding relationship. Dimitri was in love. The mere thought of her sent him into waves of adoration. Dimitri spent his hours consumed by Gabriela’s presence. So much so that it frightened her. The clock chimed on the seventh hour, and with it came Dimitri knocking on her window. Gabriela sighed,
“Right on time” Their kiss was brief. There was little time to spare for the speech she was about to give. “You must give me your attention,” she stated. Dimitri grabbed her hand and planted a kiss on each fingertip. “Speak, my queen,” he prompted. Gabriela wiped her hands clean. Dimitri’s eyes shone like a new star as he awaited her speech. She began, “You- Our infatuation has grown exceedingly fast. Your kindness ranks above all else, and your loveliness knows no bounds. But… I can no longer be yours.” Dimitri’s breathing altered. It became jarred in his chest. His chest rose and fell quickly. “But, you are
mine. You are MINE to love. No one else’s!” He stuttered and shook with anger. Dimitri began to pace. His steps making a large THUD, THUD, THUD. Gabriela let out a nervous laugh and took a few steps back. “No, Dimitri. There is another.” Dimitri stopped mid-stride. His demeanor transformed from agony into a state of pure animosity. He was livid. Dimitri’s knuckles were tightly clenched. “I’m sorry,” she said. But it was too late. Dimitri sprung at Gabriela in a fit of rage. Her head made a delightful THUD as she fell, and again, and again as Dimitri kissed his love goodbye… “You will always be my queen.”
Skeleton Moon Written by Aristotle Man Aiken Inspired by art of Bailey Layne
She is the face of a generation of decay A rebirth of a second wind Of the spirits who walk between the shadows She brings breath from above From her home beyond the empty air In her void between the stars She sings the song of the Muertos An overseer of the underworld The face behind the face In the recesses of a darkened mind The cosmic necromancer She is the mother of a second life Of a life just behind the veil of wind She is the face of a skeleton moon

Written by Zachary Smith Illustrated by Rusty Hatfield
The wolf loped closer to me. It was not a normal wolf. They ran away from me or others when they saw us normally. But not this one. I had seen my father club it down, but it seemed to pick right back up, and took away his leg in a single bite. The rest of the village had been afraid, but I would not let my father go unavenged against such a creature. I had been hiding in the brush for a long while, waiting for it. It had been seen recently by Olaf and his sister, and they came and told us immediately. He wanted to go himself, but mother gave him some strong mead, which caused him to fall asleep. “He has no place out there now, and he must accept that. Go, see if you can bring the pelt of the beast back.” Her words reminded me of why I was out there as my courage left. The wolf was almost on top of me then. I waited a few more steps, my breath held, and when it was close enough, I lunged at it with my spear. I did not want to risk missing it. It stood there and took the blow. I let go of the spear, and staggered back in fear. It stood there for a few moments, it looked to me, then the spear. It pulled the weapon from its side, snapped it like it was only a twig, and seemed to spit the remnants at me. 32
“Oh child, why have you done something so foolish?” I could not respond, in shock that a beast could use our tongue. “You smell like the other one that attacked me not long ago. You must be kin. Was it revenge you sought?” I nodded. “It is for nought. I am older that you could imagine, and will outlive you and this earth.” “Who?” But my mind started to race as I remembered stories of Lokie and Fenrir that my father told me. “Fenrir?” “You’ve heard of my pack.” It seemed to smile. “But no, that is my father. My name is Skoll. When I am bored, I run around like a normal wolf, but I am far from that.” And then I realized why I might have only ever seen the wolf at night, why it was able to keep moving around after father clubbed it and I speared it. “One day I will swallow the sun, and the winters you all experience will be nothing compared to the cold that will come forth. You will all be wiped out. But that time is not yet, and I get bored. And hungry.” He walked over, gingerly, slowly, and took my right arm off like my mother was slicing through bread. He dropped the arm. “Go home child.” I ran as fast as my feet could take me, feeling colder and colder as I neared home. Mother wrapped me in blankets and furs. She placed me near the fire, but nothing seemed to warm me. All I could think about was a world covered in ice, and a wolf that walked over the landscape now that his job was done.
Happy Thanksgiving Written by Jeremy Gonzalez Illustrated by Gabbi Steiger
Every year, in front of this stove. Every year I slave here in this putrid colored kitchen days on end, and for what? So a bunch of ill-mannered ingrates can scoff at these meals I painstakingly prepare? I swear one of these days I just might snap. And today, of all days, I can’t find my meds. This is supposed to be a day of thanks, a day to honor your loved ones. And all I hear is complaining, crying, moaning. “I want this, I want that. Why? Why? WHY?” What a bunch of ungrateful little whiners. And would it kill them to tidy up every
now and then? God forbid I ask them to clean up after themselves. Look at these foot prints, everywhere. No doubt this is going to stain. Here’s an idea, how about picking up a mop instead of just lying there like a sack of potatoes. What is that? Cranberry sauce? Oh my, this is going to stain. I hope somebody appreciates this. This apron is filthy…look at me. And why is this taking so long to cook? There is hardly any meat on those bones. And what’s up with those eyes…there is something about those eyes. “Hey, guys…dinner will be ready in about 30 more minutes!” Really? Not even a “thank you”. Just silence. Unbelievable. Gosh, where did I put my meds?
Camp Crystal Lake a film by ricky Bird Behind the scenes photos courtesty of Curtis Noble Photography & Hectic Films
Hey, who are you? My name is Rickey Bird and I am a filmmaker. What made you want to shoot a Jason Film? We wanted to do something for Halloween. Curtis came by my house to donate to Border Brothers and started showing me some locations he had been taking pictures of. That’s when I saw the Camp Crystal Lake style abandoned camp. That location reminded me of Friday the 13th. How long did it take you to plan? We didn’t have much time to plan once we verified that the location was still intact. We had less than a week. Why did you choose DT, Erica, and Jessica for the roles? I use DT Carney because he is a great actor. He is also a huge Friday the 13th fan. Erica has worked on a couple other Hectic Films projects and has done an amazing job. Jessica as well. We worked on a rap video together. The three were the perfect match for the recipe of the film. Two beautiful girls and a big scary guy to kill them. Were there any difficulties trying to shoot it all in one day? We had a mudslide on the grapevine that happened the day before the shoot. We were going to have to cancel the shoot. So that set us back about 5 hours I would say.
It’s difficult to shoot in one day and we may have got everything but then the Ranger and Sheriff showed up. They kicked us out of the place. So we had to find another place to finish up the movie. And I am super glad we did. Where can people check out the video? Go to our site www.hecticfilms. com. It’s also on youtube and vimeo What are your next projects? My next project is a Grindhouse short film Machine Gun Baby it’s gonna be EPIC!! [smile emoticon] If you can be any Disney Princess, who would you be and why? Ariel simply because she is Fucking awesome and she is a redhead. Freddy Vs Jason? Sorry, neither can win cause I love watching them fight. Alen VS Predator? Predator all the way baby. Barney vs Godzilla? Godzilla Favorite Director? I don’t just have one but a few for different reasons. If I had to pick one it would be Steven Spielberg. Any special thanks? A HUGE Special thanks to Curtis Noble for letting use a location he
scouted a long time ago. To my kids that I love to have help out on film projects all the time, Rickey Bird 3 and Mychael Bird. Erica Morgan for being a trooper and even coming back to my house to do more pick up shots. Jessica Bertrand for being AWESOME and naked! Also dying in a most epic way. Charlie Jacquez for his hard work on this and his DP Skills. Jesse Lowe and Kenny Lowe for their support and props/keys. Jeremy Gonzalez for running into the project head on and getting some EPIC shots no questions asked! Jack Dog for being out there even though he didn’t get his cameo. To Trevor Fulks who wanted to be out there but couldn’t, so thanks homie. Jason Sanders for putting together all our footage to make a truly awesome short fan film. The Ranger and Sheriff that didn’t arrest us. And last but not least DT Carney the one guy you will probably see in every Hectic Films production. Not because I like the guy but because he is a true talent. Great actor and a great Jason Voorhees. Where can people go to get more info/follow hectic films? Check us out on our website www. hecticfilms.com like us on Facebook, Youtube is Hecticfilms2, we are on instagram and twitter. Anything else you’d like to add? I love Project Oh! Magazine 35
DT Carney Actor (Jason Vorhees)
How many times have you worked with hectic films? I have worked with Hectic Films more than a few times. I think they are The only ones who will put up with me. Rachel & Rickey Bird have given me so many GREAT Roles and I can’t thank them enough. What is it like working with Rickey Bird? To be Honest it’s AWESOME. Rickey has no problem telling you a take sucked or lets try that one again. I see Rickey’s REAL Passion to make Quality Films so it makes me go The extra Mile. I have seen Rickey turn out a Fun Film or Short with next to nothing money wise. He has a supportive Family in his Mother & Father. His Kids help out on Films too. How cool is it to see The Kids working with their Dad making a Zombie flick .Rickey’s Wife Rachel is another Driving Force as she gets everything done & planned out before hand. I see a lot of The same faces Mike Galland ,Erica Morgan etc etc coming back time & time again. It’s because we know Rickey WILL get it done. What made you want to be a part of this project? You can’t say NO to Rickey Bird. You don’t believe me? Try it… Is it difficult acting behind a mask? The only thing difficult about acting with The Mask on was not being able to see if The Cops were coming. I mean I want to get a head start running away like everyone else. What other projects are you working on, or considering working on? I have a few Projects upcoming. I will be working on Director Ryan Katzenbach’s Titanic Tv Documentry with Ed Asner & Valerie Harper. I will be Filming a Feature Cambodian Dangerous with Actor Vanchay long. I will be in a Comedy named Daddies Girls with Actors Tony Gainos & Jefferey Combs early next year and of Course Hectic Films latest MACHINE GUN BABY. If you could summarize your experience on this film in one word, what would it be? I need to use two words..Not Arrested If a cabin contains 5 people and all but two are murdered, how many are left? None because I never leave a Witness.. Is Jason Dead? Ask Rickey Bird? If he finds another illegal location you just never know.. 36

Erica Morgan Model/Actress (Kris Hills)
Do you prefer acting or modeling? They are kind of both the same to me. You have to act a lot when you model, but you know...I like acting more on stage than film because that is what I am used to. But, after doing film, it’s interesting, it’s fun. I think the hardest part with film is you have to do a lot of takes. Like at least on stage you can give it your all that one performance, that one night, and you justkeep going through your scene whereas with film you have to have that same emotion like 12 times. And that’s really hard to do. It has to be the same way each of those 12 times. What have you done on stage? I’ve been on stage since I was like two. I was in church and did a lot of plays in church. Then I started in drama in junior high, and did that through high school. I was a narrator in macbeth. I wasn’t in anything big, just little minor parts, a lot of back stage. My dad does a lot of building and sculpting. He is an artist and creative, so I did a lot of the set work and stuff like that. A little techy. I was a little nerd in highschool. How did you get involved with hectic films.? It was Robert Bejil, about a year ago, in October. They asked me if I wanted to do just some little rinky dink short film just for fun called Tear Her. And I got to die in it and it was so much fun. Are you a fan of horror movies? I am. I like to be scared. I love to be scared actually. I love scary movies. I love horror movies. I love the paranormal. Do you have any favorites? My all time favorite scary movie, and I’m totally going to get flack for this, is The Woman in Black, the first one, because I love the ending of it. It wraps it all up and I can turn it off and go to sleep and be like “It’s okay.” I just liked the storyline, I just liked how it ended. Also Insidious 1 and 2. I loved those movies. I thought those were pretty cool. Did you watch the Jason Movies? No. When the Freddy VS Jason movies came out. I think I watched those. And even as a teenage kid I was like “all of this is just tits, and having sex.” I got bored. I went to go play video games or something... because I was a nerd, and I hate having to admit it. I had glasses, braces and acne. Go nerds! 38
What made you get into modeling? I have always wanted to model. There is a picture of me, might have been not even 2 yet, and I am sitting on someone’s lap and I’ve got a little onsie on with sunglasses on with my legs crossed and I’m posing. I don’t know, it’s who I’ve always been. I watched America’s next top model since it began with Adrianne Curry, I think that’s how you say her name. I don’t know, that’s just how i’ve always been. Do you die in every hectic films movie? Yes, in every single Hectic Films film I’ve done I die. This is number 3. I have told Rickey I won’t do another Hectic Films film or anything unless I die. Even if it’s a romantic story? Yes, even if it’s a romantic comedy, I have to die. I am the Kenny of Hectic Films. Can’t take that away from me. Favorite power ranger? the pink one, duh. who doesnt have a crush on her? even i did i used to play house when i was litlte and was like “im kimberly guys” How do people follow/book you? Jessica Bertrand Model/Actress (Deb Tate)
Hey, who are you, what do you do? My name is Jessica Alicia Bertrand and I’m a Model, Mother, Student and a Neurorehab specialist. How did you get involved in the project? I’m known for doing nude/implied photo shoots and Ricky needed a topless woman for the role so of course I was contacted. What made you want to be a part of the project? I’ve never been in a short film before so I wanted to see what it was like. Besides that who doesn’t want to be killed by Michael Myers. I can cross that off my list. Have you acted before? Yes. I was a tree in first grade for our Christmas play. A good one at that How did you like the over all experience? At first I was completely nervous because this was something I’ve never done. Ricky and his whole team were all easy going though and made it a great first experience. I’m happy it was Ricky who broke my film cherry. Who is your favorite model/actor? Oh that’s a tough one...... Honestly idk. I mean if I had to choose one though probably Johnny Depp. Mainly because Tim Burton uses him for almost everything. If there was a zombie apocalypse, what sandwich would you make? Haha. This has got to be the most random interview question I’ve ever been asked. However it would probably be a turkey sandwich. Any cool projects coming up? I just recently found out I’m expecting so I have a few lined up then everything is on a stand still. Photographers either want to shoot you when you’re not showing or really showing so we’ll see what happens. How can people follow/book you? I do all my booking through my email at jessica_b1988@live.com You can follow me on various things Facebook: Jessica Alicia Bertrand IG: @syrenesg Snapchat- jessica_xoxox88
