Together with her 2 nail stylists, she always provides an exclusive moment for her customers with a premium touch. As a ProNails colour expert, she knows exactly which colour suits who, as you can see on her social media, and for that reason, customers from all over the country come to her salon. JOVANA’S PERSONAL TOUCH Why do customers feel at home in your salon? I believe the most important thing about receiving customers is that they immediately feel at ease. I offer them something to drink and ask how they are doing. With customers who have been coming for years, you build a certain relationship, and then the social contact is something both my customer and myself look forward to. Certain customers come every two weeks, just so they can drink their coffee without being disturbed. Afterwards they go outside with well-groomed nails and they are completely relaxed. How do you add a Personal Touch to the nail looks of your customers? I always advise each client on the colour and look that would suit her best, they don’t have to follow my advice of course, but in reality my clients trust me blindly. For some people this is even the reason why they come to me! I recently asked a client what colour she would like to have on her nails, and she was

very much by surprised because I usually choose this for her! They find it so evident. In addition, my clients get inspired by the pictures that I post on social media. They often want exactly the same on their nails as on the picture. On the other hand, I also have customers who always wear the same thing, for example, I have a customer who cannot get away from the colour "Out To Lunch". She has been wearing this for years and never chooses anything else. It’s really her signature colour, some people even think that her nails actually grow in this colour.
Moreover, I love doing it. If I weren't a nail stylist, I would have been a photographer, really! Taking pictures is my passion as you can see on my Instagram page: every picture was taken with love. When my customers enter the salon, I immediately know if I want to take their picture. Light is one of the most important success factors for a good picture. Preferably, I take my pictures outside, natural light is never too yellow or too blue. In my opinion, garments are the perfect background, they provide a good contrast and represent the personality of the customer.
Besides that, they are also inspired by my nails. My signature nail shape is short square and this is increasingly in demand with my customers. A while ago I was crazy about the color "In the prune of your eyes" and I wore it for months. Consequently, my customers were also a fan and because of that I had to reorder the color in no time!
How do you combine the creative aspect of the job with running your own business? For each customer I provide 45 minutes, hence I do 10-15 customers each day, which results in a 12-hour working day. A good planning is vital! If a client wants a special Nail Art look, I schedule them at the end of the day, this way I can take the time to bring my creative vision to life and I don't compromise other appointments.
Why do you post so many pictures of your work online? I post these images on Facebook and Instagram to inspire customers and to attract new customers.

Why did you choose for the Pronails Premium concept? During the holidays, many city people and students from Belgrade return to the smaller cities where they grew up. JOVANA’S FUTURE What does the future look like for you? Together with my architect, I am working on plans to further expand my salon, in order to have extra space to receive customers. I will do everything I can to make my interior as stylish and luxurious as possible. I recently attended the “Train-the-Trainer” training course so now I can also provide training at the Serbian ProNails Distributor’s training center.

1. HEAT SPIKE WHY IS HEAT SPIKE A PROBLEM?
Heat spike is a normal chemical consequence of the curing of any gel. When using a LED lamp, which is 4 times faster than UV, the heat production is more concentrated during the first seconds of curing. Unfortunately for some customers, this heat spike comes with a stingy, burning sensation that is quite unpleasant. Luckily there are several ways to avoid this! A nail service should be a real wellness moment, so hurting your customers is off course the last thing you want to do.
ARE YOU CAUSING PAINFUL HEAT SPIKES? If you are, we know it’s certainly not your intention to! You should know heat spike can be caused by several different reasons. Sometimes it's your client that is more sensitive to heat spike. But unfortunately very often it's the nail stylist herself that is causing an unpleasant feeling for her client. You as a nail stylist can do many things to control this sensation. We listed all the right tips so you can treat your clients with the smoothest service possible!
HOW TO ELIMINATE HEAT SPIKES?

Use natural light for your photos, such as by a window or even better: outside. This brings out the colour of the nails and hands the best and most natural.
Your clients want to see what you can do as a nail stylist, so each new manicure is an opportunity to showcase your talent. Don’t forget to take a few pretty photos before your client leaves. You can always choose afterwards which set of nails proved to be the most photogenic and post it afterwards.

Using too much filters is a no-go. Have your photo look as natural as possible, play with contrast or lighting but leave everything else as natural as possible. This way clients get to see the real effect of a certain colour as to not raise any false expectations.
Stories have become incredibly successful. It’s sometimes the first and only thing people check out on social. Stories allow you to show more of your salon and business. They’re perfect for highlighting events, but they’re just as fun for a glimpse behind the scenes, to show “life as it is”. Try to tell real “stories”, by showing for example a service beginning to end! Don’t forget to save a great story to your profile and organise them in themes. Otherwise all your great work is gone after 24h!

Use “instagrammable” elements and backgrounds for your photos. Have your hands and nails really come to life! Use vibrant, contrasting backgrounds such as a nice blouse or your client’s handbag. Or use a ProNails magazine or a natural material such as wood or marble. Have your client hold something for a more natural position: a fun plant, a ProNails product, a fun gadget or a coffee cup. Be creative! Find inspiration in things you like too. Add a personal touch to each image!
