EL INVIERNO DE LOS DRAGONES THE WINTER OF DRAGONS DER WINTER DER DRACHEN [ CORINNA GRAF, Consejera Delegada ]

A

unque pueda parecerlo, el titular de esta editorial no hace referencia a una nueva serie de Netflix sobre animales mitológicos y caballeros legendarios. Sino al intenso calendario de regatas de la Clase Dragon que podremos disfrutar este invierno en Puerto Portals, con varias pruebas de la máxima competencia (ver más información en páginas interiores de esta revista).

A modo de recordatorio, decir que el Dragon es una embarcación a vela diseñada en 1929 y que fue clase olímpica desde el año 1948 hasta 1972. En la actualidad, Puerto Portals cuenta con la mayor flota de Dragones de España y es un referente en el circuito internacional.

Con eventos deportivos como este, y otros clásicos del invierno como el Christmas Market, seguimos reforzando nuestro deseo de que la marina sea un lugar vivo y abierto durante los 365 días del año. ¡Y lo estamos consiguiendo! Gracias, en gran parte, a la respuesta que tenemos año tras año de miles de amigos y visitantes como usted que se acercan a nuestras instalaciones a disfrutar de los eventos que organizamos y de la sugerente oferta de restaurantes, boutiques y otros espacios destinados a ofrecerle servicios que espero sean de su interés.

Por último, pero no menos importante, me gustaría destacar la fortuna que significa contar con un equipo de profesionales que sienten el puerto como algo propio.

Una actitud que nos permite seguir mejorando y haciendo que éste sea un lugar cada vez más agradable y estimulante para todos. ¡Nos vemos muy pronto en Puerto Portals!

lthough it may look that way, the title of this editorial does not refer to a new Netflix series on mythological animals and legendary knights. In fact it refers to the intense Dragon Class regatta calendar we will be able to enjoy in Puerto Portals this winter, with several maximum skill trials (see more information over the pages inside this magazine).

As a reminder, we should say that the Dragon is a sailing vessel designed in 1929 which was an Olympic Class from 1948 until 1972.

At present, Puerto Portals has the largest fleet of Dragons in Spain and is a reference name on the international circuit.

With sports events such as these, and other winter classics like the Christmas Market, we continue to strengthen our desire to make the marina a lively, open space 365 days a year. And this is what we are achieving! Thanks, in part, to the response we have obtained year after year from thousands of friends and visitors like you, who come to our installations to enjoy the events we organise and the tempting range of restaurants, boutiques and other spaces designed to offer you services that we hope are of interest to you.

Last, but by no means least, I would like to highlight how fortunate we are to have a team of professionals who feel that the port is something that belongs to them. An attitude that enables us to carry on improving and making this an increasingly pleasant, stimulating venue for all.

uch wenn es so scheinen mag, der Titel diesen Leitartikels bezieht sich nicht etwa auf eine neue Serie bei Netflix, bei der mythologische Tiere und legendäre Ritter die Hauptrolle spielen, sondern auf die gut gefüllte Regatta-Agenda der Drachenboote, die wir in diesem Winter in Puerto Portals erleben können. Im Rahmen der Regatten finden mehrere anspruchsvolle Wettkämpfe statt, zu denen Sie auf den folgenden Seiten unseres Magazins detaillierte Informationen finden.

An dieser Stelle erinnere ich daran, dass der Drachen ein 1929 entworfenes Segelboot ist, das von 1948 bis 1972 als eigene Klasse an den Olympischen Spielen teilnahm. Heutzutage ist Puerto Portals der Hafen mit der größten Drachenbootflotte Spaniens, der auch international einen exzellenten Ruf genießt.

Mit derartigen Sportevents und anderen Klassikern des Winterprogramms, wie der Weihnachtsmarkt, arbeiten wir weiter daran, die Marina von Puerto Portals als einen lebendigen Ort zu gestalten, der an 365 Tagen des Jahres belebt ist.

Und wir sind dabei, unser Ziel zu erreichen, dank des großartigen Feedbacks, das wir Jahr für Jahr von Freunden und Besuchern wie Ihnen erhalten. Regatas de noviembre a abril | Regattas from November to April | Regatten von November bis April Puerto Portals alberga entre noviembre y abril cuatro pruebas de la clase Dragon: Puerto Portals Grand Prix, III Dragon Winter Series, IV Copa del Mediterráneo y Puerto Portals European Championship.

La gran novedad radica en la organización de la regata de Dragones de Grado 1, una exigente competición que precisa de la máxima destreza por parte de los participantes. Bajo esta denominación se disputarán la Puerto Portals Grand Prix y el Campeonato Europeo, con la participación de embarcaciones de trece nacionalidades.

Puerto Portals es el puerto con la mayor flota de Dragones de toda España y un referente en el circuito internacional.

Puerto Portals Grand Prix 11 al 16 de noviembre

Between November and April Puerto Portals hosts four Dragon class trials: Puerto Portals Grand Prix, III Dragon Winter Series, IV Copa del Mediterráneo (Mediterranean Cup) and Puerto Portals European Championship.

The big novelty lies in the organisation of the Level 1 Dragons regatta, a demanding competition which calls for maximum skill on the part of participants. Under this name, the Puerto Portals Grand Prix and the European Championship will be held, with the participation of boats of thirteen different nationalities.

Puerto Portals is the port with the largest Dragon fleet in all of Spain, and a reference on the international circuit.

CHRISTMAS MARKE T 18 de diciembre al 6 de enero, de 12 a 21 h. | 18th December – 6th January, from 12 noon to 9 pm. | 18. Dezember bis 6. Januar, von 12 bis 21 Uhr. El espíritu navideño vuelve a iluminar Puerto Portals entre el 18 de diciembre y el 6 de enero. Las casetas de madera y la pista de patinaje, la gastronomía y la gran variedad de actividades para toda la familia hacen de este Christmas Market uno de los mejores de Europa.

Más de 40 casetas embellecen el puerto con productos para llenar de ilusión el árbol de navidad, desde ropa y complementos hasta decoración y juguetes. En la amplia oferta gastronómica destacan el delicioso glühwein, característico de todos los mercados del norte de Europa. Además, la foodtruck de Manduka con su reconocida Angus Burger, todo un clásico del mercado, y los dulces artesanales de La Candívora, la caravana más golosa y colorida.

El mercado abrirá todos los días de 12 a 21 h. (viernes y sábados de 12 a 22 h.) hasta el día de Reyes, el lunes 6 de enero.

Christmas spirit once again lights up Puerto Portals from 18th December to 6th January. The wooden huts and the skating rink, the gastronomy and the wide variety of activities for the whole family make this Christmas Market one of the best in Europe.

More than 40 huts adorn the port with products to fill the Christmas tree up with joy, from clothes and accessories to decorations and toys. One highlight of the broad range of gastronomy is the delicious glühwein, characteristic of all the markets in northern Europe. And also the Manduka foodtruck with its well-known Angus Burger, a market classic, alongside the artisanal sweetmeats of La Candívora, the sweetest, most colourful caravan.

The market will open every day from 12 noon to 9 pm (12 noon to 10 pm on Fridays and Saturdays) until Reyes, the Kings’ Day, Monday 6th January.

Vom 18. Dezember bis 6. Januar herrscht Weihnachtsstimmung in Puerto Portals.

Dank der Holzbuden, der Eisbahn, der Gastronomie und der vielfältigen Kulturagenda für die ganze Familie gilt der Christmas Market als einer der schönsten Weihnachtsmärkte Europas.

An den mehr als 40 Ständen kann man vielerlei Geschenke für das Weihnachtsfest kaufen, von Kleidung und Accessoires bis Deko und Spielzeug. Beim kulinarischen Angebot ist der auf Nordeuropas Weihnachtsmärkten typische Glühwein ein besonders leckeres Highlight. Vor Ort werden auch der MandukaFoodtruck mit dem bekannten Angus-Burger und die köstlichen Versuchungen des farbenfrohen, süßen Wohnmobils La Candívora sein.

Der Christmas Market ist bis zum Dreikönigsfest am 6. Januar täglich von 12 bis 21 Uhr geöffnet, freitags und samstags von 12 bis 22 Uhr.

Con pilotos y coches de diferentes países, la prueba cuenta con una red logística de más de 150 profesionales que velan por la seguridad y el éxito de esta competición que cada año congrega en el puerto a cientos de aficionados a las carreras.

From 12th to 14th March Puerto Portals will be the venue of the XVI Rally Clásico, one of the most internationally-relevant events held on Mallorca. With drivers and cars from different countries, the trial has a logistical network of more than 150 professionals who ensure the safety and success of this rally, which congregates hundreds of racing fans in the port every year.

n 2019 Puerto Portals volvió a ser sede por segunda vez del Mundial de las 52 SUPER SERIES Rolex TP52 World Championship, la regata más importante de la temporada dentro del mejor circuito del mundo.

En 2020 el puerto será sede de la prueba que se celebrará entre el 15 y el 19 de septiembre, y que cerrará la temporada de este apasionante circuito.

El pasado verano fue el alemán Platoon quien se proclamó campeón en las aguas de la bahía de Palma. El barco de Harm Müller-Spreer ya había ganado el Mundial en 2017 en Scarlino, Italia, y en Mallorca repitió la hazaña.

En 2020, un nuevo puerto se suma al circuito: entre el 2 y el 6 de marzo, estos bólidos del mar navegarán por la costa de Ciudad del Cabo, en Sudáfrica.

Resaltar que las tripulaciones cuentan con los mejores regatistas del mundo, algunos de ellos ganadores de Copa América, y otros olímpicos.

n 2019, for the second time, Puerto Portals was the venue for the 52 SUPER SERIES Rolex TP52 World Championship, the most important regatta of the season within the best circuit in the world. And in 2020, the port will host the trial due to be held from 15th to 19th September, which will conclude the season of this exciting circuit.

Last summer it was the German boat Platoon that claimed victory in the waters of the bay of Palma. The boat, owned by Harm Müller-Spreer, had already won the World Championship in 2017 in Scarlino, Italy, and in Mallorca it repeated this feat.

In 2020, a new port joins the circuit: from 2nd to 6th March, these racing vessels will sail along the coast of Cape Town, in South Africa.

We should highlight the fact that the crews include the best racing sailors in the world, some of whom have won the America’s Cup, along with others who are Olympic veterans.

September Gastgeber der Regatta, die die Saison der mitreißenden Regattaklasse beschließen wird.

Im vergangenen Sommer trug die deutsche Platoon den Sieg in den Gewässern der Bucht von Palma davon. Die Yacht von Harm Müller-Spreer siegte bereits bei der Weltmeisterschaft 2017 im italienischen Scarlino und wiederholte die sportliche Höchstleistung ein Jahr später auf Mallorca.

2020 gesellt sich ein neuer Hafen zur Regatta. Zwischen dem 2. und 6. März kreuzen die Boliden des Meeres an der Küste von Kapstadt, Südafrika.

Unter den Crewmitgliedern finden sich die besten Regattateilnehmer der Welt: einige gewannen den American Cup, andere nahmen an den Olympischen Spielen teil.

“Trabajo en el puerto desde hace 32 años, con la plantilla de marinería, en la parte de los barcos y atención al cliente, y en el mantenimiento de los amarres y los fondeos. Puedo decir que he visto ‘nacer’ Puerto Portals. Las obras que ahora se están realizando van a modernizar mucho las instalaciones. Puerto Portals no es solo un puerto deportivo, es también un centro de ocio con actividades todo el año. Entre nosotros los trabajadores existe mucho compañerismo, hay sintonía y eso se nota. Me gusta la sensación de que es un puerto familiar, un lugar muy agradable para trabajar”.

‘I have been working in the port for 32 years, with the sailing services workforce, on the side of boats and customer services, as well as in maintenance of moorings and anchorages. I can say that I saw how Puerto Portals was ‘born’. The work that is being carried out now is going to modernise the installations a lot. Puerto Portals is not only a marina, it’s also a centre of recreation with activities underway all year round. There is a great sense of comradeship between those of us who work here, there is harmony, and that makes a difference. Es un evento social y deportivo con un público exquisito de alto poder adquisitivo. El puerto tiene muchísimas cosas positivas, entre ellas su localización, muy próxima a Palma, así como la infraestructura. A lo largo de todos estos años organizando el rally, siempre me he sentido arropado por Puerto Portals. ¡Y además a todos los pilotos les encanta este lugar! Es muy satisfactorio ver como familias enteras pasean entre los coches clásicos, como si fueran piezas de museo”.

Al propietario del barco le gusta mucho este puerto, que los restaurantes estén cerca y que además esté tan bien comunicado, con acceso fácil a Palma y a muchas calas de la isla. En relación con otros puertos puedo decir que Puerto Portals es muy vital. También en invierno, con los eventos y actividades tan interesantes que se organizan. Personalmente me gusta mucho el rally clásico, y también disfruto de las regatas. La infraestructura y los servicios son de primer nivel. Y más con el nuevo aparcamiento, que será muy beneficioso”.

‘Puerto Portals has been my base for 8 years now. The boat owner really likes this harbour, the fact that the restaurants are close by and it has such good communications, with easy access to Palma and lots of the island’s coves. In relation to other ports, I can say that Puerto Portals is extremely lively. In winter too, with the interesting events and activities that are organised here. Personally, I love the Rally Clásico, and I enjoy the regattas too. The infrastructure and services are top notch. El cambio fue muy importante ya que en poco tiempo hemos vendido muchos yates, embarcaciones de entre 15 y 35 metros de eslora que también hacemos a medida. El puerto tiene mucha vida y eso ayuda a generar ventas. La gente pasa, siente curiosidad, entra en la oficina y pregunta. Puerto Portals es sin duda un puerto de referencia gracias a sus comercios y restaurantes de altísima calidad. En cuanto a los eventos, me encanta el Christmas Market: es el mejor de Mallorca”.

achdem durch das neue Trockendock die Verbindung zum Playa del Oratorio geschaffen wurde, gehen die Umbauarbeiten in Puerto Portals gut voran. Geplant ist eine neue Tiefgarage mit 180 Stellplätzen sowie der spektakuläre Beachclub auf der Hafenmole mit Panoramablick.

Sobre este aparcamiento se elevarán además dos nuevos edificios comerciales, que contarán con tiendas, restaurantes, bares, oficinas y dependencias portuarias, además de un gimnasio de 650 m2 en la segunda planta con espléndidas vistas panorámicas de la bahía de Palma.

TECNOLOGÍA PUNTA. A estas infraestructuras se suman otras acciones destinadas a ofrecer mayor seguridad, tecnología punta y mejores servicios. De este modo, Puerto Portals contará con un anillo de fibra óptica que abarcará toda la marina, convirtiéndolo en un puerto inteligente que triplicará el circuito cerrado de televisión con 120 cámaras, incluidas las de reconocimiento facial.

El objetivo primordial es seguir siendo una referencia, en la que los clientes y visitantes puedan disfrutar tranquilos de su experiencia en el puerto, como siempre ha sucedido.

RENOVACIÓN DEL MOBILIARIO. Está previsto que a principios de 2020 comience la reforma integral del boulevard. También el área de la Torre de Capitanía será más amplia y ajardinada.

Asimismo el plan de mejoras incluye la renovación de todo el mobiliario, una fuerte inversión en sostenibilidad con luces leds, el aislamiento térmico de todos los edificios y mejoras en la manera de recolectar los residuos.

Two new shopping buildings will be constructed above this car park, containing shops, restaurants, bars, offices and port units, as well as a gym with a surface area of 650 m2 on the second floor, affording superb panoramic views of the bay of Palma.

CUTTING-EDGE TECHNOLOGY. In addition to these infrastructures, other actions are planned, designed to offer greater safety, cutting-edge technology and improved services. In this way, Puerto Portals will have a fiber optic ring that will cover the whole marina, making it a smart port and tripling closed circuit TV capacity with 120 cameras, including facial recognition cameras.

The primary goal is for the port to continue being a model, where customers and visitors can enjoy their experience of the harbour as ever with total peace of mind.

RENOVATION OF FURNISHINGS. A comprehensive overhaul of the boulevard is due to begin in early 2020.

Meanwhile, the improvement plan includes the renovation of all of the furnishings, a substantial investment in sustainability with LED lights, thermal insulation of all the buildings and improvements in the waste collection system.

Über der Tiefgarage werden zwei neue Geschäftsgebäude errichtet, die Boutiquen, Restaurants, Bars, Büros und Räumlichkeiten der Hafenbetreiber beherbergen. Darüber hinaus entsteht in der zweiten Etage ein 650 Quadratmeter großes Sportstudio mit atemberaubendem Panoramablick über die Bucht von Palma.

SPITZENTECHNOLOGIE. Zur neuen Infrastruktur kommen Maßnahmen, die mehr Sicherheit, Spitzentechnologie und besseren Service ermöglichen. Puerto Portals wird über einen Ring aus Glasfaserkabeln verfügen, der die gesamten Marina umfasst. Ein intelligenter Hafen wird entstehen, mit 120 Kameras, einschließlich Gesichtserkennung. Somit wird die bisherige Kameraüberwachung durch den geschlossenen TV-Kreislauf verdreifacht.

Unser vorrangigstes Ziel ist, für Mitglieder und Gäste weiterhin eine gute Adresse zu sein, ein Ort, an dem sie von jeher entspannt das Erlebnis Hafen genießen können.

MODERNISIERUNG DES MOBILIARS. Geplant ist, Anfang 2020 mit der umfassenden Modernisierung der Hafenpromenade zu beginnen. Der Bereich um den Hafenturm soll ebenfalls erweitert und begrünt werden.

Der Modernisierungsplan sieht darüber hinaus die Erneuerung sämtlichen Mobiliars vor sowie eine hohe Investition in Nachhaltigkeit durch den Einsatz von LED Leuchten, Wärmedämmung in allen Gebäuden und Verbesserungen bei der Abfallentsorgung.

ecenas de mitos entorno al mar y sus misterios han desembocado a lo largo de la historia en la adoración de dioses acuáticos.

En la antigua Grecia, el dios Poseidón dominaba los mares y los océanos ejerciendo su poder para generar tormentas y terremotos, y también calmar las aguas a su antojo.

El Señor de los Mares es representado con un tridente y una carroza de la que tiran monstruos mitad serpientes y mitad caballos.

Cuenta la leyenda que Poseidón y Atenea se disputaron la ciudad de Atenas, a la cual debían realizar una ofrenda. Así, el dios del mar les ofreció una fuente de agua salada, mientras que Atenea le otorgó un olivo, que finalmente se llevó la victoria.

Iracundo por la derrota, Poseidón inundó la región como castigo y consiguió que los atenienses le rindieran culto desde entonces.

OTROS DIOSES DEL MAR. En la mitología romana es el dios Neptuno quien ostenta el título de señor de las aguas, mientras en la cultura nórdica veneraban a Njörd, dios de la tierra fértil, la costa marina y la navegación.

Existen multitud de mitos entorno a los océanos, desde la cultura egipcia en la que adoraban a Sobek, representado como un enorme cocodrilo, pasando por la asiática, en la que destacan las deidades de Susanoo en Japón y Gong Gong en China, hasta la cultura maya, en la que adoraban a Chaac, asociado al agua y la lluvia.

Los marineros, por temor a las tormentas y a las tempestades, decoraban sus embarcaciones y realizaban sacrificios con el objetivo de evitar naufragios y conseguir llegar a destino de forma segura. ¡Todo fuera por tener a los dioses de su lado!

ozens of myths surround the sea and throughout history its mysteries have led to the worship of aquatic gods.

In ancient Greece, the god Poseidon dominated the seas and oceans, exercising his power to create storms and earthquakes, and also to calm the water at will.

The Lord of the Seas is depicted with a trident and a chariot drawn by hippocamps, fish-tailed horses.

Legend has it that Poseidon and Athena were in dispute over patronage of the city of Athens, to which they had to make an offering. Thus, the sea god offered up a salt water well, whilst Athena gave it an olive tree, and was ultimately victorious.

Irate over his defeat, Poseidon flooded the region as a punishment and in this way managed to ensure that Athenians have worshipped him ever since.

OTHER SEA GODS. In Roman mythology it is the god Neptune who holds the title of lord of the seas, whilst in Nordic culture Njörd, the god of fertile land, the sea coast and navigation, was worshipped.

There are multiple myths surrounding the oceans, from Egyptian culture, in which people adored Sobek, represented as an enormous crocodile, to Asia, where perhaps the most remarkable deites were Susanoo in Japan and Gonggong in China, and even the Mayan culture, which worshipped Chaac, associated to water and rain.

Fearing storms and tempests, sailors would decorate their boats and make sacrifices in order to prevent shipwrecks and reach their destinations safe and sound. All to keep the gods on their side!

utzende Mythen um das Meer und seine Mysterien haben die Menschen im Laufe der Zeit die Götter der Gewässer verehren lassen.

Bei den Alten Griechen wurden Meere und Ozeane von Poseidon beherrscht, der nach Gutdünken Stürme und Seebeben entfesselte oder seine beruhigende Hand über die Gewässer legte.

Der Herr der Meere tritt im Dreizack an, sein Streitwagen wird von Monstern gezogen, die halb Schlangen, halb Pferd sind.

Der Legende nach stritten sich Poseidon und Athene einst um die Vorherrschaft in Athen. Dazu mussten sie eine Opfergabe darbringen.

Der Meeresgott überreichte einen Salzwasserbrunnen, während Athene einen Olivenbaum übergab und damit den Sieg davontrug.

Aus Zorn über die Niederlage überflutete Poseidon die Region und erreichte so, dass ihm die Athener seit jeher huldigen.

ANDERE MEERESGÖTTER. In der römischen Mythologie herrschte Neptun über die Meere, während man im Norden Njörd verehrte, den Gott der fruchtbaren Äcker, der Küste und der Seefahrer.

Es gibt unzählige Mythen über die Ozeane auf der Welt. In Ägypten priesen die Leute Sobek, der sich in Gestalt eines riesigen Krokodils zeigte, die Asiaten huldigten den Göttern Susanoo (Japan) und Gong Gong (China). In der MayaKultur wurde der Regen- und Wassergott Chaac verehrt.

Aus Furcht vor Stürmen und Unwettern dekorierten Seefahrer ihre Schiffe, brachten Opfergaben dar, um sicher an ihr Ziel zu kommen und die Götter stets auf ihrer Seite zu haben.

Este tipo de tejido, conocido como “de lenguas”, proviene de una técnica milenaria de producción llamada ikat que llegó a Mallorca con la ruta de la seda. En la isla quedan pocos talleres textiles que aún mantengan una parte artesanal del proceso como son Teixits Vicens o Teixits Riera.

This type of fabric, known literally as ‘tongues fabric’, is the result of a millenary technique called ikat which came to Mallorca via the Silk Road. Nowadays only a few textile workshops on the island continue to implement an artisanal part of the process, such as Teixits Vicens or Teixits Riera.

In the effervescent Paris of the 1920s this US-born engineer and sculptor started creating figures of animals made of wood and wire. Im quirligen Paris der 20er Jahre begann der US-amerikanische Ingenieur und Bildhauer mit seinen Tiergestalten aus Holz oder Draht, die er im Laufe der Zeit immer mehr vereinfachte, bis er zur Abstraktion fand.

Dabei entdeckte er, dass die Figuren an Dynamik gewannen, wenn sie sich bewegten und so entstanden seine legendären Mobiles.

ipertensión, ansiedad, insomnio y depresión son las principales enfermedades consecuencia de la vida urbana. Japón, el país de “la muerte por exceso de trabajo” y con altísimas tasas de suicidio, ha comprobado que dar dos o tres paseos a la semana por el campo, de aproximadamente una hora de duración, ayuda a sentirse mucho mejor al beneficiar a nuestro sistema nervioso. Por este motivo esperan tener, en menos de diez años, cien espacios diferentes dedicados a la “terapia de bosque” en todo el país.

Más de dos millones de japoneses practican a diario Shinrin-Yoku, y las empresas del país empiezan a incluirlas en sus jornadas laborales, haciendo incluso viajes “de negocio” a los bosques.

More than two million Japanese practise Shinrin-Yoku every day, and the country’s companies are beginning to include them in their working days, even taking ‘business’ trips to the forests.

Other places around the world have cottoned on to this technique of organising ‘forest therapies’. But what do they consist of?

In order to bring Shinrin-Yoku closer to cities, the Mini Living Forest initiative has created different architectural installations in big towns like London or Munich where you can walk or sit down to rest inside a glass cube full of vegetation.

In Mallorca, too, ‘forest bathing’ gatherings are organised, especially in the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range.

UNA AUTÉNTICA REVOLUCIÓN. El terremoto que ha causado Greta con sus irrupciones públicas repercutió en primer lugar en la intimidad del hogar. Hasta el punto que su madre decidió dejar de tomar aviones por la emisión de gases, y ya solo trabaja en países cercanos.

La Biblioteca Pública de Stuttgart (Alemania), inaugurada en 2011, es un edificio cúbico con un exterior muy llamativo, que al iluminarse por la noche en diferentes colores recuerda a un cubo de Rubik, y un sobrio interior blanco cuyas 11 plantas invitan a la calma y el estudio.

The Stadtbibliothek am Mailänder Platz (Stuttgart, Germany) is a cube-shaped building with a very striking exterior which reminds one of a Rubik’s cube when it is lit up in different colours at night, and a sober white interior with 11 floors that invite to calmness and study. This is Stuttgart’s public library, inaugurated in 2011.

Desde 1946, la Biblioteca Pública de la Ciudad de Malmö (Suecia) ocupa las dependencias de ‘El Castillo’, como se conoce popularmente este edificio, inspirado en las antiguas fortalezas suecas y danesas y pensado originalmente para acoger el Museo de Malmö. También cuenta con otros dos edificios más modernos: ‘El Calendario de la luz’, con paredes de cristal, inaugurado en 1997, y ‘El Cilindro’, de piedra y forma cilíndrica, que une los dos anteriores. El resultado es un curioso conjunto que conjuga la tradición y la modernidad escandinavas.

En un principio, la propuesta del arquitecto Toyo Ito para la Biblioteca de la Universidad de Arte Tama (Tokio, Japón) era ubicar todo el volumen de la biblioteca bajo tierra, a modo de cueva.

Since 1946, the public library of the city of Malmö (Sweden) has occupied the rooms of ‘The Castle’ – the popular name of this building, inspired by the old Danish and Swedish fortresses and originally designed to house Malmö Museum. It also has two other, more modern buildings: ‘The Calendar of Light’, with glass walls, inaugurated in 1997, and ‘The Cylinder’, made of stone and cylindrical in shape, which links the two former buildings.

The result is a curious ensemble which combines Scandinavian tradition and modernity.

At first, the proposal by architect Toyo Ito for the Tama Art University Library (Tokyo, Japan), consisted of locating the entire volume of the library underground, by way of a cave.

Die Bibliothek Richelieu und die Bibliothek François Miterrand sind die zwei Gebäude der Französischen Nationalbibliothek in Paris, die 13 Millionen Bücher beherbergt.

Das erste Gebäude stammt aus dem Jahr 1368 und wurde 1860 unter Leitung des Architekten Henri Labrouste umgebaut. Die Bibliothek Richelieu ist sowohl außen als auch innen ein spektakulärer Anblick aus anmutigen Säulen und einzigartiger Deckenbeleuchtung. Sie verfügt über drei Ausstellungssäle; hier sind auch die wertvollsten Kollektionen der Nationalbibliothek untergebracht, u.a.
